  1. After an R32 rb20det gearbox or equivalent in decent condition, will also consider clutch if it has a decent one with it. Will check these forums but you can get me on 0423 277 771
  2. Are those figures from the same dyno? if not then don't worry about it.
  3. Something is pretty seriously f**ked by the sound of it, no way of knowing what without dismantling the bottom end, sorry to say but its going to be pricey.
  4. Another cause can be the car running way too rich, this will exasperate the cracked or worn out coils. I've heard of people having this problem with f**ked coils and then getting a re-map from 10:1 to 12:1 and the problem going away.
  5. Wonder if this will still retain that awesome engine note rb20s have.
  6. Just drain it and start from scratch, never really a good idea to mix oils. Won't hurt giving it an early change as well.
  7. Remember people you won't need to spin it as hard as an rb30 to make big power though, so even if its 1-2k lower it will still crush the rb30.
  8. The bigger the turbo the less it muffles the exhaust, that's why you can get away with a straight through setup on a stock rb20 and still have it bearably loud. With a GT30 the exhaust wheel is that much bigger and doesn't do a good job at muffling so you need a better exhaust setup. Keep this is mind when choosing exhausts people, turbo size influences the noise level drastically.
  9. The settings will only adjust the shocks, if the springs are simply too stiff you will need to change them. Go measure the springs and post in sydneykids thread and he can work out roughly what your stiffness is. You can then go from there and adjust or replace as necessary.
  10. Too bad there won't be much trance at sensation white in melbourne.
  11. Read the thread.
  12. whoops
  13. In an old redtop rb20 my motor drank about 500ml of shell 5w30 over 5000km, it also developed a few leaks. The consumption and leaks went away when I went to 5w40 motul 8100 Synforce oils are only a semi synthetic, sounds like their marketing worked well on you I highly doubt it is any better then your castrol semi synthetics and Ihighly doubt it is better then the motul, mobil 1, and redline fully synthetic products. Have a read on their website. http://www.synforce.com.au/synthetics.html What product of theirs are you using and how much is it ?
  14. Just a quick tip, if you leave your car in a dodgy area as well as getting a good alarm installed remove the fuel pump fuse or something along those lines its simple and 99% of thieves will over look it. Ive heard of people doing this, coming back to find a smashed window and broken ignition but their car still there. Personally I do it when I leave my car in dodgy suburbs even for a few minutes, takes 30 seconds at most.
  15. Sounds like it needs a proper tune.
  16. I don't think you understand what I am saying Dohmar, what you are saying is correct and I'm not arguing that. The only point for higher fsb ram is so you can push the cpu frequency higher. I was bottlenecked to 2.8ghz or something before my ram was running out of spec and crashing. 1066 ram let me push it to 3.2ghz without it running the ram out of spec and hence it was stable. I agree latency is more important then mhz (to an extent) with ram, however a higher cpu speed is more important than either of these. Cpu mhz increase > ram latency > ram mhz As for parts I think you will find MSY has a majority of parts cheaper then anywhere else in Australia, its easier to get everything from one local store as well.
  17. Completely agreed, my mate built a system for just over $1k with a e8400, 8800gt, 2gb ram etc, its blistering fast. If you need big hd and screens etc anything over $2k is a waste of money, if you already have a case and screen I would never spend over $1k. This is assuming you are building it yourself and have access to a copy of windows.
  18. Sorry but it doesn't add up, go find me a benchmark that shows more then 1-2% increase in real world performance, we aren't talking synthetic ram benchmarks, real world usage. A big CPU overclock you don't even need a benchmark to show how completely obvious it is that its faster.
  19. Sure if he doesn't like to tinker, but they are great overclockers, as long as you don't mess with the volts I don't think you can easily do any damage.
  20. Disagreed, going to 1066 ram meant I could get an extra 400mhz out of my cpu. This made a huge difference in performance. Trust me there really isn't that much difference to the extra latency, I can dig up some comparisons and graphs if you want.
  21. Personally I'd get a cheaper brand in 1066mhz DDR2 ram., that way you can easily reap the benefits from overclocking the E8400, can get a lot more power out of them then stock. For example my E6600 I've overclocked from 2.4ghz to 3.2ghz on stock volts and cooling, stable running 24/7. edit: What Dohmar said about latency is true, however a bigger overclock is better then either.
  22. Lol my mate yelled out SKYRINE HOTUDOGUDESKA in the most Asian sounding voice you could when we went for a drive one day. Was a group of about 5 people that looked at us strangely that he didn't see.
  23. Well all my syncros are pretty shot as well so I'm replacing it with an rb25det box for ~$700 delivered from japan (mates importing a car so free freight) Expect to pay up to $1500 locally for a rb25 box or ~$400 for a rb20 box. Repair would vary dramatically depending on how much of the work you could do yourself, if you can't even pull the box out yourself I'd imagine it would be similar to just replacing the box.
  24. Haha more like group hug LOL.
  25. I'm gonna book a hotel in a few weeks with some mates, gonna be WILD!!
