  5. Well I took it out for a quick spin this morning and it boosted to 1.2bar easily again. Although I dont want it at 1.2bar, it should be at 1.1, so maybe that might help if I change it a bit. Also might be the fuel. With BP Ultimate it was fine, put some Optimax in it and thats when it took out the boost. I think I will try some octane booster, and set the boost to 1.1bar. Thanks for your help guys, if anything else occurs, Ill post it here again.
  6. 400hp, yep all highway driving. 550k's on a full tank which i was surprised with. Considering its 240rwkw. Meggala, yeah I will lower the boost for every day driving, but turn it up for the occasional V8 hunt. So do you guys think that if I reset the ECU and turn the boost down a notch (to around 1.05 - 1.1bar) Ill get less overfueling, and then less black crap on the rear bumper? Also, another quick question. Im sure my clutch is stock, but not 100% sure. It feels a bit heavy, and feels like it has lots of travel in it. ie, the clutch engages when its almost right up to its normal position....... or does that mean its almost worn out??
  7. 400hp: youre "not almost certain its ECU controlled"?? Do you mean you are or arent certain.... Do you think an ECU reset and less boost could help solve the prob?
  8. Yeah theres no electronics involved. Although there is an Apexi Multi checker which only monitors the engine, but thats it. A Bleed valve for boost, cam gears and then the bolt-ons I listed. I actually got 550k's to a tank!!! I drove home from Melb to Mildura on a full tank. Although I never revved it over 3000rpm and only gave it a quick flex once. 400hp, you have an R33 GTR right? And the way to reset the ECU is just by unhooking the battery and letting the power drain right? I might try that and lower the boost just a bit.
  9. Guys, if I reset the ECU will it do anything to the power curve it got when it was tuned?
  10. Well i just got back from a quick spin and it all seems fine now?!?!?! I also noticed that the boost spikes to just over 1.2 bar (not good) and then settles down to 1.1bar. So it obviously isnt a boost leak, and must have been the ECU detecting some pinging or the boost was too high. Since the ECU took out boost and timing, will this affect my car now that the boost is back to normal? Will the power curve still be the same?
  11. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I remember last night was pretty cool, and the boost spiked to 1.2bar. So maybe the ECU then brought it back down to .9bar itself?? Yes it still has the stock BOV's, but how do I get to them to check the piping? Do I have to remove the front bar? Jay: yeah mate that would be great if you could find that thread. Then maybe I can get this sorted. Im running the boost with a simple bleed valve. Its just a little pipe that is connected near the boost restrictor that has a hole drilled in it, and a screw to adjust it I spose. Dont know too much about it really. 400hp: how often does it happen to yours? With mine it cant be becoz of heat, because I drove home from melbourne to here (550k's) and it didnt happen then. But last night I remember before it happened I was in 5th and floored it at only around 100k's, so maybe it detected some pinging when it went up to 1.2bar.
  12. Hi guys I really need some help on this. I took the GTR out for a quick spin tonight, and theres something worng with the boost. First up it went right up to 1.2bar of boost and felt pretty strong. But then 5 minutes later it would only do .9bar boost. It sounded like the engine was revving hard, but not as much power. It did have a leaking BOV, which occured before I got it, and was fixed. But maybe its this again? Or a boost leak from somewhere else. After the drive I had a quick look to see if there were any hoses/pipes a bit loose, but nothing. Checked the rear bumper to see if there was lots of black stuff in case it was running rich, but nothing. I know this sounds stupid but can someone tell me where the BOV's are?? I want to check these out. Please give me some suggestions guys. Andrew

  14. Predator: Is there something wrong with the car? Or are you just looking at upgrading. I might buy a S-AFC, but im just weighing up my options and might even just go for a remap of my ECU.

Hi guys, Ive just got an R32 GTR, and it has the following mods: - 3 1/2 inch Exhaust and front pipe (stock dumps) - K & N hi flow panel filter - Adjustable cam gears - Simple bleed valve boost controller to 1.1 bar - Almost new R34 GTR turbos My car made 240rwkw. This is all great, but it is running REALLY RICH!!! Last night I took it out for about 10 mins to show my brother what it can do. I got back and the rear bumper is just covered in black spots. Obviously it needs a tune as the standard ECU is making it really rich. Will resetting the ECU do anything to this richness? As it hasnt been reset since its been in australia. And will this affect any of the cam/ignition settings? I know Power FC is the way to go, but until I can afford that I want to try and keep my bumper a bit cleaner I know something like a S-AFC is a quick fix, but ultimately its not gonna give me much more power I think. thanks.
  16. Hi guys well with the addition of a new member to my family (my R32 GTR) Im after a few basic parts for it. Firstly im after a turbo timer that does all the usual stuff and removes the 180k limiter too. Im not after something really extravagent like some of them are, just a fairly basic one that will keep the engine going, remove the limiter and thats about it I spose. Ive seen the HKS type 1 turbo timer on Perfectrun.com.au for only $250, but do they remove the 180 limiter?? Any suggestions? Im also after a fairly basic alarm/immobiliser for it too. Since I live in a really small country town, car thefts are VERY scarce, but Id rather have one when I leave it parked somewhere. Any suggestions on this and prices?? Im after one preferably under $500. My car still runs fairly rich. Even at idle at it sounds like theres a few tiny misfires and a bit of black stuff comes out when I rev it. It is also really rich up top. I want to get it tuned one day, and I was thinking of a power fc + injectors + pump. But what about just remapping my ECU in the mean time? Will this make a fair difference with the richness? And I also think my oil pressure gauge sender is dead, any suggestions where to get a new one and what type? Thanks in advance.
  17. Hey Matt, yeah I was definitely thinking of that too. I think my car actually hit the Air flow percentage limiter a few times too. It has an Apexi Multi Checker which measures nearly everything and can give an alarm if you go too high in Injector duty cycle/Air flow percentage/ Air/fuel ratio/boost etc etc etc..... It really is a neat thing, but I dont know how accurate it is.

