  1. I completely forgot I snapped a stud when putting it on, almost certainly that, I'll give them a buzz tomorrow.
  2. So it is different from other dyno sheets? Aren't they all predicted hp? Or do you mean theyve inflated it to give flywheel hp instead of wheel hp? What would be the purpose of that?
  3. Thanks for the advice guys, I'll let you know how it goes.
  4. Why? TO4 can mean any of a shitload of turbos?
  5. Highflowed rb20 turbo, it isn't compressor surge as I know what that sounds like and it is nothing like this, I have also run this turbo on an rb25 before without issues. Stock recirc bov, eboost street.
  6. Someone's in a grumpy mood.
  7. Ah that makes more sense, missed the dotted line before
  8. After speaking to the workshop again they seem to think it is the gasket between the two halves of the plenum, probably never would have been touched so hope that is what it is.
  9. You think turbo/exhaust manifold gasket?
  10. Very weird looking dyno plot, looks more like a torque plot than a power one. Torque must absolutely nose dive after peak boost.
  11. If it has been highflowed by someone it means nothing as they would have changed the wheels.
  12. Lol I made the opening post in this thread haha I usually use motul 8100 when I can get it for $59
  13. Nope just had it replaced with a metal item, car doesn't loose any power either when it happens, drives fine just the noise sounds horrible.
  14. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/373471-trumpet-sounding-air-leak-when-turbo-spools-up-cant-find-where/ Can't find where the boost leak is, if anyone has any input that would be muchly appreciated. : )
  15. So I finished my engine swap about a month ago (25 neo in a 32) and sent it off to boostworx to get a few minor things fixed up new metal intake, getting some broken studs and stuff I cbfd doing myself fixed. Now everything was finished up last week and the car seemed great the first 5 minutes then I noticed that on 18psi when the turbo spools up whether you flatten it from 2k or rev it out slowly and then plant it at 5k it makes this flapping trumpet noise as it spools to full boost, the noise goes away after full boost has been achieved though. So if you drive it flat from 2k it happens around 3-4k then goes away, or if you rev it to say 5k and plant it it happens around 5.5-6k then goes away. I thought possibly at peak torque the engine was cocking over and slightly causing a gasket or intercooler pipe to leak however we have pressure tested the entire system and have not found the leak, it also doesn't really happen on the dyno only on the road so we can't find it when sticking our heads in the engine bay. The noise is an extremely loud trumpet flappy noise, being as it only happens on the road it is proving very difficult to diagnose. Apart from pulling the intake manifold off and redoing the intake gasket (I had to swap it during my coversion) I'm not sure where else to look, rather not do this as its a huge pain in the ass and might not be the issue. Aside from replacing the clamps on the silicon intercooler joiners what other gaskets etc should I be looking at? We have already had the AAC gasket replaced and replaced the studs for the TB as they were leaking as well. Sounds like it is coming from the bottom right of the car when driving, but that could just be because of where the driver window is. AFRs are fine and the car doesn't run rich so there is a possibility it isn't a leak and something entirely different. Any ideas be much appreciated.
  16. You said it was high flowed, it is still highly possible some backyarder put mismatched wheels in the housings and it simply isn't suitable for your engine or power level.
  17. BW are obviously a massive company no doubt plagued with bureaucracy and bullshit like all large companies, this is probably a very small side project some head person decided to embark on and they don't really care if it succeeds or not, the company certainly isn't dependant on it anyway. Hypergears entire business depends on whether he sells it or not, hence he tests everything. I can see why it is the way it is tbh.
  18. I hate you, I just spilt coffee on my laptop! Seriously though it just sounds like a mismatched shitty highflow turbo that has a small exhaust housing and small compressor. However it could be lots of other things, we need a dyno sheet with AFR and a boost plot to give you any real information, anything less will leave us guessing.
  19. Yeah just do a kando, almost as good as a garret, cheap, simple and win. f**k the twin stockos off.
  20. You actually broke a spanner? What was it plastic! Lol surely you would round the sump nut before breaking either of those. Also a socket doesn't have threads haha. Remember this rule, lefty loosie righty tighty and you can't go wrong.
  21. To be honest I'm surprised the motor lasted this long at that power level with the abuse you give it haha, however it was most likely an oiling problem that killed it. Sucks ass either way though, still you sure got your moneys worth from it! You still have stock sump on it yeah?
  22. No it will destroy your engine, also since when does an oil change take an hour!??
  23. But don't you have the 16 bit version, not the 8 bit one?
  24. Most exhaust shops will fab something decent up for ~$200 ish. I got a nice one with bov and catch can plumbings made up for $220 from boostworx.
  25. I put mine in the ash tray and hid the solenoid under the pod, you can't see it unless you put your hands under there.
