Anyone want to have a Sunday cruise this weekend? I know it is short notice.
-
Wish I didn't have to wait for our stupid business accounts to be done before my tax return. Though last year I had a tax bill. Not happy.
-
Learning new skills everyday though. A friend is teaching me how to do the MP3 thing, so I don't have to change CD's every other song or buy a stacker. Got a very nice Alpine stereo in car, waiting for friend to tune in amp.

Between my slow typing, and cleaning my desk there could be 20 new posts and I would'nt even look.

Paul! I missed you. Hi Niz, Adrian, Ken. Nice to have some company. Don't have to bore you all with my lamenting lost dreams.

Obviously no one is here, so I will go and do some ironing. No, there has got to be something more important. Sleep... reading. Once I was an intellectual, now I'm lucky to read an entire book a year. I'm trying so hard to age graciously, but it is very hard to let go of dreams and accept reality. It is so easy to live in the past, because there at least you can dream with an optimism that is not shattered every time you wake up. Funny how young peoples optimism is entertained by adults, but as we age we gain an insight into societies 'niceties' and we become accustomed to hiding our dreams and desires. Enough philosophy for one night.

Have got a week off work, may learn how to type, though have to try very hard to get a job. A real job I mean. No shift work.

Pimpy Husband had some career ideas. Unfortunately I don't have the "ideal" physique for that. Currently doing business course. When I finish that I will be a qualified paralegal, office person and able to run a small business, and all with no experience! Did I mention that I can't type? I can a bit, but not very fast, which is why I have never actually applied for a job in these areas.

Reality check. Cost of renovating, looking for new house and trying to individualize Skyline just hit. Hard. Must focus on new high paying job. Getting one I mean. I don't want much, $35 000 a year would be adequate.

Evening all. Hope everyone is well. I should be doing something useful, but I am here...

Thanks for your support everyone. Fitting it in? Definately a Sunday, but I can't think of anywhere large enough that is unlikely to be crowded. A little worried about security of our cars and tools and things if we are anywhere too public. People are sure to want to stop and drool if they see a group of Skylines, and if cars are in pieces with tools laying around we may attract some unsavoury characters. How about Sunday Sep 14? That gives everyone 7 weeks to organise their bits. I'll give a few days for comments here, and if most are happy with Sep 14, I'll post in events. We need a location!!! Please help.
-
Thanks for the ideas Cam. I was thinking of maybe in about 6 weeks time- so people can plan anything they need doing and hopefully get bits they need in time. If the workers get beer for everything they do, I hope I'm not 8th in line!! There are always some undercover carparks if need be. Galleria for example. What sort of numbers are you talking about, less than 10? I would hope that we get at least 20 people- it is after all a social gathering as well as the work thing. I am hoping in about 6 weeks the rain will have cleared, but I also hope it is not too cold. Keep ideas and opinions comming.

I want to organise a day (Sunday?) where we can all get together in a large carpark and swap skills or beer if you have no skills applicable to the day. I will post in the events section if we have enough interest and willing skilled participants. Refer to page 2828 of whoretown if you want to get a better idea of what I am talking about. Basically I want to find a large space (carpark with nice park?)where we can all park spread out, be able to do some mechanical work, have a BBQ and a beer or two. Everyone bring tools and skills. For it to work we need the mechanically able people to be willing to do some free work and swap skills. IF we are all there hopefully we can all learn something by watching and PARTICIPATING in the work. I want to have a rough agenda with some definate work happening. I think people are more likely to turn up if there is something of interest to them happening. Please post your interest in participating, if you need something done or if you have skills to offer. Most of you help each other out all of the time, this is just a large scale setting where everyone gets to watch and learn. My friend Alex can do anything electrical (stereos, guages...), so I will try to recruit him. I need my breaks done, so if someone can show me how to do them that is a start. I also have to lower my car again (adjustable Supension). Ideas on location would be appreciated. Near a Marlows or Repco (open Sundays?) would be good. Do you think a token payment to anyone doing the work would be a neccessary enticement? I wouldn't mind paying, I would definately be paying a mechanic otherwise.

Got to go. Will start a thread like you sujested, if we get a good response, will post in events.
-
my son just made the worst cup of tea I have ever tasted. They are so sweet.
-
Some people would have to have some definate work that can be done, and if those details were confirmed before hand I think more would turn up.
-
Do you think most people will go for it? It would be really bad if we organised it and no one who knows anything turned up. If there was only one person doinh the work it would also be unfair, and everyone would be standing around with nothing to do. If it happens we would have to confirm certain people, and have a rough agender.
-
Will have to establish some rules. If it is a nice lakeside location no dumping of oil in lake! Do you think an empty carpark would be more appropriate? We could do it near someones house who could bring a BBQ.
-
I still need to do my breaks, so if it happens someone can show me how to change break pads. Slotted rotors would also be nice. Hope I just said the right thing. Rotors?

I am thinking of finding a location where we can all park in a group with heaps of space, everyone bring their tools and expertise and we just have a day where everyone is together and anyone who needs help with their cars (mechanically, stereo, electrics...) can ask, so we can all hopefully learn something from each other and get some free work done on our cars. If we find a park with BBQ facilities, bring lots of beer, I think it would make a good day out. Of course I am relying a lot on the good will of our more mechanically minded members... I will bring my friend Alex, who does car electrical work. Just want to get an idea of interest before I post anything in events section.

Whatever happened to the good old cruises where heaps turned up and we all had such a great time? I will never forget my first SAU cruise, ME NIZ and LIZ debut. Just can't wait for Summer, dry roads and slightly dangerous driving techniques. I hate driving on wet roads.

afternnoon all. Anyone? Serious lack of action around here lately, or maybe I haven't been around. Should try to organise another social event. Am trying to get some tiime off work soon (stress leave), so If I get a couple of weekends off, I will try to organise a luncheon or cruise or something.

I am with RAC. Just got me renewal, $1200 for cover of $27 000. I am 24, no claim bonus 55%. I had heard rumours RAC were no longer doing imports, but I have been with them for a year. am going to put serial numbers, brands and prices of all stereo equipment and SAFC on my policy too. Have been burned before with previous car when stereo was stolen. They would not cover it as I had not stated it on my insurance policy. Also a good idea to state any valuable accessories, momo knobs and wheels etc. Making sure all my bases are covered, may photograph everything as proof (as well as receipts).

John, why don't you put it on the dyno before you decide? I am just about to install my S-AFC, then I will get it dyno tuned. I will give yoiu before and after results. I still have the stock intercooler, we have similar mods on our cars, so results should be similar. Personally I don't think it is worth spending a lot of money on ecu chips ( is that what they are?).

Well time to go for me. will have a good day tomorrow. Thought for the day: ignore all condescending comments! Good night all, and sweet dreams.
