  1. There are comparison dyno graphs somewhere on here, I know mine added 15kw in the midrange, unsure of top end loss with it stuck on though.
  2. Wow that is f**king dodgy, no wonder the gov canned it.
  3. After some reading I've seen that in some states the IM240 has been classed as flawed and not required due to a limited number of testing stations. Couldn't find much clarification on what IS required in place of it now though. Interesting. edit: like you said the 5-gas test is all that is required now, at least in WA that is the case, I am unsure of other states.
  4. Yeah which is why I questioned it, and if it wasn't a full IM240 test then it hasn't really been engineered, they have just done a dodgy and put it through with either a stock turbo or a stock looking turbo so it doesn't get questioned.
  5. Is that a full IM240 test? or just an idle emissions test? If the former then who is his tuner?
  6. Wiggled? How are they joined, properly crimped etc? Could be a crack solder joint, or if you've just tape and twisted it then yeah.
  7. I've heard of people wiring it permanently on because it performs better than off, so I wouldn't be too worried about it say burning out the solenoid or anything. Know it is fine in my car using a window switch, I just make it turn off below 1.5k so it isn't on all the time.
  8. You can get big flames with a cat if you mess with the tune, that or run an atmo bov with a MAF and get the exhaust stinking hot.
  9. it is why I bought a $450 3 cylinder 1L charade for a shitbox A-B car that never breaks down when my skyline is off the road.
  10. What does tuning have to do with me saying two engines making the same power level will use different amounts of fuel? He even agreed they would use different amounts of fuel, I don't even know why there is a debate. If we really want to make appeals to authority to justify our claims, then I am the engineer and he is not. Kind of silly isn't it? lol I think the OP came to a conclusion ages ago.
  11. So why do you "know exactly what you are talking about" and others don't ?
  12. I'm not sure if this is a serious question? How on earth am I meant to know the different efficiencies of the two engines? It involves hundreds of things! All I said is it would be different...
  13. I have no idea, would come down to many factors... valve train friction, the v8 has more valves, pushrods, but each piston is lighter, the turbo car has higher VE but less cylinders.... Id flip a coin imo. Probably go the LS1 because of more conservative cam profiles/emissions laws when the motor came out.
  14. It was a serious suggestion...
  15. If you don't aim to go over 5k why not get a gt28 or something more appropriate for that rev range?
  16. This is what I've heard you can do as well, be pretty easy to f**k it up though.
  17. It only takes a couple hours to pull the timing cover and all the ancillary belts etc off to get to the oil pump.
  18. Yes which is directly related to cam profile and boost pressure.
  19. lol mafia relax
  20. More revs means more inefficiencies due to friction in all the moving parts, different revs mean different intake speeds due to the cam (which is why torque changes and isn't always the same) on boost, off boost changes things as well. The same power at the same AFR can be COMPLETELY different.
  21. Metal on metal won't seal dude, it might seal with sealant but will probably fail over time, you need a gasket....
  22. Race mode and fuel consumption should be the same tune imo, no reason why it can't be, you spend 90% of the time at low revs so how much boost etc you are running doesn't make a huge difference.
  23. Yep make sure to read it and clarify anything over the phone, I personally have all my mods listed on my renewal, they stated unless the non approved mods are a cause or factor in an accident they won't void the claim.
  24. Yeah totally agree if you can get a turn flow that is just as good, I'm not 100% convinced yet that you can though. That and in SA they don't care if you drill a hole.
  25. You are signing a contract, the contract doesn't have to be law abiding. If you tell them about ALL of your illegal mods and they decide to cover you still then they have to pay out. If you don't tell them about the mods they can just turn around and go "we wouldn't have covered you if you told us about that mod" and void your claim.
