[Advice Please] Argh! Exhaust Droooooone...
Lozza150 replied to Oosh's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
All mufflers quieten the sound, you will find most exhausts have a centre muffler and whats called a "Hot Dog" which is another muffler shaped like the pipework. The cannon is the last point that deadens the sound... The cannon has the control of the overall sound of the note. The super dragger has a Centre muffler - hot dog - and BIG barrell cannon to really soak up the noise -
What do you think the answer is .....

An Email from a mate (Iain) who writes for a car magazine Interesting reading regarding slowing young driver fatalities. * Right now, I'm sitting at my desk, blood boiling, with a copy of the Daily Telegraph sitting next to me. I can understand there's a heap of public anger at young "hoons" in their "souped up" cars, but it's the paper's f**king righteous, holier-than-thou attitude that's pissing me off no end. * They're simply*preaching to the uneducated middle-class just to sell papers. They don't give a f**k about young drivers and as soon as Michael Costa comes out and says he's fixed the trains, this P-plater crusade will be forgotten. * They're claiming there's a major increase in P-plate accidents, saying lately*they've gone bananas.*However, thanks to the longer 3yr P-plate term, there's TRIPLE the number that were on the road pre-2000! They're also making out there's a large number in high-powered cars, but only 6% of ALL fatalities in AUSTRALIA involve modified cars. * I've gotta say that part of me says loud and clear, "Darwinism works, why change a good thing?!" But then I remember that one day, a loved one (or me) might be killed or injured by one of these idiots that are cutting their WRXs in half. * I wholeheartedly support power-limits on under 21 year-olds (from my experience, the most dangerous years) and limiting passengers. I am prepared to pay up to $500 (per 3 yr Silver license term) for a license to drive a highly modified, high-performance car on NSW/Australian roads. I'll sit the tests, if I don't pass, I'll cop it sweet and drive another car. * I admit, for a P-plater, a VN Commodore Exec is dangerous. They don't handle well and can spin/flip VERY easily. John Anderson (Dpty PM) never spoke truer words when he said (not a direct quote) "high performance cars aren't that dangerous with the right people. Let's face it: they've got better brakes and suspension than most family/economy cars and, in*general,*more safety features." * To drive a Skyline/turbo/supercharged/high-performance Type-whatever properly you need some experience. 3 years should give you enough real world experience to handle such a car and be in a situation to pay for proper maintenance on it. -
When i Installed my Blitz BOV i had to take off the stock BOV and replace it with a metal plate to seal off the hole. I did the test without the BOV hooked up and the Flutter sounds great.!! I also found with the adjustmant screw on the Blitz, at low boost i could make the same sound. Unsure if it will work if you just unhook the vacume line... as there is a small hole in the stock BOV that bleeds pressure off..... No idea why....

But would you agree that Powerful cars *can* play a major factor in feeding stupidity/recklessness because they have the ability to break traction/slide go really fastt in a short distance as opposed to other lesser powerful cars. Lets not forget people that the ability to reach high speeds in a short distance in some of the "High Power" cars is VERY easy. -
With all the latest Media attention towards restriction on "P" plate drivers and powerful cars, what do you think the answer is to try and help decrease the Road toll. If answers are kept to the point and dont go off topic, I might try and bring this topic to the attention of Jim LLoyd, and the rest of the Media. Loz

Those of you in Sydney.... if you can, listen in to the "Talkback" shows on the radio as the Accident made Front page news on the Daily Telegraph. So id say it will be a HOT topic of discussion. For those who didn't/haven't read it yet....... http://dailytelegraph.news.com.au/story.js...storyid=2278471 Make your own mind up.....

It's True..... Check out today's Telegraph. We knew yesterday, but code of conduct (In Radio News... My Work) Did not allow us to release the info about her till late yesterday. Hence why the evening news reported about it, and the papers today Loz

Just to let people know, police don't release names untill all families are notified. The names were released just after 3pm this afternoon I feel for the families, and it's great to see such a great outpour of emotion from SAU. The TRACK kids the TRACK.... NOT the suburbs.....

On a serious note Tom, go get some counseling. I was first on scene for a motorcycle accident this time last year. I didn't seek counseling and found later that i was suffering from "Post Traumatic Stress". For a long time i suffered (nightmares/cold sweats/couldn't watch CSI or any of those style programs etc etc). It wasn't untill recently i sought help and finally began to realise the problems that i was experienceing was due to that event. You wont be seen as "weak" and dont be afraid to talk about it. You did the right thing, and you were brave. You took on the scene and took control, now the best thing to do for yourself is to talk about it so you can deal with what you went thru. Cheers Lawrence

A cheaper alternative to a workshop is "The Hitman" look up his name and send him a PM. He tunes on the street as opposed to a Dyno.... (Just an alternative)

Damn Tosh .... 22, what am i going to do with this 17th Birthday card and Red P plates i got you.....

Check BOV too, sometimes the stock one might do some odd things...... A mate couldn't run more than 8 psi, changed the bov to aftermarket-no prob's.... So another thing to look at....
-
Either that and or check these things..... 1. AFM might need a clean due to oily filters or excessivly dirty filters.... do a search on AFM cleaning. 2. New Spark plugs Gapped to .8mm either platnium, Iridium or check out "Champion" for a cheaper alternative 3.Reset ECU. Disconnect battery and touch break pedel 4. Check all vacuum hoses 5. Check o2 sensor (over fuelling or exxessive fuel use is a sign of failure) 6. EBC if you are using bleed valve if all above fails, dig deep and see a mechanic, and let them know of your progress thus far... Cheers Lawrence

strange noise on maximum boost
Lozza150 replied to CerealKiller's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I had this problem too, Mechanic took apart the manifold and pipes, all gaskets needed replacing and i had 3 cracked bolts holding the manifold to the block. I also got the turbo checked out at (Central Cost Turbo's) and it got the clean bill of health. I think i actually gained some GO! power form all the gaskets and tightned bolts.... It cost me a couple of hundred for parts and labour..... (Not including the beer Macca's and Smokes..) Great Name Lazza!!! L
