That's right, I got a parking ticket for pulling over into an "authorised vehichles" area instead of blocking the princes highway in peak traffic when I broke down. To give you guys some background, a couple of days after I checked over my car, I gave it some boost (first time since I bolted the car back together) and managed to blow one of the induction pipes off - the one that goes to the steel L pipe that the BOV bolts on. Anyway, I decide to pull over into a quiet section on one of the driveways for Rockdale Plaza at the first available place I thought safe. I popped the hood and confirmed my suspicions and came to the conclusion that I needed to tighten up the hose clamps. Now I live just around the corner and up the road a bit, but the catch is it's 4:30pm on a weekday and the Princes Highway (which I'd have to drive on) has heavy traffic - as per normal. So I send the missus around for my tools (lol) and while I'm waiting for her to come back, I get snapped by a driveby inspector. And the fine and happy-snap show up 2 days later. Now I think I have a reasonable excuse for "standing" my car there. So who here has been in a similar situation, and what did you do?

I had a look at cleaning / changing lifters in my r33 gts25t... ROFL. It's a c*unt of a job. Cams have to come out, unlike in that photo-guide of that lancer gsr that's linked to around here..

Hi all... I got no response from the forced induction board.... So I'll try here! When changing my cam cover seals on the weekend (exhaust side was slightly leaking), I came across something interesting. When I took off the inlet cam cover and inspected it I noticed evidence of combustion on the inside of the cover at cylinder number 6. There wasn't any noticable evidence on the exhaust side. There were 2 dark 'cone' shapes indicating that this had come from cyl 6 from both valves. The rest of the cam cover was clean. There wasn't any evidence around the cam or lifter - but a cover is in place over cyl 5 and 6 on both sides, so you can't really tell. There didn't seem to be any damage to the top of the head. Also, when I scratched the combustion marks it came away easily, indicating that there wasn't actually much of it, and it wasn't burnt in... There was also a fine coat of oil over the top, around as much as the other cylinders. The engine runs smoothly with no strange sounds (except for a ticking I believe to be from a lifter in the exhaust side of cyl 1) and the car performs as well as any other stock skyline. I haven't experienced any pinging and the engine is as stock as you get. Also, there was evidence of the inlet cam cover been removed prior to me owning the car - they lost one of the screws and used a different one. I'm guessing that the combustion marks came from either sudden combustion while the inlet for cyl 6 was still open (like detonation I guess) or a slow, gradual escape of combustion gases. What I want to know is 1) What causes this (is my guess right?) 2) How can I tell if this is from previously repaired engine damage, or is happening now? 3) If something is indeed wrong, that's involved in fixing it?

In my old car there was a huntsman on the clutch lever... When I pushed the clutch in in dropped on my foot. I was wearing thongs at the time. lol!

Yep. It's a b*tch. But the alternative to to spend something like $150 for a "new" one... It took me 3 attempts with a stanley blade lol! If you want to save the pain first, take out the light bar and use a multimeter to test the connector sitting in your wing. Get a mate to press the brake pedal or something. It's probably wasting time, but if it doesn't show up 12 volts then there's a wire problem.

It'll be the diode in the light. Take it off, seperate the red bit from the black bit (this is hard) and you'll see a disintegrated diode on the circuit board. Replace it for about $1, if you can solder Fairly common problem.

Hi All, Something interesting has been happening to my car of late. It takes forever to warm up, for a start... It used to take about 5 - 10 minutes, now it takes 15 - 20 before the needle comes up half way. Also, when driving through cold patches (such as down vic pass, quickly ) the temp gauge drops quite significantly. I'm wondering if the thermostat is stuck open. Any thoughts?

14 pot calipers and there are 4 brake rotors in there somewhere. Don't find many cars with them though - they're a factory option for Airbus A320's (like a B737). If everyone's on the mood for brake conversions these should stop you fairly well though

Yes I would. Free Conzult is mostly for 300zx and to buy it is a few hundred. My interface is slightly different, using a different clock generator but the frequency is the same, so should be sweet. I like their idea for Rx / Tx LED's What do you use to connect it to the consult socket?

I got all the stuff too, so I'll be giving it a crack. I think I'll be using free conzult, but if anyone else knows something better...

BTW, I did this about 12 months ago on a sickie. Car still works fine

Hi all, I got myself some new brake pads for the rear and went doen to change them today. Got the wheels off, old pads out, and couldn't work out how to get the new ones in... I took the brake fluid cap off and got my mate there to catch any fluid and tried to push in the pistons in with my fingers. No joy. I tried with the old pad (gently) and no joy. Are there any tricks to doing this? P.S. I couldn't find any tricks or directions other than "push it in" with the search...

Yeah, looks like malaysia or around that area. Can't be singapore since you're not supposed to modify anything on your car or else the government takes it, but OMG, a friend there paid over $90k for a little hatchback... I wouldn't pay anything over $15k here for the same car... Skylines are expensive and fairly rare over there... My fiancee lived there and all the guys she worked with just couldn't accept the fact that I was rich enough to own a skyline (having no idea how cheap they are here)... So she showed them a pic rofl! I've seen a lot of new cefiro's over there though. Wish I had my camera at the time.
