Its not that bad, I sold laptops as my full time job for a year a few years ago and as long as you use the same sticks its fine. Its only older laptops when using new high density 512mb pc133 sticks that they have trouble. Just get a matched pair and you should have no worries.

If you have a small screw driver undo the panels on the back of the laptop, 99% of the time the ram is there and you'll be able to easily see how many you have.

The sad part is thats probably true. However a lot of people do recycle machines, theres a company in the hills that takes old pcs (pentium 3s etc) fixes them up so they can get on the internet and do word processing and sells them for next to nothing. A P3 is really all you need to do 80% of office tasks.

Another question is what do the revs matter? If you have two cars that make good power over a wide power range surely the one that does it at a lower rpm would be better?

They still degrade over time as well though, a decent DVD should last a lifetime.

Its not rubbish, hes in the wrong. How would you like it if you were going through an orange light and someone pulled in front of you? Sure he was speeding and making a mad dash, however he should have waited until there was no cars, its not like he was going so fast he couldn't see him, or the light was blatantly red. He has no defence his insurance will have to pay out. In those situations you should be extra careful as LOTS of accidents happen that way, and a lot of people do the mad dash for the orange light. A good habbit my dad taught me was if you are in that situation and going through an orange with the possibility of someone turning right in front of you is flash your high beams so they can be certain you are going through.

Cmon man 'Intel wins' Sure they have the superior chip out at the moment, but there's been plenty of times when AMD have had the lead. It might be your opinion but that certianly doesn't make it correct. What about when ATI brought out the 9700? NVIDIA had nothing to compete with it. The screen went garbled but the game kept playing for about 10 seconds, then it hung with the audio looping. I reset and the text was random colours and all garbled in the bios, windows logo was all messed up. Computer still ran but colours etc were all wrong and had lines through everything. Put in another card and it was fine. Its most likely the ram on the board. I sent it off today express with insurance. Managed to get a Radeon x550 256mb card from work to pass the time until it gets RMAd. The R600 isn't due out for a while and I wanted to get some gaming in before Uni gets back hence the choice. 8800 wasn't an option as the x1950xt cost $365 and the cheapest 8800 is still $600+ Pauly thats a heap of biased crap, ATI have made competetant cards for a long time, Ive used many ATI and NVIDIA cards in my time and they have all been fantastic. Anyway name a card as good as or better then the X1950XT for the same price. None.

Just received all my parts for my new system (C2D [email protected], 2gb 800mhz, Gigabyte S3 board). All working fine then BAM crashes mid game. Restart and screens all corrupted, turns out to be my brand spanking new HIS X1950XT Off to brisbane for an RMA on its 2nd day. The worst part is I have to use a 2mb PCI vid card until I get it back, this means a max res of 1024x768 @ 16bit on my 21" widescreen. Even though its screamingly fast it still feels like a pentium 166. /rant

With engineering you actually have to try to get good grades. Some of the subjects are pretty easy, eg programming and the computer ones I didn't even study for or go to lectures and got distinctions. Maths, Chemistry and Electronics I studied all damn year and only got credits.

wow, the industry actually cares what your GPA is? I wonder if engineering is the same. Cause some of the really bright kids in my courses that have good ideas don't necessarily get top marks.

This is where its interetsing, the cefiros were infact redtops with a silver coloured top. The internals, turbo, ecu are all redtop ECCS spec.
