  1. well its a tomei rb28 stroker kit and i think they are forged rods..... all in an n1 block mmmmmmm
  2. yeah - 6 cylinders are renowned for starting to fall apart at high revs its cause of the 120 degree angle between strokes - as opposed to a smoother 180 degree between 4 and 8 cylinders mind you - a guy here in WA has a rb28 with twin gt-ss (i think) that spins to 9000rpm no worries (but thats a tuffer, internally braced rb26 block....)
  3. same - just upgraded at no extra cost (and now 10gb a month)
  4. from my understanding when running it in it will smoke a bit as the rings get bedded in i hope for your sake that its all fixed now.....
  5. ive added you as friend if thats what you mean
  6. add me bish
  7. even leasing a small workshop costs around $2000 a fortnight
  8. so you in effect had no pcv at all?? i reckon it would be worth pulling it out, cleaning it with carby cleaner so it rattles properly, check all hoses that come from the engine and go to the plenum for leaks
  9. here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/t1...html&hl=pcv this is all i could find pcv stands for positive crankcase ventilation its a little one way valve that relieves built up pressure in the crankcase if thats buggered then pressure can build up and boom - out comes your dipstick should be screwed into your rocker cover somewhere and the hose from it goes into the plenum
  10. it could be the PCV if you had a breather set up and it still blew the dipstick then it could be clogged im sure there is a DIY on how to clean the PCV and hopefully for you it should fix it
  11. for a north american - ur almost worth coming over here buying about 20 rb30 blocks and ship them over to canada and then give them a clean up and 'make over' and sell them for around $300 US you would make a killing (considering a long block here can cost as little as $50AUS and max $250AUS - and that prob with all ancillaries too)
  12. ouch long sounds bad white smoke almost sounds like rings but grinding noise sounds like starter motor
  13. next week im getting there early dammit!!!
  14. crank is (i believe) nitrided from factory so it would only need a linish and a balance like cubes said the stock rods are good for a lot of kw so dont bother there cryo as much as you can afford valve springs, valves etc
  15. haha woops
  16. so ur daniels mate was there saw ya runs not bad time for a gts well done on teh reaction time - i saw that launch and it was awesome you took off as the light went green.....
  17. the signal from the back of the cluster would only be active if the oil pressure drops below a certain value (eg 10psi) therefore lighting the oil signal on the cluster an oil pressure gauge sensors the constant changing pressure so you need to have a sender unit that will give an ohms value that the gauge can read
  18. lol - im good at forum guesstimation....
  19. yeah good idea to change the water pump at the same time could be a bit junky or slightly rusted for a 15yr old car (even worse start cavitating = BAD!!)
  20. now probably early 2008 considering it has to be bought, then shipped, then customs, then complied
  21. go with an old nissan patrol that came with the carbied rb30e (GQ i think - late '80s) then drop a gtr engine in it with a TO4Z seen it been done b4 - and you can retain 4wd as the box bolts straight up 4wheel crab walking burnouts FTW!!!!!!
  22. cousins thing is a wind-up of the year the eagles have had.....
  23. holy mutherf**ker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RIP indeed
  24. ha - this is why i love my excel got some pirelli p400 tourings 175/70r13 the other day for $80 a corner actually pretty decent grip, and they let go when i want them too understeer is not so bad anymore, but thats partly because of the suspension work done to it (shocks, swaybars and bushes) gotta live with the pull to the left tho.... dry: 8/10 wet: 8/10 value: 9/10
  25. hairdryer and lotsa towels towels actually absorb water (their moleculer make-up is such that they 'suck up' water - not just hold water in-between the fibres) so bung lotsa towels all over it and let them try to soak up some water, then hit it with the hairdryer for a long time
