  1. I got a green sticker from an rb20det AFM and put it on my Z32, they look identical if you do that. GT3076 definitely will get picked up, you need a stock turbo. A huge pain in the ass! why not just go through and then change it if they notice? The car isn't even running when they do the inspection so nothing to smell really.
  2. So you want to make it quieter? If so make a gasket for the stock bov with a smaller opening, that is what I did to decrease the noise.
  3. Can someone post a link to the japanese manual I am going to give it a go translating it with a few plugins.
  4. probably won't even start if you don't factor in a good tuner
  5. There are programs that will scan in the text in japanese so that it can be copy pasted, you could then do a direct translation with a variety of programs, it won't be easy to read but its better than nothing. There are a few plugins for adobe acrobat that make the text searchable, once you've done that it shouldn't be too much effort to find something to do a direct translation.
  6. leave it standard and get a pod if you want noise
  7. They dont check idle emissions, if they suspect something they will request you get an application to modify vehicle and specify it as a condition on there. You will be fine, if your injection system looks stock, stock ECU then you will be fine.
  8. Just read about your awesome effort with simons drift cat tao, top work sourcing something last minute like that! http://www.smdrift.com.au/1/post/2012/06/adgp-round-2-wrap-up.html
  9. I can't believe you blew up a 25 box, that mustn't happen every often? also what killed the turbo, just extended high temperatures cook the bearings/rear wheel? Sucks to have two major things go like that, sounds like you have a blast either way though!
  10. It isn't legal, but you'll almost certainly pass an inspection though.
  11. Depends do the injectors look stock or do you have a custom fuel rail that makes it obvious?
  12. Interesting, I thought that would just make the syncros worse, might try it in my next shitbox.
  13. someone page mafia
  14. The stock bov with a POD makes a psshhhh noise anyway, and if you use an atmo valve your car will stall and pop on gearchanges, just use the stock one.
  15. Do you at least use headphones to listen for very mild knock? When my engine was right on the edge of det we couldn't hear it from in the car but with headphones you could hear the faintest rattle, you wouldn't want to put a car out on the street in that state as if the temperature goes up 10c, your fuel is bad and drops a point or two in octane then you'll have an engine that is a walking time bomb.
  16. The factory ones aren't reliable that is why.
  17. that and the nissan seal of approval is often better than that of a lot of engine builders around the country.
  18. Issues like that are almost always wiring or user/setup issue rather than the ECU itself, they are pretty much all 100% the same, identical firmware, identical software, the only variables are the inputs going in and the setup/tuning of everything.
  19. More likely clogged/dirty if stock.
  20. Ah nice, how reliably do you find it detects knock? 94 is pretty hot though!
  21. What temperatures did you log it getting to? it is pretty hard to hear knock over the mechanical noise, are you using the stock knock sensors or aftermarket? I wouldn't trust the stock gear to pick up anything over 5000 rpm, apparently nissan disables them over this rpm range anyway as they just pick up too much noise.
  22. I don't think the O2 feedback works when cold, I've unplugged the O2 sensor and there is no change to idle until warm. The O2 does seem to work though, if you give it a rev it flicks over to rich.
  23. 12:1 afr for a track car? that personally would have made me nervous, cracked ring land screams det as well, probably fine for a few minutes at full noise, but with track temps and heatsoak it might not have been enough leg room. Could have been something else, rev limiter action or who knows but if you replace the motor it I'd definitely drop it down for the track, be nice to get a temp gauge and see what sort of temps it is seeing but sometimes it is just easier to guess and err on the safe side.
