  1. As I am only a few hundred metres from Perry Lakes, it would be a crime for me not to go! So as long as I am not overseas, please count me in. By the way, the demolition they started on the stadium was only on the peripheral toilet blocks. The main stadium and the rugby ground have not been touched yet. I believe they will be starting on the rugby ground soon - and the new one won't be ready for next season! (Bugger!) Cheers.
  2. Thanks to Brad and all for a great event. It was good fun to learn more about the car - and also to realise that I was not the worst!! Thanks also to Paul for some tips on driving a GTR. That "wrong way" certainly made a difference to the results! Best moment of the day was the Torana coming back towards us up the track, front wheels almost off the deck, slightly sideways and huge clouds of tyre smoke. Looking forward to the next one! Cheers.
  3. So have you been to the Doctor or Physio? If not, go and see one. Because then it is recorded that you have suffered an injury as a result of the accident, which is needed if you are to claim compensation. By the way, I am sure a lawyer can help you extract something from the taxi company. If the guy is going around in a vehicle flying their colours, then they must take some responsibility. Mind you, since when has the law been sensible! Cheers.
  4. Keep notes of all of your costs that you rack up because you are without the use of your car, preferably with receipts, including bus fares/ train fares / taxi fares (if you can bring yourself to use one) / hire car. Indicate to your insurance company that you will want to claim for those costs against the b'stard. They will probably say that is up to you to pursue, but if you are lucky, your insurance policy might cover some of these things. The guy has committed an offence by leaving the scene of the accident. So the cops should be aiming to charge him - so ask them to confirm they will pursue that. Write to the taxi company informing them of your losses and your intention to claim compensation for any non-insured costs (like your excess, plus bus fares / hire car, etc) and additional compensation for trauma and inconvenience. Better still, get a lawyer to take on the matter. With an excess of $2,500 you have at least 2,500 reasons to get a lawyer. By the way, you did hurt yourself in the accident, didn't you? You must have sprained your thumb on the steering wheel and suffered whiplash or other injuries that only come out some time after the accident. Always claim you are hurt in an accident, because then the cops have to put in a report and there is more pressure on them to charge the wrong-doer. Your thumb looks really bad to me! Cheers.
  5. Hi, Andy, I am interested in the Nismo 320km/hr speedo. PM sent. Cheers.
  6. I have a Cusco number plate offset kit that uses the original holes and moves it off to the passenger side. I never used it. Stainless steel bracket, still in the packet. (That rhymes!) Let me know if you are interested. By the way, all Alfa Romeos have it on passenger side from factory. The only legal requirement that I am aware of is that it has to be mounted so that it is parallel with the axle - so you cannot have too much of an angle. Cheers.
  7. Interesting - sounds like the quality control on putting these things together got a bit patchy in the later years of producing them. I will see how I go with the borrowed one from the R33. Cheers.
  8. Ahah! Another club to join. I have had the same problem. I borrowed another map sensor unit from an R34 GTT (I think) and mine was cleaned up a bit by Imports 101 (I can ask Danny what they did - I think they sent it to a local electronics shop, who re-soldered a loose widget). It then worked fine for 6 months and has just started doing it again. I have now borrowed a unit from an R33 GTR (all exactly the same part number) and it seems to be OK again. BUT today it appeared to stop for a while on the freeway, but I was a bit busy in traffic to confirm it. I may be going for a new unit. Busy tomorrow, so probably won't make it to Scarborough, sorry. Cheers.
  9. Sorry - I got hold of the wrong end of the stick, too. djr81 - that was probably my car you saw in Imports 101. I was having a bit of work done and it was there a couple of times in the last two to three weeks. Confusion all around! As for Nengun, people complain about them and about Greenline from time to time (there are quite a few threads around). They always seem to forget that things get pretty hectic with more orders and less work time around Christmas and New Year. Also, these companies are at the mercy of their suppliers. For example, you won't get a Trust oil cooler kit for an R34 GTR from almost anywhere until the end of Feb, because they are on back order with Trust. There may be one or two on the shelves around the place, but not many. I have always had excellent service and response from these guys. Cheers.
  10. + 1. I got my R34 GTR from Imports 101 and Danny has helped me choose appropriate mods, supplied those I could not get myself and fitted the lot. The tuning was done through Imports 101 at Top Racing (a great job). The body kit was fitted by Imports 101, who arranged the painting by Regency Panel Shop - who also did a great job. Net result is a well sorted car and one happy customer! Cheers.
  11. LOL. Admire, admire. It did not go unnoticed. You, sir, are like bat's piss. You stand out like a stream of gold when all around you is darkness. Cheers.
  12. Awwwww! Just when I was going to pontificate endlessly about spelling, punctuation and grammar. You're spoiling all the fun ... .... ... ...
