  1. With those power levels you really want to be doing those adjustments on a dyno as you can't tell if its leaning out or if you are maxing out the injectors. Perhaps ask to stick around when he does it so you can have a play as well?
  2. Yeah I pulled the links out the source and used a download accelerator, managed to get 2.2mb/s that way by using 10 connections. I HATE embedded videos unless they are using youtube, anything else sucks balls, always prefer a direct link to download with.
  3. Good videos but the speed is limited to 120kb/s, bloody annoying when its a 70mb video and you've got a max download speed of 2.2mb/s
  4. Whats the point in spending $500 on an ecu that can't handle the boost being upped. Might as well get a nistune for $300 and put the $200 towards the tune.
  5. Being as 'highflow' can mean absolutely anything then there is no way to guess.
  6. Depends entirely on your dyno, if you are running the standard turbo I would imagine anywhere from 170kw to 200kw depending on whether the dyno reads low or high. Also depends on how good the tune is and the condition of the motor.
  7. Or I could just pay the $300 to get it tuned and not worry about it
  8. All the things you mentioned are less dicey than putting a blind tune on your car.
  9. Running an off the shelf remap is always going to be dicey, just because it works some times does not mean it is a good idea.
  10. Mine had the CAS wound all the way back to stop it pinging and ran so rich the wideband sensor was maxed out, I was even getting rich misfires so must have been around 9:1 AFRs. So there is one example.
  11. I've driven a skyline as a daily for the last 5 years, drive it almost every single day with no issues. Where do you live? I wouldn't even get the opportunity to be pulled over most days, there just aren't that many police around.
  12. 12psi on a 2.5L motor is pushing way more air than 12psi on a 2L motor, hence the 25 turbo is spinning far harder in that situation.
  13. Well it does stand out a lot more than other cars
  14. I've driven overly loud modified skylines for the last 5 years and never been defected. The 3 times I've been pulled over I got off.
  15. Just don't drive like a dick on the streets, avoid town and bay cruising and anything else that draws unnecessary attention to yourself and you shouldn't have any issues.
  16. Re my post above, yes I had a mines chip in my ec, it was absolute garbage, they had to wind the cas back as it had advanced the ignition so far it would ping on 98 octane fuel with octane additive as well.
  17. The turbo shit itself recently (I sold the car), but it ran for about 30,000kms at that boost without issue. Car had about 140,000kms on it at the time. Was the older redtop ECCS rb20det as well. If you are running much higher eg 15+ then yes it is definitely risky. Any boost level about standard is going to reduce the life of the turbo, there are just so many factors when figuring out how long until it dies though.
  18. Sounds like the boost controller is faulty. Get a cheapo ball bearing bleed valve, they always work.
  19. What is the point of failure when overspeeding a stock turbo? Is it the bearings? Or do the impellers become unbalanced and just eat housing and explode?
  20. I was running 12.5-13psi on my RB20DET with no boost controller. The reason is once you add a freeflowing exhaust it removes backpressure on the wastegate making it open easier. That coupled with intake, fmic, higher boost etc all make it creep up higher than stock. It is completely normal and there is no way to make it lower apart from putting the car back stock. Personally I would just get a FMIC and get a nistune, should make 190kw at least and be very nice to drive.
  21. I'm 23 and drive a modified R32 GTST skyline, I've had no at fault claims or accidents or loss of license, excessive speeding fines etc. Is there anyone apart from just car worth trying? $400 is fine for third party but if I can get full comp for around $1k I would consider it.
  22. I was running 12psi, had an intercooler and exhaust and that was enough to get complete boost cut where the ecu kills the ignition for 2 seconds, I also got the horribly misfiring and complete lack of power over 5.5k due to it running so rich it was misfiring (below 10:1 when it got on the dyno. The stock ecu can shit itself as soon as you start flowing much more air than standard.
  23. Yes they can be very loud if you have a pod filter, its the air basically coming back from the recirc pipe.
  24. Making sure the cat is really hot helps as well, take it for a good flogging before the test so the exhaust is really cooking.
  25. That is a full blown emissions test by the sounds of it, not cheap and very hard to pass unless the car is 100% standard. Why do you have to complete it, are you running an aftermarket turbo/injectors/ECU or something? If that is the case people normally pay thousands of dollars to get that kind of thing engineered.
