  1. Who let the clown in the R34 GTT race?
  2. Hi all!! Im selling a set (4 off) of BRAND NEW AME Tracer TM02 18x10.5"+22 in Dark Metallic Gunmetal. Look AMAZING! These are new, just fitted up to my Evo to see how they fit. Located in Sydney. $1900 Rims only or $2800 for Rims + Hankook 285/35/18 RS3's, Also brand new never used.
  3. Please don't keep it up... Don't attract cops anywhere near me please...
  4. Yeah, I think moving away from twin scroll applications might be their undoing. Sure FP have a great following, and make a few magic turbochargers... but it isn't the 90's or early 2000's anymore. People actually expect good drivability these days with good power. I think they need to put some energy into some TS housings.. otherwise they will continue to loose business to the likes of precision, which are not only cheaper, but have a HUGE range of housings to choose from.
  5. So, Evo companions did a few changes to his car... -Swapped out his Tomei 270 Procams for some GSC R2's -Swapped final drive from 4.0 to 4.11 -Swapped HTA3586R (T4 Divided 1.06 Rear) for a PTE6466 (T4 Divided 1.15 Rear) -Increased boost from 35/36psi to 39/40psi He made almost 40kW more, with similar spool (I am talking within 100rpm - so not really noticeable on the road). Waiting to compare his graphs to see what has changed for power under the curve.. Tempting. Yeah, the non-TS is really annoying me. They are putting a lot of energy into custom SS housings, and giving TS no love... Not liking it. I currently have an FP Black. Its more or less a HTA3582R squeezed into an evo 9 turbo, so it does have limitations, particularly on the exhaust side. I guess I am really worried about being left behind. FP are now making SS cast turbine housings to suit the 'stock frame' turbos such as mine, both to eliminate the TS and the internal gate. This kind of worries me as it means they are no-longer supporting the stock MHI rear housing, and internal gate which kinda defies the whole point of having a stock appearing turbocharger.... I am worried I am going to be stuck with a turbo, that I will struggle to find replacement parts for, PARTICULARLY the rear housing itself. It cops a lot of heat at high boost and can be prone to failure. They are great turbos, but when the manufacture starts to drop support for it... it becomes a less attractive option. I guess that is the main reason for now considering a T4 Divided turbo setup.
  6. GTI needs exhaust, intake and tune for more powerz.
  7. The biggest disappointment I have with the FP turbos, is that they are moving away from twin-scroll / divided turbine's. This includes their stock appearing turbos. My next turbo will unfortunately be a Precision Turbo because of the above reason and the awkward packaging of the Borg Warner EFR's....
  8. So he is able to provide engineering certificates? I am looking for advice for my build and an engineering certificate for all my modifications..
  9. ^ Geoff would know more then me, but I'm sure I have read 20* somewhere.....
  10. Nitto pistons are actually made by JE Pistons. Great bit of kit. They make custom items, so IMO, they are the best bet. If you know the size of your combustion chambers, deck height, and what head gasket you intend on running, you can order these with a custom crown / dish cc, thus giving you a custom and a lot more suitable compression ratio.
  11. Thanks mate. I know and understand he runs that turbo. Been following it for a while. As I stated before, top mount just wouldn't work for me, especially if Im interested in more power (Ie 9180. It still doesn't get around the fact it is a turbo with awkward and inconvenient packaging. I might just have to stick with a Forced Performance turbo, unless there are future options for different compressor / turbine housings... You guys with your RB's are lucky, as you have much more room over us Evo owners...
  12. ^ come on Geoff.. These turbos are an engineers wet dream. But unfortunately, I haven't seen any real world results to show how effective they are. Sure, you have posted results, there are sierra sierra, nemo evo and tilton, but no real world stuff. My car has A/C, its a street car, and it gets f**king hot in Australia so there is no way I'm getting rid of it. (Its not a race car) I have seen some really restrictive downpipe designs to try and make these turbo fit in low-mount config. Which to me, kills off the gains that could be obtained. Not to mention having to notch engine mounts. Pain in the butt to fit. I wonder if forward facing is an option? In that case, What I worry about, is running a small radiator.. Ahhhh, Ill find the perfect setup for me one day... For now, my old FP Black will have to do..
  13. ^ To be honest, I even have troubles with the EWG versions on evos... Low mount the turbo dump pipe is too restrictive IMO, and top mount looks like ass.... (not to mention changes the weight distribution of road/race car).
  14. Yup!! Because I would LOVE to fit a 8374 to my car, but unfortunatly the turbo is too bulky...

  16. If I ever get a FR layout daily driver (Toyota chaser or something like that), I'd LOVE to try one of these turbo. Unfortunately, they aren't packaged well for the east-west engine layout of my evo. For a street RWD, I think the 7670 would be an EPIC combo.
