  1. No real issue at all. It isn't like you use much fuel at idle anyway though.
  2. What was the problem out of curiosity?
  3. You ran 25psi without a tune, that is what went wrong. Even 20psi when tuned for 15psi will almost certainly detonate. I remember telling you in the hypergear thread months ago not to do this, all it takes is 10 seconds of sustained detonation and pop goes your motor is the result the majority of the time. Don't do anything and see what happens, get it on a dyno first thing and do not boost it even once. Get the tune right, then play with things WHILST on the dyno. If you don't I can guarantee you will blow up your new motor. Please DO NOT put the 20psi actuator on without being on the dyno. All your problems that you listed are caused by detonation.
  4. Hypergear what happened to your electric charger? I'm curious if it made much power at all. My idle is about 17:1 as well, and yeah it does pop quite a lot, but it still runs smooth, doesn't get hot or anything.
  5. Just read all this thread, when you finally get it running again promise you won't run more than 10psi without getting it to a tuner first, get the tuner to strip out timing and make it ridiculously rich, even up in the load cells you aren't close to touching. Then go play with the actuators and get the right boost, once you have the right boost take it back and get it tuned at that boost. Remember if you change nothing you will blow the new motor up just as fast, the issue wasn't with the motor, it was with everything else. Should save a repeat incident. Good luck with it all.
  6. Like when my car wouldn't start, I tried everything then suggested broken camshaft, everyone lold and said no way, in the end it was an broken camshaft haha.
  7. A stuffed valve stem seal will cause it to burn oil, not sure if it will leak much/any compression though, anyone confirm?
  8. I have heard of some minor issues in a few cases with the Z32, from what I read it was only a small subset of them, the 16bit ones and possibly some of the 8 bit ones, I would ask the nistune guys to clarify though. Knowing that the Z32 controls VCT is a fairly big bonus, however if you need a boost controller and buy an Eboost street or Eboost 2 then that has a window switch built in and can control VCT for you, making it free.
  9. Thanks for looking, has been happening for over a year, I just assumed everyone noticed, there were hundreds of comments in every single thread over 100 pages long. Guess no one did look into it lol.
  10. I am at a loss to understand how it made tuning difficult if it wasn't changing maps, sounds like traction control or something weird kicking in? is it possible to verify the ignition in the map vs actual ignition where the power dips to see if something is kicking in and pulling timing? Should be fairly easy to data log that.
  11. Yes, it is much much faster, 280kw however isn't as you get a significant increase in lag. 250kw you can get with almost stock like response, it is the most I would go for with a 2.5L street car.
  12. You will have exactly the same problems with a GTR. All high performance skylines are tempermental and need everything perfect to work. It isn't just R33s or just hypergear turbos, it is ALL setups on all performance cars. Which is why I always tell everyone, 250kw+ is a $4k adventure minimum, quite often more when stuff breaks or doesn't work first go.
  13. The things that kill a motor are detonation, the more fuel you add the more of a barrier you have for detonation due to the fuel sucking temperature out of the intake charge/cylinder. You might lose 10kw, but if it means your motor lasts forever then that is totally worth it. 10.5 to 11:1 is what I request personally when getting an engine tuned regardless of whether it pings at higher afr.
  14. If it is a stock motor better to be extra safe at 10.5, especially if you belt it in the warmer months or track it.
  15. lol no they don't sarge, evos wipe the floor with an RB in every single way.
  16. It isn't about psi, it is the torque levels that break things. You stop turning the boost up when it stops making power or starts detonating, he said he went to 18psi with a 3kw increase up top, imo his tuner made the right decision.
  17. I put USED skyline oil in my barina lol, I never dump the oil, I just keep topping it up and it burns it. Put about 10L in there in the last 6 months.
  18. Find out if you can swap it for a manual ECU for a small cost, I'm sure they would be happy to swap over the daughterboard for the cost of labour only.
  19. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/261613-hypergear-hiflow-service-continued/ http://www.skylinesa...-goods-on-oils/ Both of these thread give "[#10151] An unknown error occurred" whenever I post, the post comes up but I get the error each time, both threads are over 100 pages. Any idea why this happens? Workaround? Or should we just make another "thread #2" once they get to 100 pages?
  20. Sure does. Up to lap 13 now.
  21. If it is going into the knock map sounds like dodgy wiring for a sensor or a failed sensor. When it goes into the knock map certain features are turned off I think, things like closed loop etc. Post over on the nistune forums, you should get an answer within a day or so.
  22. snap
  23. Do, because it might be possible to rectify it, email pete or matt at nistune with the issues, they will get onto it quick smart and help you out, those guys are fantastic.
  24. That is because it is listed about 8000x times in this thread, in the first post as well and also on his website.
