Yeah if it is high comp + E85 or something it isn't really a fair comparison. Im sure hypergears existing turbos could do that if used in that application.
-
I am very skeptical tbh, dyno sheet will tell all. How far away is the tune hypergear?
-
Could he have supplied ones with a bigger dome by accident though?
-
Should be fine for a stock 150kw skyline as long as you don't plan to take it drifting every second weekend.
-
Doing an engine swap is financially a much sillier decision than just selling the car and buying a performance car in the first place, buying a performance car is cheaper and... its a performance car, not a commodore.
-
Could he have accidentally sent you larger than 6cc dome pistons?

yeah f**k driving trucks though, would be extremely boring and unsatisfying. -

get an engineering degree and some experience, or become a sparky and work in one, I'm sure you could get there after a couple of years. -
If this turbo makes 280kw with full boost at 3k I will buy one in the near future, providing it holds the power to at least 6k on less than or equal to 20psi. This will be a garret killer if it makes those results! my current highflow makes full boost at ~3k but only makes 240kw on 18psi, so if I can get 40kw over that with the same response, holy shit! What are the main engineering differences with this turbo over previous designs ?
-
If it truly has full boost at 3k I really doubt it'll make over 250kw garret who have far more engineering experience can't even make a turbo that does that, sorry to be negative but I just can't see it being true.

Yeah do not trust the knock sensors, I had audible knocking that was not picked up with them. From talking to pete he is in the mind that due to overwhelming engine noise above ~5k the knock sensors increase the threshold massively and basically ignore knock, hence if peak torque is above 5k then it will probably ignore knock, where as with the stock turbo peak torque (and hence where knock usually occurs) is around 4k
-
Z32 can control the VCT and it has something else that it can control better, I can't remember but pete from nistune was telling me, might have been something with the knock sensors I can't remember. But you can easily control the VCT via an MSD window switch or an eboost street (with built in window switch). There is plenty of discussion on the nistune forums and on here regarding the differences if you do a search though.
-
What are some stand out features of the D-Jetro that make it better than a nistune for tuning? and have you personally used both to determine these differences?
-
Lol no? Just selling the car and buying another one would make more sense, suggesting tipping $10k into a conversion vs selling and buying a car that is $10k more expensive is even more retarded then turboing the V6 hahah

You can still control timing without stuffing around with the cam to make a motor safe, I have no idea why you would do that. The second guy sounds more like he is suggesting retarding the intake cam to increase torque in the lower rev ranges with the expense of top end, that in itself might be a good idea depending on what you want but you can still do that an have the motor unsafe (too much timing, too lean, on the knife edge of detonation, too hot etc) -
Ignore the dyno, of course it will be different, what matters is how does it drive?
-
Yeah it is a piece of piss once you have done it once, only way to learn is to do shit yourself. If you said 'I dont know how' with every problem in life you'd still be sitting in your cot sucking a dummy. Honestly though it is not a hard job, nothing like changing a turbo or an engine, lots of easy to get to bolts and they pop out. Always good to keep a set of stock springs/shocks for occasions like this.

Doesn't mean you should trust him just because he's done more than you. Some people might have never tuned a car but they can know better, it happens more often than you might think. -
Stolen R32 Purple Gtst Seen Heading North About 2Pm Friday

I hope they get caught and the cops shoot them in the stomach and they spend 15 hours dying slowly, what a bunch of c unts -
Yeah once the rings are bed in, change the oil and go for gold, never understood the process of running in a motor. Once you've bedded the rings and got any metal left over from the build out of the oil then what else is going to change? Nothing I hope!

Picked this up for $11.5k after selling my old red coupe for $9k, was a f**king awesome upgrade for only $2.5k Apparently has only 70,000 on the clock, personally I think it is a load of crap. However the paint and interior is mint and the engine is only 2200kms old. Modifications: Previously had a Freshly built forged RB25DET with Arias forged pistons, Arp head studs etc, now has a neo RB25DETGcG highflow turbo Original Hybrid GT spec intercooler (Not a copy) Apexi Super induction POD filter Turbo Timer Magna flow fuel pressure reg full 3 inch turbo back exhaust system with CES dump-pipe and Hi-flow cat, 5' tip. Very quiet, almost as quiet as a stock system. Wolf 3d ECU GTR injectors flowed and tested sitting in an after market fuel rail to suit rb25 Splitfire coilpacks Wallbro 500hp fuel pump Catch can Pager Alarm Aftermarket springs (unknown brand) and possibly stock shocks. Handles surprisingly well and not bouncy. 17x9 and 17x8 avs model 5's recently sprayed in black. New alternator New battery New waterpump Interior Clarion 4x50 watt headunit 6' splits in the front 6' speakers in the rear 2x JL audio subs in custom boot install Was making 240rwkw with the previous motor, hoping for 240-250 with the neo. Full boost around 3000rpm, and it just has so much torque you don't need to rev it, however if you do once it hits 5k it just takes off like a rocket. 1st gear is pretty much useless as it is just smashes the 7.5k limiter before you can change gear. Great fun Here are some pictures of it from when the previous owner had it, looks very similar to this now just with some dished silver rims instead.

Did you ever harass the original assembler with all the evidence from paul's strip down and analysis? Surely that would be enough evidence to get your money back, if not if you could be bothered taking them to court it certainly would be.

200kw on 15psi from a gt3076 I'd say no.
