  1. Hi everyone been awhile since I've been on here, but am in a spot of bother,I need a gearbox rebuilt in Sydney, the company I was going to use is no longer around,so am asking everyone here for recommendations or experiences around western Sydney. Thanks in advance
  2. depends which headstud its around. Was told by an engineer that it was caused by heat fatigue.DON'T quote me on that. Had a block that had the same cracks on the exhaust side (hot) & it will cause oil to get into the water,as the crack will eventually,if not already meet the headstud then the oil that is around the headstud will get into water gallery,& slightly water into oil. And if your wondering why there is oil around the headstud look down the headstud holes in the cylinder head & you will see the oil transfer holes for the exhaust camshaft oiling. If using the block I would highly recommend using headstud sealer on the headstuds that have the oil holes in them, can't remember from memory what they are but pretty sure they are next to cylinder 2 & maybe 5.will check up on that. all the best with it.
  3. sent u Pm.
  4. Got a gtr rear seat here in good condition after $100 for it. Sydney western suburbs Pm or call for pics Interested call Matt 0403775928
  5. Any news of what the problem was?
  6. Been a while!! so what did u find? r u willing to share?
  7. I'm also interested to see what you found. Had the same problem.
  8. So any news as yet? Was the head pressure tested hot? Did you dye penetrant the block deck surface while it (the head) was off?
  9. Not 2 sure on a 25 but a 26 pumps oil past the head studs for the cam bearings.Just look on the head down the headstud holes & there will be 2 holes to let the oil around the headstud. Was it pure oil on the studs u pulled out?
  10. did any of the headstuds show signs of emulsified oil/water on them when head was removed? get some dye penetrant & crack test the deck along the exhaust side of the deck.
  11. Don't know if this helps but might. Got an r32gtr(rb26) that started doing the same thing oil in the coolant but no water in the oil, checked HG ,done a compression test all good, done a leak down test all good, done a cooling system leak down test & seemed ok,replaced oil heat exchanger still the same (oil in coolant),had us absolutely baffled. Then traced the oil circuit in the head & block to see where the oil & water have a close relationship.Going with the assumption that it was a cracked block removed the rocker covers & a headstud just behind the middle headstud on the exh side, when removing found emulsified oil on it. Then pressurised the cooling system to find it filled up slowly with coolant, cleaned the stud hole out & put a camera down there & inspected the thread to find a crack. Also on an rb26 the camshaft oil goes around the headstud to lub the camshaft, theres a hole either side of the headstud approx 20mm down the hole & the oil flows around the headstud to get to the other hole then lub the cam. let me know if this helps or PM me & i can give you my number so we can chat some more about it. Cheers YLD
  12. Hope so it sounds gr8. Also the demo drifts at lunch time the quad rotor of Mad Mike's sounds awesome , till it lunched itself. Some gr8 cars here this year. Cya on the way back for the 4hr drift session, WOOHOO.
  13. Had the same problem with the ABS unit leaking, removed it dismantled ,acquired all the seals, then rebuilt it ,put it back on the car bleed ABS then all brakes, have'nt had a weep since.
  14. Agreed i had a similar problem & had a bloke in his "Backyard Garage" TIG it up,in sydney. This bloke is a craftsman,1 look at his "Backyard Garage" convinced me,man wat a setup ,TIG ,Lathe ,Mill,Horizontal borer, grinders unbelievable.
  15. Yeah he did wofle on quite a bit, like the sound of his own voice.