  17. Another juicy photo for you kids playing at home.... 4G63 Nitto 94mm Billet Crank Nitto 153mm Forged Rods Nitto/JE 86mm Forged Pistons GSC CNC Ported MIVEC Head Toxic-Fab Exhaust Manifold with 1.5" Runners
  18. Its been a while so I thought I would post some pictures up... A bit of action is going on!!!
  19. So, I just ordered a rear Cusco 1.5WAY LSD centre for my car today. Got it for a price I couldn't walk away from. This means I ALMOST have my driveline sorted how I want it to be; -Evo 8RS 5sp Gearbox (requires overhaul, gearset shot peened, nitrided, replacement 5th gear / 0.825 ratio, replacement final drive - HKS 4.11) -Front Cusco 1way LSD (requires overhaul and reset) -Rear Cusco 1.5way LSD (requires removal of AYC spider gears in rear diff housing) I have everything either here or ordered, except for the 5th gear. The reason for the change is that the standard box comes with a 0.761 5th gear ratio, which creates too much of an RPM drop. So, a replacement 0.825 should be PERFECT.
  20. Haha, Thanks mate. Its all coming together.. slowly slowly.
  21. So, Yesterday I picked up my EVO 8RS gearbox, ordered a HKS 4.11 final drive + JUN Sump. I also dropped into Bodyform for a looksy.. Yup, with these bad-boys I should be able to run an extra 25-30mm of wheel width. Previously I had 9.5" +35 front wheels with 15mm spacers, which were flush with the stock guards. Now I should be able to run something ALOT more aggressive.
  22. Turbo outlet? Ouch. Need some hard pipes mate. I have also learnt the hard way that silicon pipe joiners should never be used in anything but straight sections. Used on bends like that is just asking for trouble. I used to have VERY similar issues. Now changed to a different piping layout that only uses straight joiners.
  23. Hey All, So a few things have been happening of late with the car so I thought I would take the chance to update you all. CHASSIS A few things have started to happen with the chassis/body. The front end of the car has been started, with front bar and modified fenders. I have also decided to stick with white as a colour, rather then change it. It was all taking too long, and I actually don't mind white. We aren't just going to an ordinary 'solid' white like the old / standard paint was... I am going to pick up my tyres next Wednesday (13th of November). I'm getting myself some Hankook R-S3 in 285/35 R18 as my street rubber. This thing will GRIP like nothing before. With the slightly higher the standard sidewalls, should give be a better street ride as well. DRIVETRAIN Originally I was going to throw my stock 6sp back in as I just couldn't source a proper gearbox solution without spending $10k upwards. I have run into some good fortune recently, and stumbled across a genuine Evo 8RS transmission for reasonable money. These came from factory with really close ratio's, and in factory form they top-out in 5th gear @ 230kph / 7,000rpm (stock redline). The 'RS' series of transmissions had the option for a low gear final drive option of 4.8 which is really meant for dirt / rally as it lowered the top speed to 210kph / 7,000rpm (stock redline). In addition to this, they generally ran upgraded syncros (triple in first / second I believe). So combined with my Cusco 1 way front LSD, there shouldn't be any reason to doubt the reliability of the driveline (well the front end anyway - rear diff is still questionable) This option is perfect for me as it offers good street manners over a dog / sequential, greater strength of the 5sp over my current 6sp, and the ratios are almost spot on. As soon as we get the box, I'm going to get a full overhaul done on it, and purchase a HKS racing 4.11 final drive. This will change things dramatically, and almost suit the power band perfectly as the RPM drop will be spot on. If I was to shift at 7,000rpm for example, the revs will drop in the 5,000 to 5,500 region. Every gear. As the predicted max torque is around 4,500 - 5,000rpm this will be absolutely perfect as it will allow me to use the full power band without slipping out of it. Combine this with a predicted RPM cutoff of 8,500rpm then I will have MILES of power band and wont be shifting around every 5secs. Staying in gear longer will save me time on the racetrack and on the strip. I have done a graph to represent the RPM vs Speed in each gear. The blow graph uses the following constrants - Expected 8,500rpm redline / cutoff, Evo 8RS ratios, HKS Racing 4.11 Final Drive, 285/35/18 tyres. POWERTRAIN As per my previous posts, not a whole lot has changed. All measurements will be taken of the rotating assembly this week / next week. This should give the accurate CC of each piston, and combustion chamber. I am aiming for a CR of at least 10.0:1 as it will give the car some much needed torque downlow, especially with the longer gears. In general, it should provide good driving manners, awesome response, and a little bit of extra power over a 'normal' 8.5 / 9.0 to 1 CR build. Combined with the addition of MIVEC and high lift cams (12mm lift!!!) it should provide a meaty midrange that will work very well with the revised gearing. Next week I will also be picking up a Tomei Exhaust Camgear, Bosch 2000cc injectors and a Kiggly HLA regulator - which is supposed to regulate oil within the head and bleed off excess pressure (beyond 15psi) back to the sump. My old setup utilised a HKS EVC 5 for boost control, but as the boost I will be running is going to be MUCH higher (26psi is gate pressure), I have considered looking at other options, and possibly some sort of ECU controlled boost.
  24. Looking good bro! Why did the cruiser have to double as a recovery vehicle?