  13. The point that may have escaped you is that lauding such behaviour or otherwise condoning it on here will: a) Give the wrong message to the younger, less experienced and impressionable forum members, who would then be encouraged to go out and speed/kill themselves/kill innocent passers-by; and b) Demonstrate to Police/society at large/Today Tonight editors (for even they can read) that a) is true and we are all a bunch of hoons. So, Yes, SkyRyan, everyone is young and stupid once, but to demonstrate that neither a) nor b) is correct, older, wiser and, let's face it, far better looking people than you will tell you to keep it on the track. We don't claim to be saints, but we do aim to do the right thing. Because, by doing so, we protect our own interests as well. So get over it. Its what happens on these forums. Just put it down to learning, so that you will be less stupid, but still young, alive and able to enjoy it! Cheers.
  14. Really?!! That never occurred to me, officer.
  15. Do the 'zorst and intake, then the Power FC and EBC. Do the latter two together, 'coz then you only need one tuning session. That is all I have got and I make 370 hp atw on high boost of 1.3 bar (19 psi). And yes, I have a Bayside Blue V Spec II. Cheers.
  16. Funny how that happens - isn't it!! There just seems to be a steady flow of things to buy, once that bug bites! But - the R34 GTR V Spec - what a glorious canvas on which to paint your personal ideas - so ignore everything I said and do your own thing!!! We should still get together by the blue bay side, though! Cheers.
  17. Oooh! Dangerous ground! A stray apostrophe in a plural (I mean, "disc's" - honestly!) means you have opened fire on one foot, whilst putting the other firmly in your mouth. Meanwhile, on the topic: Don't forget that the stock systems were supposedly built to manage up to 500 hp (375 kw). So the intercooler should be fine, as should the cat. The turbos should also manage it (just), but you would probably be better replacing them. So, using Michael's shopping list: Run it for a while with stock suspension, which is good on the V Spec. Then see what you want. Ditto stock brakes - they are a great system to begin with. I have just had a modified oil catch can fitted, feeding oil back into the sump, and am about to get an oil cooler. Both of which are essential for track days. (Anyone else thinking of going to WASCC Tuning Day on Monday?) I am happy living with the stock interior for the moment, which is all good, but have one or two items in mind for possible change. We will have to have a Bayside Blue get together - maybe by the side of the bay?!! Cheers.
  18. OK - I can understand the self-levelling requirement as a safeguard against the potential for badly adjusted lights to blind oncoming motorists. But why require washers? Is the light quality such that dirt on the lens will cause light dispersion and thus dazzle oncoming motorists? But that still requires you to use your washers - they are not self-washing!! I reckon I wash my car more often than I use my screen washers. Or are the Thought Police going to pull all BMW/Merc/Landrover/etc drivers over and give them a yellow for not using their screen & headlight washers recently? I realise that expecting some logic behind particular ADRs may be unrealistic, but I thought I would ask! I had a think about keeping the Xenons on my GTR when I got it. At the time, nobody could tell me why they had to be removed for compliance. Now my question is whether or not I can get a self-levelling kit for the R34? (Some hope!) I will also postpone the oil cooler and spend my cash on fixing a washer line to each headlight! Cheers.
  19. LOL! You get a few of them! In fact, there appears to be a growing number of them. A mate of my son was chased up the Kwinana freeway for about 10 minutes by some nut-case redneck, with tats and a check shirt, driving a trayback ute with a load of gear on it. My son's mate had only just got his P plates and didn't even know what had upset the bloke. Fortunately, he managed to stay ahead of him without speeding insanely. The guy was flashing lights at him, shaking his fist out the window and trying to push through gaps in the traffic that weren't there to get at him. The other motorists were having to swerve to avoid him. The poor kid crapped himself. He was trying to phone the cops when he managed to pull off the freeway and the nutcase missed the junction. Sounds like everyone has a tale of something like that. Best thing to do to avoid these tossers is not to respond to gestures by making gestures yourself. Just develop an "Oops, sorry" kind of look and use that. You can practise it on cruises!! Now there's an idea. An "Oops, sorry" cruise! Cheers.
