Thanks for that info - appreciated!

so, I gather thats bad then. whats a good oil for a thrust-bearing hiflow turbocharger then? Im confused to say the least, and Ive done a lot of reading on howstuffworks.com! sorry, but I continually hear (some) nasty things about GCG! putting me off............ although I have heard many good things about GCG too. now if only I was a

Thats cool - I can live with Penrite 5w-60w oil LOL nice and thin. From what I understand bushbearing hiflow turbos (say with 360 thrust bearing) require a constant 'good' flow of oil, otherwise BOOM and its a waste of money. Just that Im considering Slide's turbo for $940 rather than the GCG 2k option. Is there any sort of 'unit' out there that ensures loads of oil is pumped thru the turbo? Id rather use my 'savings' on larger injectors and a full safc/sitc retune at 1bar, then spend all my hard earned on a 2k highflow (albeit ball-bearing) turbo and have no cash to retune! Also - how long does oil take to get up to temperature? I live in Adelaide, so we have hot summers, nice springs and autumns, and cold winters mornings. Cheers - Brendan

How do you do this?? ie ensure perfect oil flow for a bushbearing turbo?

Anyone Have A Rb25 Highflow From "sliding Performance"?
Tangles replied to joe2548's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
How can you ensure that shite-loads of oil is able to go thru this turbo (so it doesnt fail), ie what exactly needs to be done? Worried about that factor! Also, how long should the car idle prior to turn-off after a normal street drive? cheers. -
Im positive thats the size the Apexi GT Hybrid is!

geez - totally forgot. Plus the motogp was on foxtel, an awesome race between Caprirossi and Rossi. Havent played BF2 properly for like 10 days now LOL Mind you I went from 15000 to 26000points in a couple of weeks, so I need a bit of a break from it! Yeah, tried last friday/saturday but the new 1.3patch is awful - cant stay on, always booted off with bad connection now. Tried again this weekend (fri/sat) but same problem. Thanks BF2 patch 1.3 - now I cant play the damned game.

Put it this way - I believe in quality items too, but on a budget. I picked up an Apexi GT Hybrid intercooler off Japan eBay for around $450 delivered. An Apexi GT Hybrid is a half/half intercooler from what I can tell - half tube & fin and half bar & plate design. It utilises the standard engine bay piping holes (called return feed), which is what I was looking for. It was in awesome condition, hardly even req'd a flush, and just rebent a couple of fins. Looked brand new (almost) once Id readied it. Plus it fits snugly into my Dayz front bar. Thats they way to do it! Keep looking and you'l find what youre after for whatever budget youre on. Ive seen the bigarsed ARC coolers for around $700 on ebay before.

ARC are the beezkneez. Pick up a 2ndhand unit off ebay maybe, probably the best way to 'afford' one. A simple flush (50/50 kero/metho) wil have it as good as new..... =)

wtf? what for? is that with or without 'standard' radio? LOL

well, Im sure I could feel a 0.8% gain LOL in fact, if the car had Bass Junky's radiator guide installed, and had the safc/sitc retuned as is now, Im sure itd gain an extra couple awkw above 4600rpm in 2nd gear - felt a new 'slight hesitation' there. Im200% positive thatd be because more (however slight) denser cool air is going thru the system now meaning at one point in the higher rev range the air/fuel mixture is out slightly. A good retune would surely yield a couple more ponies, however its all a waiting game now until the forced induction 'flow' is increased edit: I really like how it fits into the engine bay - looks good.
-
cheers Latin; going to chop up a piece of 25cm H x 100cm L heatinsulated foam, and form that around all areas of the cai to help block (however slightly) hot enginebay air - not concerned at all about water, cant see how much more than a droplet here or there can get in thru the front; never even considered that factor until you mentioned it lol she'll be right

Upgrading To A Nissan Skyline
Tangles replied to Shakiel's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
R34 GTT's are hot, no doubt. Good value to. You can pick up a RS260 for around 33-39k, full GTR Autech Stagea, Rb26dett manual, 4wd, full gtr suspn etc. Awesome. A GTR with 5-doors, room for the family. Or a RS4 Stagea, Rb25det auto or manual or tiptronic (Series2), 4wd, gtr front suspn gtst rear suspn, etc. Series1's or 2's for 12-20k. Nice. A true stealth wagon, no trouble with the law, & very responsive to mods. Or no mods - your car your choice. My choice is to mod! -
