well it needs an oil change so i'll do that and check the smoke then but it only smokes when it shudders and rough idles - no other time and maybe i didnt get a proper look at the smoke but it was smoking non the less and i trust my mechanic so.... i realise it needs revs - what i mean is that it willl start shuddering sometimes in 3rd, sometimes in 4th, and anywhere between 50-80km/h is when ive experienced it (one situation it will start shuddering just as i change into 3rd going uphill and slowly accelerate until i change into 4th and then leap and jerk its way through 4th up to about 70-80km/h then it is all fine again)

the front 1/4 view from low down looks like a ba/bf the rear end doesnt work - although that pic in the garage looks pretty sexy - big ass tyres, smoking zorst it kinda looks like a ba/bf front - side combo mixed with a bit o 380/magna rear end side - if u get my drift even so - it is one mean mufu fcuker of an engine my cuz has a 2005 vz hsv gts 297 - he didnt like the sound, so he got a zorst and tractors put on - and holy mothertrucker this things sound and goes pretty sweet one smart move is too the zf 6speed auto very nice smooth and smart gearbox - and has shorter ratios than the old t56 tremec 6speed man (cruising @ 100kmh in 6th doesnt work ~ revs at bout 1000rpm; one can cruise @ 80km/h in 3rd) then just imagine if that engine had the same technology as the ford v8s that sort of combo could be putting out 350+kw (holden still use SOHC with pushrod tech i believe whereas ford are using SOHC for normal and DOHC with vct in the fpv's) even so nissan/ford>holden (nissan and ford arent the same its just that they deal in different areas) (id take a fpv f6 tornado and a r33 gtr thanks - one for work and one for play )

i no this is a skyline forum and all but i need some possible explanations my wheels is a x3 excel SOHC and im having some probs with it everytime it is under load - ie going up a hill, it shudders in 3rd and 4th gear (around 50-80km/h)(shuddering like its running on 3 cylinders, barely any acceleration at all uphill even with foot flat on floor) and sometimes in acceleration from standstill sometimes the check engine light comes on, sometimes it doesnt sometimes after driving it will idle really rough - like it is running on 3 cylinders or somefing my mechanic says that it is a fuel prob as it blows blue smoke out the zorst when it does this (and only when - so its not burning oil - phew) but being a poor uni student and all i dont want to have to spend buckets loads finding out what it could be as is ive changed the fuel filter (as it needed to be done anyway), changed spark plug leads(as they were really rooted), swapped the ecu(bugger of a job), checked my spark plugs(they are correctly gaped - although i should get some new ones), injector resistance is the same across all four, ive run it on a tank and a bit of premium, used fuel injector cleaner and all of these to no avail, although it seems to not shuddering as much going up hill now what could it be? i should get a diagnostics test done but cant be bothered and it does need a filter and oil change and a tune coil packs? spark plugs? injectors? any helpful help would be appreciated

its that cool that looky what i did below new funky sig

damn - so i am dribbling but wouldnt the turbo cams be slightly different with more exhaust lift and slightly longer duration than a n/a cam (i realise that the duration can be dialled out to an extent with adj cam gears)
-
but if you look at the cam profiles for cams for a turbo against a n/a engine of the same family (ie rb25de against a rb25det) the cams for the turbo and n/a are different the exhaust cam for a turbo is designed to extract as much from the turbo as possible and the inlet to let it suck as much as possible, whereas n/a cams is a balance of both having the exhaust breath, but not to much so as too loose to much backpressure, and the inlet not being to restrictive, but not losing too much in the lower rev range so a turbo cam in a n/a will not get you much power, if anything, as it is designed for a less restrictive setup
-
turbo cams usually dont work that well in a n/a cause like you said the exhaust is open a little longer (if i remeber rightly), but also they are suited to be most efficient in the high revs where the turbo is working its stuff, whereas n/a cams dont have so much exhaust opening (ie not as long) and also try and extract more power and turque low down in the revs something like that anyway

