  2. ohhhhhh beta tester FREAK!!!!! only cause u'll be beta testing for the next 50 years till 2056 when they actually bring out longhorn (im mac biased if u havent worked out) by then it will mac os XX and will be soooooo intuative
  3. make this a sticky somebody i have to agree whole heartedly a club lock is a good idea - more than anything it scares unpro nickers away (as most are - all they want is a car to joyride) - it scared away theives numerous times from our r31 at our old place were it sat in the carport my (now dead) excel has a very touchy factory alarm which is a bonus for me (just lean up against it sometimes when armed and it goes off) and it has a very visible window mounted led/alarm reciever thingo which i believe has scared away at least one thief away
  4. i think i'll just stick with the repairs for the time being ohh btw does anybody no where u can buy front cuts in WA a website is a must
  5. ended up being corrosion in the head and it finally gave out (plus corrosion in upper and lower thermo housings) result - prob a bill for about $1600 this includes new radiator (hasn't been touched in 9 years) $350 ish weld plane and deck of the head followed by a full recondition $600 ish upper and lower thermo housings and ancillaries prob $150 ish labour - who nos (prob around $500) looking for prices on a twin cam front cut maybe
  6. get it dynoed and tune it at the same time most prfessional dyno guys have lots of experience with dyno tuning and u might find a better result after a couple hours on the dyno tuning the ecu/safc2 properly then at the salt lake trials u might run ur magic number of 240kph
  7. no - i would be able to source a 'new' (read recon) excel engine for bout $700 prob (twin cam version at that) and that might be the go if it will cost far too much ($2500 will be if it is a cracked head - covers reconed or new head, labour, accesories etc etc) 4g61 hey - will look into it
  8. not neceserally sky think bout water injected cooling systems water is directly injected into the air intake to cool it down compression ratios are turned up for the loss of fuel(or down i cant remeber) and it is all honky dorry
  9. i no - its looking really good dropping in a 4g63 but cash is really slim atm
  10. reverse doughies is cool and yes u can blow a camry/corolla engine - but only the newer ones ive seen a 1984 'rolla that was trashed disconected tailshaft, brick on cellerator for 15 minutes and it still didnt give up
  11. well done don bugger bout the starvation prob tho
  12. nice love the near linear power curve - has to deliver really well fix that a/f ratio and whatever, get ur safc2 and then give a whirl again
  13. jsut ticked over 140k the other day (actually sitting on 140140 something kays) drove home 2 minutes from shop and first gear was really shit - felt like clutch was on way out - gave it revs a bit and no probs i went hmmmmmm went to my grandparents same thing with 1st drove home (5 minutes away) 3 minutes in glanced at temp gauge and was rising rapidly pulled over immediately and first thing i thought was head let it cool down a bit, checked oil cap - bad bad news yellow and creamy - never a good sign drove the rest the way home carefully - pulled up the drive and it started to boil havent touched it since its going to the mechanics on monday and will cost me between $500 - 2500 depending on whether its just a head gasket that blew (thats why i think first was really shit - it had very little compression) or if its a cracked head the 'good' thing is that it happened straight away and i havent touched it since so i hope no head warp/piston damage/valve damage if its worthwhile a new engine might be dropped in
  14. an unfortunate tragedy condolenses to all family
  15. yep def the perth v8 gts-t interesting comment actually about the steering even though it weighs 60kg less the steering is a bitch most likely because of the diff centrifugal force and torque distrubution - ie more cylinders and at an angle and prob cause the engine is mounted slightly further forward to accomodate the extra 2 cylinders plus gearbox adaptaptions etc so the weight is further forward = bitch steering my opinion - based on physics
  16. looks aws
  17. well....so much for that excel i bought in november just blew a head gasket or cracked a head (im hoping its a head gasket) very very very very very very pissed off as i cant afford anything at the moment - being a uni student and all and that i had commited to my parents to pay them back %10 every month (big mistake to make - oh well...dad says i can tune it down to something a uni student can pay - say $100 bucks a month??!!) shit happens i suppose - part of life and all that - now i gotta rely on my parents and their car (not too bad as a territory ghia is in the pipeline...very nice car btw) theres a lesson to be learnt every where so they say

  21. like my frendz 180sx running a tad rich and when run for a while the zorst gets nice and hot he hits redline and then backs off and it flames very nicely but thats a sr20det for ya
  22. rebirthed skylines is a bit of a misnommer often it is high kay engines that get rebirthed - or gtr's a simple rac/nrma/whatever company is in ur state check with the engine number and chassis number and all that should be a sufficient check and searching the forums helps - make the search ur best friend!!!
  23. same prob as impact blue but all fine now and like madaz - hope we get the dark blue skin back again
  24. thats slow my excel hits 100km/h in 15 minutes and a topspeed of about 165 lol would have like to see the roles reversed - the lambo driver chasing the swift the swift driver would have been shitting his pants
