Hey, I knocked up a quick graphic to demonstrate the situation. Im just hoping I can find replacement parts ASAP Also my lower control arm is bent aswell
-
I bent my steering arm and need to get it replaced My steering rack is straight and still works fine, like i can turn the wheels both ways. I have had a look at the area where the arm connects to the steering rack and it seems like I can just replace the arm. Does anyone know if its possible or not? If so, any pointers on removing the arm from the rack? Oh, this is on a Series 1 R33 GTS-T

Mines a laserline system - dont ask the version, i dunno. I agree, if you aint gonna fang the car around at events and such a turbo timer really is just rice...how hard is it to sit around with the keys in for an extra 45 seconds anyway If your alarm has a turbo timer interface then it may be easier than u think to hook it up, could just be a matter of connecting the timer to the alarm (correct me if im wrong). Obviously you'l need a manual specific to that alarm to tell you what goes where though. 3"/3 1/2" exhaust is heaps if you dont plan on running large'ish boost figures...imo a smaller exhaust sounds nicer than a larger one Oh, and heaps of information about the whole TT + alarm issue can be found here : http://www.google.com.au/search?as_q=timer...com&safe=images

Yeah to have the immobiliser and turbo timer work in harmony you will have it wired up specially. Something about a relay....there was an article about it on here a while ago but i cant find it anymore.. I took mine to my local car audio electrician (Alberts) and they rigged it up for $80 (also got my hand thingie re-coded at the time). Now the immobiliser automically arms 45 seconds after the turbo timer turns turns off. Much better peace of mind.

(r32gtr) No Boost, And Vacume Cleaner Noise.
rinmak replied to GTR_NUTZ's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Obviously there would be less restriction but its also highly illegal. If your going to do it I would suggest welding a pipe through the cat body (so as to make it straight through) and not get bigger, then smaller again. Keep the cat body there so that it at least looks like you have a cat -

Manual or auto? -
Posting the pics up here will help alot with the sale

If he has the money and wants a car such as a skyline or an S13/14 then i see no reason for him not to get it...even as a first car. Im sure hes already aware of the financial commitment that happens when you buy a turbo import and if he thinks hes up for it then good on him. I dont see any problem with owning a turbo car first either, it all comes down to the drivers attitude. You could kill yourself just as easily in a cheap bunky, it just depends on how you drive it.
-
I cant see anything wrong with that one, looks mint! Love the color. Obviously the test drive/inspection will tell the real story Price seems fair aswell if it truly is in good condition, not to say you shouldnt talk it down abit though

Might wanna fix the carsales link Sick looking car from looking at your avatar though! Best of luck with the sale! -
Hey prosman While your there could ya ask them how much a job like that costs usualy? Just that I cant hold the person who changed my belt to fixing it as it was done by previous owner
-
Thanks for the replys guys How much is a fair price to get a performance workshop to re-tension the belt for me? Just that im not very mechanically minded and as such dont have many tools either.

Hey guys, Ever since I have had my car I have noticed a noise thats quite audible from the engine bay. Its hard to describe but its like a constant high pitched scratching that goes up and down in tones. Anyway my mates dad reckons its because the timing belt (recently changed) is either too tight or too loose...cant remember which one Basically just want to know if either of those factors result in such a noise & if so, is it something I should get fixed...cos my friends dad reckons it will go away over time (about 5000kms on the belt so far). The belt is a genuine nissan product (part #13028-5L327) & the car is a pretty stock standard R33 GTST. Any input would be great! Thanks!

It aint the turbo making boost is it?

Hey all, FYI this has also been mirrored here: http://bur.st/~rinmak/sau/ User: sau Pass: skyline Much faster than the technine.org mirror and I would prefer if you chose either this or Links' mirror from now on MODERATORS: This really should be a sticky or under the how-to's or something. Its a very good resource. Also, I will get around to bringing some of the newer stuff over to these other mirrors when im not so lazy

When Approaching A Red Light
rinmak replied to fLipKnot's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I think its a worthy question. Interesting to know how many people use engine braking as apposed to coasting into a stop, and to get positives/negatives on each. -
Getting Old (vb) Forum Links To Work
rinmak replied to lwells's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
The old thread linking is most likely an easy solution. If this is hosted on a linux system then just symlink showthread.php -> index.php and edit index.php to contain something like if($t) { $showtopic = $t; } Near the top of the index.php file. (Obviously that assumes that register_globals is on). As for the individual posts, the solution should follow the same idea, but basically if $p then do a lookup through the database to find the thread # linked to that post id, then do a http redirect to index.php?showtopic=<topic_id>&view=findpost&p=<post_id> Should work - And I agree that making this forum backwards compatible with the old forums links would be a great thing to do! -

When Approaching A Red Light

Say im cruising up to a red light in 4th for example, I usually just cruise up to it using no gas but fully in gear, then when revs get to about 1,000rpm I will clutch it and stop the car using the brakes. I dont see the point in downshifting unless its really heavy braking. In my opinion its just more wear and tear on the clutch/gears. Coasting as soon as you see the red uses more fuel than leaving the car in gear as the car must use fuel rather than the wheels to keep the engine turning over (so i hear). -
And that you can make it go in high boost mode at all RPM's by doing the following: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=42895
