  3. I thought he was talking about open loop control, but yes if closed loop you obviously need an input as well.
  4. You don't need any physical inputs, you just need the PWM output and use RPM as your input.
  5. If the vipec has PWM control that can be mapped to a rev table l I don't see why you couldn't. Eg revs vs PWM output, just be a simple 1 dimensional table.
  6. You are probably pushing the limits of the stock map and it is richening up and retarding the mixture, take the boost controller off and see if it fixes it, if it does then you need a remap or aftermarket ECU, if it is still broken must be an air leak or something somewhere.
  7. No it doesn't, it can still only be switched on or off.... unless you tried pulsing it on and off to get some degree inbetween, but I wouldn't like the chances of that working properly.
  8. It is for emissions, that is mainly why they vary the exhaust. You can change the VCT set points to whatever you want

I bought a forged rb25 highflow + all supporting mods R32 for $11k 2 years ago, I'm sure you can get something cheaper these days, even if half of it is f**ked it is still worth it, all you need is clutch, fuel pump, ecu, injectors, afm and if the motor cooks itself you are still ahead. f**k doing it yourself, buy someone elses money pit : )
  11. If you can wait and there is a TS housing available, definitely wait, we would all be very curious to see what the difference is, with some fairly cheap welding should be able to get just 1 external wastegate to run it all.
  12. Just save up and order an rb25 block, in the long run you will end up doing it anyway, seriously just get a neo rb25, you will be set for the next 10 years if you tune it properly

  14. Power is directly proportional to torque x rpm. Think of torque as the instantaneous force, rpm is how many times a second that force is being put out, hence why your power can still increase even though torque is decreasing. Another analogy is torque is the force of each cylinder explosion, rpm is how many explosions per second. So if you have lots of explosions but they are weak (low torque, high rpm) or not many explosions but they are very powerful you can have the same power (high torque low rpm).
  15. How much of a gain would you say there would be between a 26 head with VCT vs 25 neo head with VCT ? Pete from nistune told me that if you have nothing else sticking your head in the engine bay with a pair of ear muffs works quite well, up there with the garden hose over an intake bolt! lol.

  17. Basically this, $5k to do it properly sounds about right, there is a bunch of stuff that can still break though. This is also assuming you can do everything yourself, add $1000-1500 if you pay a workshop to do the clutch, turbo, fuel pump, injectors, intercooler + piping. My advice, sell the car and buy one with most of this stuff already done. Also as simon said, 240-300kw costs the same, 300kw will just break more stuff and quicker.

  19. Use an rb20det loom and sensors with a nistuned rb20det ecu. If you use an S1 rb25det intake then everything bolts up sweet. All you need to change then is the coils, cas plug, swap ECU and S1 rb25det TPS. This is assuming rb20det and rb20de loom is the same. Don't use the 34 loom, be a complete flamin mongrel if you do.
