direct wire to battery, and pull the extra 30v fuse...... no power to fuel pump = car wont start ! edit: a local ezipark car park here in adelaidew had a car totally stripped clean late last year... was parked in an area the camera couldnt see.......................... they reckon it would have taken hrs to strip it. Doors, seats, wheels, electronics, etc etc etc

goes without saying........... ! cheers for your ongoing unbiased opinions, appreciated for sure. yup, realizing that now. thanks for your ongoing msn support dean. http://www.realestate.com.au/cgi-bin/rsear...mt=&header= something like that ^^^ would be perfectly suitable, IMO

Ta, will have a chat to them about a 15% highflow to my fuel injectors too ! And will see bill at ATS and the local Lonsdale turbo place too, just to get an idea for condition prior to bolting onto my engine.......................
-
Thanks lads, top advice. After further research it seems that its almost impossible to tell the oil seal condition, without the turbo being pulled apart and inspected. If its bush or ball bearing, meh, doesnt matter to me now. Highflowed is good tho I'll repost once Ive received it and checked it out, and had it professionally looked at too

Thanks lads - awesome and VARIED advice (lets never forget forum boards are meant to be traversed by Opiniated people), and thats a good thing. Comes down to this: Im disabled. Im getting my mind around that fact, but its a truth. Cant sleep for more then a few hours, always in pain sometimes horrific pain, making it very hard to keep a clear and level head. My stress levels atm are extremely high. What Im looking at when I see my home, is a beautiful SPACEY 320k home, in the best part of Morphett Vale. We love it, in the wooded area on the walking trail right next to 2 schools and 4 parks. Quiet area. But its very spacey and Im paying 103k morgage for that space..... do I need it? No. I can downgrade in value, to say 245k, to still a beautiful home in the M/V area and just lose out on a little space (ie no pool - buy a spa for my knees, more compact kitchen - ours is Huge and a waste of space, more compact entry foyer - ours is bigger than a big bedroom, and lose the gym room - no big deal gain a shed to put that gear in). So, I wont be rushing into a decision, but I think in the short term Im better off going to a more suitable 4person family home thats worth less and brings my debt level down to under 40k (down to 20k when bike sale and family berevement $ comes thru).................. THEN buy into 1, then 2 etc investment rented homes for under 180k each, that in 25+yrs time will be paid out via the rent and can be passed onto my 2 kids, to help with their future. Thats a fair plan, help the kids out in the long term, help me out (I dont want to pay 103+interest for the next 15yrs on wasted space, with not a cent to my name after the 1st week of the month like I have now for approx.9years) in the short term, and gives me the opportunity sometime in the "near" future to spend time getting over 2 x partial knee replacements, then eventually 2 x full knee replacements. Its a very hard decision, but eventually Im going to have to look after my health - I fear Ive only got ~25yrs left on this earth, so I need to provide a future for my 2 kids and wife. Cheers all, Brendan

top suggesion....... how do I do that? ok, for the home handyman; 1 - how can you tell whether its bush or ball bearing? 2 - how can you tell if the oil seals are all ok? 3 - what sort of allowance for shaft movement is considered by the experts to be 'ok' ? Cheers lads and ladies, thats all for now! Brendan

could be, lol - thems the risks of ebay, hey! ebay's only failed me once or twice so far.....! thats been factored into..... if so, then I *should* be able to get my money back via resale. either way, for $150 its worth playing around with. we'll see. although I never thought about mismatched wheels or poor machining of the rear housing. Meh - one of those things, spot late at night, think about it, bid on spur of moment. could be junk could be gold. will post photos once received. ta. couldnt get photos prior to sale as the wrecker said on the ebay listing that its currently on the R32 and he wont take it off until its sold, hence sold in "as is" condition, may require rebuild may not....... but then again its in a wrecked car. whats the chance the turbo blew resulting in the car to spin and crash and be written off?
-
positive its not a GCG, I have no information to suggest otherwise - but we'll find out soon enough. the only info I have is the price Ive paid, the turbo type, that its a highflow, and that condition is unknown atm. I only mentioned a highflowed GCG as they seem a popular option here on SAU and someone might be able to shed some light on acceptable shaft play on a GCG highflow turbo, either R33 or the larger R34. thanks for the price info Ash....... now Im sure IF it needed a rebuild I could finally handshake a deal for under a grand; I figure I can but we'll see, all in good time. just hoping like hell its all good, and Ive got the ebay bargain of the year!

