stamp duty works on a sliding scale depending on the market value (what you buy the car for). The formula is a long n tricky one .... even when i was licensing clerk i didnt even bother attempting it. Best way to find out log into the Department of Planning and Infrastructure website - go into their licensing section and they have a facility there where you enter the market value and it will work it out for ya.
