  1. just remove it, I would almost guarantee it will give the results you are after.
  2. Why is the ignition timing that low that it suggest limp mode? It however does not get rich when I get high in the rev range, also when its fast or slow neither blow black smoke. I'm replacing the AFM with a Q45 (got it cheap) when I get it tuned so it will rule this out as being the problem. The volts go all the way up to 5.1v when I've been looking at the datalogs so could it just be the AFM maxing out and the ecu pulling timing because of that?
  3. No one got any ideas? slowly getting all my bits and it should be off to the tuners in a week or so.
  4. Just remove the middle muffler/resonator, it'll be cheaper and you'll retain the decent muffler at the rear. cannons look crap don't get one. You have a turbo car so most the drone and rasp will be muffled by the turbo anyway.
  5. Cool guess I'll be going down sat and making something up.
  6. It is probably the worst of both worlds, locked in carparks making it chirp and drive you mad, opens up under power around corners.
  7. Thats what I think I will do with mine. Do they have boxes with screw terminals mounted in them? Or did you have to glue it all together?
  8. You ran a 9.6 with a full monty? I'm guessing AWD and you just drop it at 9k lol? The real question will be how long it lasts, let us know how it is in 6 months.
  9. Details stat.
  10. http://www.fuelinjectorclinic.com/injector...hnical/faq.html Just read this, does this mean the GTR injectors technically need different driving circuitry to run optimally as they are peak and hold instead of constant current? I'm guessing as nissan installed a resistor box in the GTRs from factory it is of no issue but probably means the injectors are not being operated optimally.
  11. Yeah any computer that allows a 3rd dimension to the fuel/ignition maps will be capable of doing it. As currently most fuel/ignition maps are controlled via rpm and airflow. They have trim maps based on TPS etc sometimes but to use an alcohol fuel ratio sensor you need to modify fuel and ignition, and its not linear, need a complete map.
  12. Going to make up my own resistor pack, just confirming the resistors I need. 10Ohm and 10 watt should be sufficient? I = V/R = 12/14 = 0.85Amp P = VI = 12 * 0.85 = 10.3 Watt Now being as we are operating under the engine bay where temps are ridiculous is a 10 watt resistor going to be sufficient? Or should I use two 5Ohm resistors in series? Also how are you guys joining the wires in the engine bay, are you using high quality solder joins where you splay the wires together and then use heatshrink, or are you using crimp connectors? I figure my injectors are one of the most important parts of the engine so I want to do it properly, what would you guys recommend?
  13. Yep the sensors most certainly are. The only problem is you basically need a motec to take advantage of them, basically you need two maps, one with petrol one with e85 and then you need to interpolate between the two using the sensor. Ultimately you would create 4 or so maps in case its not a linear relationship between the two fuels and have the ecu interpolate between them all. Not really that cheap to set up, but very effective when done, almost all new cars from the factory are capable of doing this.
  14. I had worn the tips off my fan from it hitting my intercooler piping, I then snapped the rest of the bits off. They can't really see it so no one said anything. As long as the intake pipe isn't floating around in the engine bay it shouldn't be an issue.
  15. Yeah might as well just get a completely different 6 cylinder for that price that already has those sort of features built into it. Pretty sure the VQ35/37 do it.
  16. Two profiles is barely variable cam timing, you want it to be continuously variable and to be able to vary between more than two settings. I guess it is better than nothing though heh.
  17. Wonder if you can get electric cam gears, map them to load points in the tune. Now that would allow for some very good gains. Basically be an aftermarket VCT/VVTi Only problem is you'd probably need a motec to tune it effectively.
  18. Cheers for that jonno My mate just offered me a near new condition Q45 afm for $100, is the tuning resolution of the Q45 much higher than the Z32? Don't want to get it if only say 25% of the resolution will be used, will make it more sensitive to noise and probably slightly harder to tune with, but $100 is dickloads cheaper than ~300 odd for the z32. Would you guys grab it ?
  19. Shotgun! lol If the plug is the same, is there any possibility the air flow meter is also the same? Guess I'll be making a trip down to the wreckers this weekend, they are a 6 pin plug yes?
  20. Would it be possible to set up some sort of clutching system so it slips slightly until you get right on the throttle making it quieter? All the supercharged v8s I hear only tend to really whine when full throttle.
  21. $50 for a plug? Surely I can buy something for $5 and wire it up myself, its just a piece of bloody plastic. I love the skyline tax on everything
  22. So some days my car just feels really quite slow, even if its 10c outside (normally ridiculously fast) it feels doughy with the throttle and it dies in the ass by about 6k as if the ignition has been pulled. Boost rises normally and it revs cleanly with no missing. Car currently has a 6k rev limit due to standard injectors and afm on an rb25det with gcg highflow running 10-12psi. It is going in for retune in a few weeks but I did a datalog with ecu talk for fun tonight when it was getting slow. Was wondering if someone with some tuning experience could look at it and see if it looks like it is pulling timing? basically its a full throttle run from 2k to 6k. I throttle off at the 5787 point hence the large drop in timing.
  23. What about the plug to adapt it to an r32 loom, can I just get a generic one from jaycar and wire it up? Or is it some specialised connector I need to buy as well?
  24. Anyone beating this price?
  25. Run it down to the empty line and then fill up with a full tank.