Turbo Replacement/upgrade - Your Thoughts?
Tangles replied to pixel8r's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Id still suggest a little trip down marion rd (like 4kms max) past daws rd to Graham west workshops for a half hour dyno session, to give you an idea on the injector duty + AFR's. No harm in knowing that the engine will/willnot be ok. -
thanks lads, keep it coming; Ive got another week to stew over the condition of this turbo yet!! yeah, side to side, fair enough - as long as it isnt hitting edges, ok I understand that. front to back - not even a mm in "give" is ok? I figured anything over like 2.5mm isnt healthy. ** how about oil seals etc? how do I test that? ** yeah, rebuild I would have thought around the $800 mark, dependent on condition of blades etc. definately wouldnt expect a $1700 quote tho but either way, $150 outlay for a highflowed VG30 turbo - IF a rebuild is required, and IF that said rebuild is under a grand, then its a bargain still in my book! keep the thoughts coming, fellow-SAU'ers

Turbo Replacement/upgrade - Your Thoughts?
Tangles replied to pixel8r's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
My tip; spend a few hundred on a R34 GTT side mount intercooler, a hundred and a half on a Nismo FPR, a couple hundred on a larger Bosch 040 fuel pump, and eventually buy and tune a SAFC too. Oh, and a full exhaust system to make it all happy ! running stock boost with the larger turbo should be ok - but a GT30 is a big turbo, of sorts. simply have a quick half hour dyno session at Graham Wests down the road on the 4wd dyno and have the injector duty checked out and the AFR's checked............ that'll tell you a bit more about whats going on. best of luck, and let us know your thoughts on the GT30. Brendan -
Ok all, I wont bore you with indepth details, etc. BUT - Im a happy chappy and cant help myself: I have won and paid for an ebay bid for a highflowed VG30 turbo. Its advertised as "being on a R32 that made 257 at the rears at 14psi", although the wreckers that are selling it have also stated that they can not guarantee condition as its still on the car and wont be taken off until sold - well, its sold now ! lol The seller has said they advertise all goods they arnt 100% sure about as "Sold as is suit rebuild regardless of condition"; all I know is that the car was driven into their yards, and they offer a 7day return policy too. For $150 meh I can deal with that. I wont have the turbo for at least another week or so, but thought Id start gathering info. Now for my query here in the Forced Induction section. * what do I need to do to determine the actual condition of the turbo? I havent got it in my possession as yet so I cant post photos. ie: ---> Id like to know whats acceptable movement for the shaft "side to side" and "fowards/backwards" from a highflowed GCG R33/R34 turbo? measured in mm. ---> how can I test it to see if the oil seals etc are still in good condition? whats the go here? how do I do it? * seeing it is already highflowed, what sort of budget quotes might I be looking for if it needed the ball bearings replaced, and the shaft rebalanced etc? Id imagine that the blades wouldnt need to be replaced if in good condition, just replace the BB centre and oil seals and rebalance? ball-park budgets...... Cheers lads, you're a wealth of advice. Just after as much info for the home handy man to tell if its useable as is or not. I may be jumping the gun a little but I cant contain my excitement in finding a highflowed VG30 turbo that may or may not be in good nick, for cheap. Brendan

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=53079 simple, Sydneykids specs involving Bilstein shocks and Whiteline components (springs, bushes, swaybars etc). I went without the springs (using standard) and find it a most suitable ride. edit: to lower it or raise the suspension, SK had "notches" scrapped into the shocks, and you can adjust the height simply using circlips. pretty much they are lowered springs on aftermarket shocks

awesome - hope it works out!! another reason to be with Shannons.

Good luck cheers Luke - $150 off ebay LOL, no-one else bidded as the very bottom line stated "item sold Suit Rebuild regardless of condition"... very confusing. Ive asked the seller (all paid for lads, soz) about it and he says its still on the R32, was driven into the wreckers yard, pics look good, he cant gaurantee the exact condition so he wrote that little statement as part of his normal business practise. it has a 7day return policy, and was advertised as highflowed, so Ive got a few comebacks if it isnt as advertised on ebay, as per ebay rules, etc. But I dont see how I can go wrong.... if its in bad nick then I'll save upto a grand and have it rebuilt only, if its in good nick then Ive got the Ebay Bargain Of The Year

just won my bid for a highflowed VG30 turbocharger !! future plans obviously now revolve around this beauty.... dunno tho the condition, could require rebuild (already highflowed lol!!) but might be all ok. Will find out soon enough I guess, should get it in the next 2 weeks. coming off a R32 making 257 at 14psi, apparently. whoohoo!! Im guessing even if it is shagged, being pre-highflowed, a rebuild would be under a grand? meh, either way my winning bid was CHEAP!

Paid $41 to the nominated account, and left PM with my mailing address and confirmation (receipt) of eft payment. Cheers Ox! Brendan

As title states. Keep it simple; but list it out! Im sure we all want to hear what others have planned for their lovely stags. ................................................. me, bit stuck for cash until the bike sells, but Im sure by the end of the summer Id have fitted: * front and rear braided brake lines, full fluid flush, along with DBA front slotted rotors. * front caster bushes and have full wheel alignment, and add the auto oil cooler kit (got all this lying around) * go to MV Autos for the valve body actuator exchange, with full fluid flush. * add some sort of high flow turbo and a retune of the safc and sitc, to 1bar. 2kish should get me there. * maybe finish off with a dvd player. sell my cdstacker and tape head unit, cost me zilch. * alter drivers seat rail length * 4wd controller, or some sort of fancy gadget??? hahaha! who knows. but at the least I'll soon fit up the parts that I currently have, as time permits. at the end of the day it'll be under 30k and a very nice family performance car, fully sorted in all aspects. ............................................. Soooo, what have you got planned to your Stagea, and to what sort of timeframe and budget? Cheers, and best of luck to the project!

do it....... with a carbon bonnet tho. tooo bright otherwise, need some "denseness" to offset it with the windows etc. would look good IMO
