  1. The car is back from getting the roof fixed. Apparently it looks really good. The bonnet, front left guard and front lip have also been repainted as there were some marks in them. I hope to get some more pictures up soon.
  2. Japanese aren't dodgy dudes like us Aussies. I'm sure there are some, but not enough to warrant the reputation they seem to have unfortunately got.
  3. But if his car really is a 1995 as in his thingy on the left, then it had only done ~6,800kms/year before 2003, so 10,000kms in the last 4 is believable. Maybe.
  4. Having a car in/around Tokyo is more pain than gain. No parking + insane traffic + road tolls + really strict DUI = no fun. Take the train
  5. The left one is a friendly reminder from Nissan to remind you to change your timing belt at 100,000kms. The one on the right says that it was changed on 19/4/03 at 55,000kms.
  6. Yea it has been. Even though it was my first time importing, I'm not sure if next time the process will be any quicker. It's a time consuming adventure. This one is a personal import, so it can be road registered.
  7. Ha, poidaはberryberryfunny!!
  8. It is having its roof fixed at the moment. The ribs had to be ordered from Japan and only came on the weekend. It should be back this week, and then it is off for compliance and registration. When it is registered I will be looking to sell it quickly. Thanks for the interest Simon!!
  9. Is "driftas" pronounced like "drifters" or as in "as drift as ......"? If its the later, ドリフトアズ would probably be more appropriate. Makes f*k all difference though, no normal Aussie can read kana anyway.....
  10. You need one of these. Daihatsu Naked. They look worse in the flesh, and they are K.
  11. No worries. No one seems too keen on the translations since Rezz left. By the way, where did he go?? He was such a good contributor, I used to like reading his stuff.......
  12. A twenty g budget would get you into a III or IV evo and still leave you with more than 10g to spend on parts, which would make you one fast man. But yea rwd is the spiritually correct answer for the track, 4wd does feel like cheating. Although like I said before the evos before the 7 are a lot more like a rwd than the recent lot.
  13. The bottom pic: (reading from the top) White wire:AFM Blue:Tacho Green:Speedo Orange:Fuel infection (trying to liven up a boring day) Black:Non power Red:POWER!! The top pic doesn't really say anything. Just to plug the ECU connector cable into the engine computer wiring, which is what you are trying to do. And not to cut the engine computer's wires. And to check everything lots. Sorry about the vagueness, it's a bit hard to know what's going on when you don't have the actual gear in front of you. If your not all sorted, then ask a few more questions/post a few more pics.
  14. Yea evos were built for rally so their gearing is quite high, above about 150 they start running out of steam a bit. Not so sure about them having no hope on the track against a GTSt with basic mods though. If basic mods only extends to engine bolt ons and coilovers, you'd have to ask Schumacher to come out of retirement for the GTSt to have a chance. And as far as understeer goes, evos are the best behaved of any 4WD. The first two series steered more with their back wheels than their front, although from 7 on it's a different story. I'm not claiming that evo = god, I never liked them either until I bought one, but they are pretty fast cars. Their only shortfall compared to 2 and 2.5 litre Nissans as track cars in Australia is availability of parts.
  15. Bus dude, bus. The only way to fly
  16. Just an idea, does it have to be a Nissan? If you don't mind going three star then the evos make decent race rockets. You can pick up versions 1 to 4 for next to nothing in Japan. Parts are a little more scarce in Australia though. Also imported WRXs or if you need it RWD a rotary would make a nice light club car, early versions of both are really cheap here too. WRXs and Evos were made as race cars so even with out modification they can be a lot of fun on the track. 180s, s13s and non GTR 32,33s will take a bit of work.
  17. It's a $30 trip from the airport into Tokyo. If people were planning on heading down to Kyoto/Osaka/Hiroshima way it would be worth it though.
  18. You don't need a rail pass if you are only going to be in Tokyo/Chiba seeing the Autosalon and Disney. Waste of 400odd bux.
  19. shit...... Japanese is a fun language to learn mate, best of luck with it. But yea, the sooner you scrap romaji and learn the kana the better hey. There is some way you can make your computer display and be able to write kana, dunno how to do it though. Mine is Japanese so it came with it あいうえお. Do that and then you can ask your questions in Japanese!!
  20. When replying to questions you almost never repeat the subject, so you can leave the Kyushu resutoran bit off. When using aru the the place the subject is in/at uses ni. Street and dori is a bit of a mute point, as streets here often aren't named and when giving directions no-one ever uses street names, so dori/street would be fine. Therefore Grosvenor street/dori ni arimasu. Would work just fine (me thinks) watashimo Nihongo ga yoku desu ne: Change the yoku bit to jouzu and you will have My Japanese is good, too. (Is that what you wanted to write?)

  22. The roof ribs needed replacing and had to be ordered from Japan, which could take up to 15 days. So it looks like she will be at least another month before she gets on the road. For those interested in the car, I'm sorry about the endless delays. Please bear with me.
  23. It was sent to the panel beaters yesterday to have the roof fixed which should be completed within two weeks. From there it is off to get complied and registered. I know it is taking a long time to get it ready for sale, but for those interested please be patient, the wait is killing me too!

I'm no expert but Japanese doesn't change that much from other languages in that the spoken and written language is different, nobody in any language speaks like a newspaper. Although it is compounded a bit in Japanese because you have distinct polite and formal ways of saying/writing things, but it is not too hard to master. Dunno how I went, the results come out in mid February. If you are trying to learn Japanese, taking the test is a great way of motivating yourself to study, considering it's so expensive and is only held once a year.