Ill try and get pics asap, but i gotta borrow a friends digital camera 1st. Jay: mate now we have to organise some kind of cruise!! Yeah the ATTESA is bloody unreal. I love it. Just the feel of the fronts pulling, and the rears pushing...... Yeah I heard the R32 GTR ECU can be remapped, but im saving up for power fc, injectors and pump. Shouldnt be long now

  20. Hopefully this week Kamikaze. Hey guys. Ive got a question about my GTR. The oil pressure gauge hardly ever read over 1 or 2, is this normal?? I looked at the oil level which was on the high mark. The car has a remote oil filter which has some VERY long braided hoses for it. It is positioned right at the bottom of the engine bay under the air filter box. So I can get to it from underneath the car. Probly around 1 metre in length. Would this cause the oil pressure to drop at all? The oil temp read only a bit over 70 most of the time. Well anyway the more I sit in it the more I love it. The seats are so comfy, and it just looks really cool in the interior! The clutch is really easy to use, and the gearbox is so smooth too! I just cant believe how good this car is. It is still running a bit rich, coz I can see a few spots of black soot near the exhaust, and when I rev it I can see a bit too. So I reckon with some kind of engine management around 250 - 260rwkw??? Well I hope to get some more pics of it when I have it regod. Andrew
  21. Ill get some pics real soon Kamikaze: yeah mines 7 days too. Nah the R34 turbos are permanent. Man they feel unreal. Spool up really quick and have quite a big kick around 4000rpm. The ATTESSA left me and my girlfriend speechless. It is just amazing, the way you can feel the fronts pulling you along.
  22. Hey guys, well i just got back from Melbourne and drove back my GTR. Man it is unreal, I love it!!! And jesus is it fast. It actually has a fair wack of down low torque too, which surprised me. It has R34 turbos which spool up a bit quicker and gives some more low down grunt. Eg, when I was in 5th and doin about 100, I went to overtake in 5th and just put my foot down. It only took a second for the turbos to spool and I was off :burnout: But my favourite part is 240rwkw + 4WD. Man is that thing deadly from a stop. I havent given it a good launch yet as Ill probly "baby" it for a bit, but if i just take off real slow in 1st doing like 5k's and punch it, I can feel the rears just spinning a tiny bit then the fronts kick in and it just pushes you into the seat. But the thing is I have to wait to get it roadworthy then register it, so I cant drive it much for a while I have a "temporary permit" that says I can only drive it from where I bought it to home and Vicroads. But the overall quality of the car is excellent. Paint is good (a few minor scratches) wheels look horn, interior is clean as, I have an Apexi Multi checker that tell you speed, RPM, injector duty cycle, A/F ratio, air flow percentage and heaps of other stuff. Overall a bloody nice car. So now I cant wait for a few cruises!!
  23. Phantom, ive seen one of the threads there where some bloke says he ran a 12.2 in a WH grange i think and it had a blower and something like 360kw. After he said he ran a 12.2 everyone laughed at him and the thread was closed. And howcome a CSV up here that has 360kw can only get a low 13?? Matt: yeah mate it was a bummer to have to fork out for the R34 turbos, but at least it wasnt as I was driving it home or something like that. And yeah that upgrade kit is a BIT out of my reach
  24. Predator: hahaha thats great the ol' 33 is kicking some Holden/Subie ass. Yeah I think the SS has 225kw and the VY SS has 235kw. But It is the HSV's that claim 250kw. Still fairly slow though. No competition for your GTS-T. The "private tracks" up here are fantastic. Nice and long and some big sweeping bends Phantom SS, even so, Its very hard to get a Holden into the 12's. Like I said, a 360kw Veloce up here cant do 12's! I reckon its the older ones like the Toranas and Monaros that are the proper "race" holdens. Anything new is based around a family car.

Matt (whatsisname), well mate you are exactly correct I just got the bad news on monday that my stock turbos have shit themselves :hellpisd: They were ran at 16psi which evidently must have ended them. Obviously they were on their way out. But I have got some virtually brand new R34 GTR turbos fitted in their absence which "should" be ok for 20psi. But Ill only run them at 16psi again. Im hoping that nothing else in the engine gives up, and that these turbos might extract a few more kw out of it.
