  1. Mate works at an Audi workshop, they had a car sitting for 2 years and someone tried to start it. The petrol had thickened and needed new lines and pump as they were all clogged up.
  2. If you look up the top of a thread you can click options "track this topic" that way you will still get email notifications without having to reply, pretty handy.
  3. both of my runs were .4 of a kw different.
  4. With properly suited gearing and diff ratio it wouldnt really matter, as long as you can keep it in the rev range.
  5. I have a set of coilpacks out of a redtop eccs rb20det with 104000kms on it, no loom or igniter, just the coils. They were in working order when taken out of the car. Located in Adelaide but will post interstate at buyers expense using COD or express post. Not really sure on the going price for used coilpacks these days so Im going to say $200 but I will take the closest offer. Don't be scared to make an offer, as I said I'm not really sure of the going price. These will suit either redtop rb20 found in HR31s and laurels I think? With an adaptor they can be used in just about any skyline. Contact: Send me a PM, Im on here most days or call 0423 277 771 I don't have any pictures but I can get some on request.
  6. If you want the flutter sound you have to remove/block off both your bov's. Is the HKS one set up so its recirculating?
  7. Could be a spark related problem if its actually misfiring. Good threads on that. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=51046 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=32356 White smoke though, no idea.
  8. The ECCS model actually had a much better turbo very similar to the silvertop, the NICS model is probably the one you are thinking of which is terrible and chokes after 5000rpm. Either way when this turbo dies Im gonna replace it with a stock RB25 turbo. I doubt they will lean out the ratios out though, it would probably be just as bad.
  9. Its actually running no bov at all that makes that sound, if you block up your stock one the air will have no where to go when the throttle closes so it reverses and goes back through the compressor blades getting chopped up and then back out the pod. This gives you the flutter noise. A big thread on it here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=60655
  10. Yes you can, if its running rich eg 10:1 and you lean it out to 12.5 you'll make more power and have better economy.
  11. Just got a dyno of my car (HR31 Coupe), its making 127rwkw. Its basically stock standard with a 3" split pulse dump, full exhaust, FMIC and splitfire coils. Now its running very rich in the midrange (pretty normal for the redtop ECUs), down to dead on 10:1 at about 5000rpm. Goes back up to 11 ish up higher up and then back down to 10 again. You can see big holes in the power curve where it richens up when I compare it to the afr graph. Now I dont plan to do much to this motor, probably a stock rb25 turbo when the standard one gives up the ghost but aside from that that is all. Now Im thinking a SAFC might be a good bandaid fix to this problem, lean it out to 12.5 through out the range should pick up ~20kw? in the middle where it richens up and smoothen out the power delivery. I know a full ECU would do a much better job, but at $1500+ installed and tuned for a decent ECU it seems like a waste of money considering my plans for the motor. I may as well put that money towards a better car with all the goodies already. What are your thoughts, Boostworx quoted me $250 installed and tuned for a SAFC which seems like a cheap option.
  12. Do I get an award for lowest reading of the day? 127 woooohoo
  13. Does it matter if its cold or hot? What gap are your plugs? Try gapping down to .6 what makes you certain its not your coils? check the timing, maybe the cas is rooted? Still running stock boost? what does your guage say its running?
  14. hr31 redtop rb20det here we come, has the usual exhaust and has been chipped. Hopefully see ~130rwkw
  15. Just out of curiousity how do you guys gap your plugs? Ive always just put a feeler guage in between it and squash it but Im sure theres a better way.
  16. You'll never make that mistake again Not as bad as my mate, he rebuilt a 12A motor from an RX7, expensive rebuild, cost about $2800 anyway they fired it up and some how he managed to drop a bolt down the carby. BANG, housings and rotors all had deep groves in them so needed a whole new motor. Lucky his dad's workshop forked out for the price.
  17. Its not too bad, just drive it until it gets to the stage where its really down on power or its using alot of oil.
  18. Its definately overboosting, does it have a boost controller or anything? If not check the vacuum hoses going to the wastegate and make sure they are perished or cracked. 14psi on the stock turbo untuned is asking for trouble. A proper boost gauge would be a good investment.
  19. Ive got a 3" system with high flow cat and a $100 cheapo cannon. It sounds really nice at idle and full load, has that fantastic skylne roar. It is quite loud though, definately not legal but it doesnt drone like those commodores that would give you a headache driving everyday either. Id recommend if you want quiet and decent flow 3" with a big resonator and as said above, the biggest bodied muffler you can find, a 2.5" outlet wouldnt affect flow too badly. Something like sinistagtst has would be perfect, they look much nicer then a cannon as well.
  20. Well I finally got some splitfires, at the same time I replaced the plugs with new ones with a 1.1 gap (old ones were down to .6. Took it for a spin then and it poped once at 5500rpm out of about 6 high rpm 2nd gear runs. Pretty happy with the result, it used to pop like crazy and loose lots of power once I hit 5k. Ill see how it goes this week and if I keep getting a few even minor pops at those revs Ill gap the plugs down to .8 and it should be perfect.
  21. Oh boy, this'll be fun.
  22. They are hairline, you can barely see them. Get a magnifying glass and they should be more obvious. Tape the entire thing to be sure, a few wraps around every bit of it. Often there is blueish scalding there from the heat.