  20. My wife and kids spotted a young guy with a GMG R33 involved in a fight at the end of the freeway in Joondalup, Friday evening (14/12/2007). Two older guys in a ute were involved, with one of them trading punches with the young guy. Apparently other motorists pulled them apart and when the guys got back in the ute, the young guy ran back and smacked the guy through the window. Problem was, he was a bit slow getting back to his own car and the punchee managed to get him a good one through his open window. son of rajab knows what started it. The highlight was the young fellah's girlfriend trying to get involved with a golf club!! It's only a car and it's only a road. If some d#ckhead wants to show how wonderful he is / how wonderful his choice of car is / how big his dick is because he has a ute / how Australian he is by hating Jap cars, just back off the gas and let him have the joy. Just smile or laugh at their pitiful lives, but don't get drawn into this sh#te! Equally, if some d#ckhead is convinced that his Skyline is the dog's bollocks and wants to show how wonderful he is / how much better his car is than Falcadores / how big his dick is because he has a turbo / how hard done by he is by the rednecks, then calm down mate. The road is not your personal battleground to right the wrongs of Bathurst post-92!! Let the car speak on the track. On the road, it goes from A to B. Hope all are OK - whoever started it. Cheers.
  21. Ah yeah, but a few simple mods are half the fun! You're right though - the R34 V S Spec II is a fantastic car to start with. But would you really leave it as it is? Jaschippy, there is no easy answer. Either find out as much as you can yourself, or find someone who knows and get them to check it. If all else fails, get an RAC check to at least get the basics. Cheers.
  22. Hi again. My car is a 2001 R34 GTR V Spec II. It was stock when I got it, with genuine 40,000 km. I imported it earlier this year through Imports 101 and took delivery in June. If you look on the Nengun website, under members cars, you can see pics and details as it is now. Regarding some of the cars on offer over East, it is basically the same as when buying any secondhand car. Some of them are probably genuine people just selling their car. Some of them are undoubtedly backyard dealers who have imported the car from Japan, thrown a few things on it, wound the clock back, tarted up the paintwork, thrown away the auction sheet and selling it as a Grade 4.5 car, when it was probably Grade 3 or worse. There are plenty of stories out there about cars being sold with V Spec badges or claims they are 2001 cars, when they are nothing of the sort. These may be urban myths, but the imports market still offers more scope for unscrupulous people to make a killing than any other type of car dealing. Or maybe I am just suspicious and overly cautious. But why not, when you are spending that sort of money, they probably ARE all out to get you! Cheers.
  23. Hi again. The stock motor and all of its parts was built by the factory for 500hp, apparently (HPI Magazine and others say so). So 32VSpecII is on the money with power at the wheels. As he says, have a search through the Forced Induction threads to get more info. Also, get hold of the most recent High Performance Imports Magazine Special Edition on the GTR (it was about four issues back). They had an article on stepwise mods to a typical GTR and dealt with R34 specifics, not just RB26DETT generalisations. The R34 engine has a few, but worthwhile, improvements - such as steel turbines, rather than laminated ceramic. Hence they are good for up to about 1.4 to 1.5 bar boost (20 to 22 psi in God's units). With that kind of boost level and other straightforward mods, you can get 400+ hp out of an R34 GTR (there are a couple of R34 GTRs in Perth, I am told, that have achieved around 430 - 450 hp atw with standard turbos and internals). HPI Magazine argue that unless you are going for high power numbers, cams are a waste of money for a street driven car. Cam gears do little other than look pretty - although with some set-ups they can give you more mid-range, but it is tweaking around the edges. With your budget, you want bang for your buck. Get a good base car and work from there. There are a number of GTRs already in Oz (check carsales.com.au, for example), some of which look OK, that already have bits on them, but I would be cautious of some of the vendors over East with them. I imported my car through Imports 101. It cost about $74k landed and complied, registered, etc. (Imports 101 have a calculator on their website to show you the cost breakdown involved in importing a car.) All of this is my own bias and quasi-, half-learned stuff from reading the magazines and these forums. So read up some more and your ideas will begin to gel. Hope this helps. Cheers.
  24. Hi. All of MattyP's advice is spot on. I would suggest you see what the car is like when you get it (I assume you are importing it and have not driven it yet). I have an R34 GTR V Spec II, which was stock when I got it. I put a Nismo R Tune intake duct on it and I assume it had the restrictor taken out of the boost line, and it had the standard ECU. I also had fitted an APEXi 3.5 inch exhaust with APEXi front pipe and standard cat. It ran max boost of about 1 bar and produced 290 hp at the wheels in this guise. I then put Apexi Power FC, Greddy Profec B Spec II EBC (with 1.2 bar high and 0.8 bar low boost), plus Apexi Power Intake pods system. And that was all - result is 370 hp at the wheels. I am told that I could get another 30-40 hp if I removed the last restriction in the exhaust (which is probably the muffler, which is a quiet type). But I am happy as it is. My point is that this cost me less than $4k, including tuning. What are you hoping to achieve with the other $11k you are looking to spend? If you are clear on that, go for it. But you may be able to achieve what you want without the expensive mods. Just a thought. Cheers.
  25. Glad to have helped! So are you buying the car - or just intrigued? Cheers.
