  1. Yeah I've just bought a neo to replace my old non neo 25, was just curious how close it was to a 26. I've heard the VCT is better than that on the S1/2 VCT, do you know what the actual differences are? Cheers.
  2. just remember the valving in most of these coilovers is pretty simple and basic compared to a proper bilstein performance shock, big difference in how comfortable it will be.
  3. How do these motors compare? The neo has a very similar head, rods, pistons etc but 100c less displacement, however the neo has VCT as well. For a street car would the VCT not be more beneficial than the extra displacement? Or are there other items the RB26 features which makes it a better engine.
  4. Yeah sorry that was a bit of a blanket statement, any brand could be good really if they have appropriately matched springs/shocks and the springs are not much stiffer than 4kg for a street car. 8kg however would not be good for anything other than drift, the wheels will be skipping on high power cars causing a loss of traction whether you can feel it or not, same with any bumps or pot holes they are going to cause a loss of traction there as well compared to a softer spring.
  5. I'm sorry but 8/6 is not suitable for the street, maybe a perfectly flat street and you are running semi-slick tyres able to take advantage of it. You are MUCH better off sticking to 4kg and getting some appropriate sway bars, I do not doubt it handles well, but that doesn't make it an appropriate or the best choice. V8 supercars although a different car only run 8kg springs with full slicks.
  6. There are books hundreds of pages long on the topic, do some searching, check out google, wiki etc, it is a very complicated topic. But generally for an average skyline, 4kg is a good ballpark figure to limit it to.
  7. Most of the time they are too stiff, tein super street are around 4kg from memory, not stupid 8kg fronts like half the jap stuff has, end up making the wheels skip and handle worse than stock.
  8. Dont go kingsprings, get whiteline and bilstein shocks or something else decent like that. Or tein super streets are about the only coilovers that have reasonable spring rates for our roads. Yeah it is funny how people just assume because it is a skyline it will be better, and say because it is a commodore or falcon it is a boat, there isn't that much difference once you start modding things.
  9. Why not? They both are double wishbone front and fully independent rear ends and weigh similar amounts (1400 vs 1437kg). If you are setting the springs, shocks, sway bars, caster etc all up correctly, they would have the capability to be very fast on the track (provided they have the power). What else does the R34 have that magically makes it a better platform?
  10. I never understood why people built cars like that and then sold them straight away, what is the point in spending all that money otherwise?
  11. If you had stock suspension in the AU it will be amazing difference. If both were set up with appropriate aussie road springs (4-5kg max), sway bars, appropriate shocks then the R34 will be better, but not amazingly so.
  12. even if it does run fine it will make way more power, better fuel economy and be nicer to drive with a tune.
  13. this guy is making 560awkw and spent $200k over 2 years. $100k is certainly understandable if you pay workshop rates for everything.
  14. So the question is, what is the best handling nissan out of the above and why? Note I am talking about the RWD GT-T versions of the skyline. At a complete guess I would have thought the S15 would have been the best due to being the newest and lighter than the R34 but I have nothing to back this up with apart from weight, what do you guys think? If you can back it up with some reasoning that would be tops. I'm ignoring power as a metric as they can all be easily modded to 500hp if needed.
  15. Im sure it would, but you can't beat awd for traction. What tyres are you using warlord? also can we get a street video? I want to see how insane this car is.
  16. someone in the defect thread was looking for an r33 bonnet, pm them
  17. sell the car, keep the engine and put it in a gt-4 result =
  18. how on earth did you come to that conclusion? no I'm fitting a neo rb25 to my r32 skyline lol
  19. one of the motul 8100s would be fine, go the cheaper on, or even 4100, they are all probably overkill for an NA motor
  20. Using all R32 gear and some R33 gear. VCT is manually controlled via Eboost street which has an rpm activated relay which I just set to whatever rpm I want.
  21. Probably correct, I'm not sure where I heard -5.
  22. I might play around with it on they dyno, do a run with it on and then again with it off, figure out where they overlap and base it on that to get the best point. As long as it is pretty much the same shouldn't be an issue though.
  23. I'm fitting my neo tomorrow and wanted to know if there are any differences in how the VCT is operated. Is it the same as the s1/2 rb25 where ti is switched on just above idle (~1000rpm) and switched off again at 4500rpm? Also out of curiosity does it operate the same mechanically by retarding the intake cam -5degrees?