Time for NA Power, the wait is over.....
342Four replied to NA_R33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yep bought it today - first time ive ever bought a zoom mag good article too car looks sexier in the 'flesh' ie bigger better pics those Drift R rims make it look sexy ps - going to wind the wick up on the 'charger soon? and NOS? could make a 10 sec pass nicely -
so u got it back then dan? some people dont know what they ar talking about one of the main things that limits compression ratio is the quality of the fuel you wouldnt want to run 91RON on a 10.2:1 engine cause she would be pinging like a bitch (thats what ive seen - although hondas are pretty high comp, but i think they need premium??) and that is especially important on a high comp turbo engine with the turbo forcing compressed air into the piston increasing charge density and the added affect of the high comp, 91RON wold kill it, 95RON or even 98RON would be best (you can buy high comp v8 crate engines running 12:1 comp - but they have a warning not to run pump fuel unless its like 100RON or something - but only in america ) that is why typical turbo cars run lower comp than there n/a partners so that the added affect of the increase in charge density doesnt require a different fuel (lower comp, higher charge density allows the same fuel as a higher comp lower charge density essentially) there is nothing wrong with decent boost on high comp as ezekial and cubes were saying - as long as your fuel is good quality and the setup is able to handle it as ezekial said the only thing limiting the boost was the springs wnat more boost - upgrade springs my 2cents PS thought there is nothing wrong with high comp lowish boost mmmmmmmmm would sound very very nice

user cubes has done it plus he has a guide that he made with all sorts of info remember search then ask

Possible Easy Power For Our Na's
342Four replied to blackprincegts's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
apparently if u put a 1inch thick spreader plate between ur intake manifold and throttle body it apparantly creates a vacum of sorts and is suppost to make throttle response a lot sharper and snappier i dont no if this is true but it would be interesting to see -
Possible Easy Power For Our Na's
342Four replied to blackprincegts's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
the thing is that the colder the air the more air you can get into the cylinder, but the warmer the fuel the better it burns so.... (that is if i remeber right) therefore if you have a decent CAI it should be set off by a slightly bigger set of injectors to really take effect (and skitzo - that sounds like an awesome idea) -
i posted this one in the wasteland video post thread ages ago ur slow adrian :( helloooooooooo!!!! love the part: "reverse" whooooooooooooooooooooooooom "forward" whooooobabababababba and the quick as downshifts and upshifts at the end!!!
-
hey thanks FriniK that is seriously cool anthony love it man
-
well actually i believe u can shodan (but...im probably wrong again ) its just that u rarely do cause they are a smaller combustion chamber and buggery small ports about the gasket itself - im not sure - but i do no that a rb26 gasket is the same as a rb30 - but probably not as reliable
-
ask nizmokid as he designed the dark skin logo hope that helps
-
yeah - same with me too - wanna make some stickers and like the font u after the dark skin logo font or the light sking font - there is a difference
-
get in contact with member Slide for info on a 26/30 build - although his is a det (he is actually running a rb30det with a rb26 head and some mad ass gt35/40 turbo - unless he has actually changed it now )
-
say it too me say it too me...... i'll leave this life behind me say it if its worth saving MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! (damn nickleback just got stuck in my head - thanks radio)
-
what did u use to play it with ive downloaded it but divx, quicktime, vlc and media player refuse to play it it keeps spewwing and error -2048 at me

happy birthday for yesterday dan my man !!!!

is it possible to play ps2 games on a pc at all? i really want to play gt4 but i dont want to buy a ps2 (cause i can borrow gt4 )
-
the bashing game is called black knight and it is very addictive

if i remember rightly the max that a rb30 can be overbored safely is about 20 thou this is because of the inconsistencies with the water galleries around the bore the rb30 blocks can last for ages - ive heard of one that was cracked open at 400,000kms and it still had the factory hone marks on the bore walls (never been opened up before) - so it shows you the strength (our '89 r31 had nearly 300,000 when we traded it in - we had gone thru one head, but the block was going as strong as the day it was made) if ur keen go a turbo hybrid engine - whack a rb25 or best yet a rb26 head on the rb30 block (as they fit - some with minor modification) and run a decent sized turbo with mild boost on stock internals (high comp turbo mmmmmmm ) this will give you lotsa turque, but not really high power figures - but hey its cool, pulls really hard if u need a hand look around for members cubes, R31Nismoid, fatz, to name a few - they should help a bit (thats if i got the names right ) hope this helps

i hate sick bastards that rape and kill an 8 yr old girl ohh and kidney stones one of the closest things (in terms of pain) that a bloke can get to childbirth (along with kidney stones, torsion is another thing that is very painful)
