34Geeteetee Daily / Track Project

Nugget! -
I both agree and disagree.. I believe the car DOES make a difference. The same as in the bike world a bike makes a huge difference. The way the governement went about 'banning' all turbos/superchargers was daft. Power to Weight is the only real way to regulate it. And on that basis, form a list of restricted vehicles for everyone to follow. Now dont get me wrong, I'm not emplying that low powered cars (old mirages/lancers/charades) are safter, far from it. I just believe that the regulation of higher powered cars could have been done ALOT smarter. 130kw/Tn means that a stock S15 (what are they, 147kW?) would be legal. That could be cool.

I very much stand corrected. Thank you.
-
^ Actually you might want to double check that... Being a ute, it only has tow capacity of 1,600kg.
-
The holdens have the same tow capacity as thes vehicles you listed. ALL are rated @ 1,600kg. Personally, for my next daily, I will be getting a BMW X5 second hand. 2006/7, leather interior, euro build quality, 6sp auto, 165kw / 500nm Turbo Diesel straight 6 (can flash tune them to 180kw / 600nm). They are currently going for around $35k to $40k with anywhere from 90k to 120k. And being a diesel, it will just keep going and going. Pefect for a comfortable cruiser that can most certainly tow whatever you throw at it. Similar year model Audi Q7's are for similar coin.

R33 Gtr Accident At The Lowdown & Garage 88 Meet

Wow... so many idiots still around. I cant believe these people still turn up to these meets. I stoped going to the JDMST meets a long time ago.. A shame over time it starts to attract idiots, because those meets used to be awesome. -
Same here... Beautiful build!

EXACTLY what was happening too me. Rolling diameter was too large for my wheel alignment. I bet if you tried a 245/35 or a 255/35 that rubbing would go away. -

Maybe you should try something SLIGHTLY wider...?? 245/35/18?? In a nicer compound? Haha, Well, I bring my rims back to maitland in two weeks, so we should try them on your car.. (they arnt sold yet!!) Well with the R34 rims, you didnt want them at the time! Bet your kicking yourself now!!! I actually thought those rims suited the evo too... quite nice. -
The L19's were in there for a while, and we thought, that while we were replacing everything else, It would be safer to use some fresh fasteners. The Custom Aged 625+ fasterners are more corrosion resistant and have SLIGHTLY higher tensile strength over the L19's. Thanks mate. Yeah, it will be worth the wait. It will be an awesome streeter, and I will be keen to hit the drags, circuit, and generally thrash again.... I cant wait to show you the progress bro! Its taken WAAAAAY to long, and it has been ages since we have been out causing trouble. It will happen again. The day I pick it up, I think I'm going to run it in on old pac or putty rd. LOL.

Yes, on my old R34 GT-R rims. I also used to run 255/40/17 SemiSlicks on some old R33 GT-R Rims. They used to rub a little on the rear as well. -

If your understeering, have you tryed looking at alignment? Some more positive castor, a little bit of toe out at front might do the trick... (provided you have sticky rubber!) -

What part of the guard was it hitting? Only reason I say, is a 245/40 has a larger diameter then a 265/35. I had the same issue on my evo, I ran 245/40R18 on it, and everytime I turned it rubbed the front guards. I changed to a 255/35 and it was perfect, even with stock guards. As soon as I went to a 265/35 it started rubbing on the back, so I needed to roll the guards, BUT it didnt rub on the fronts as the diameter wasnt as big.... -
Hey Guys and Gals! Sorry I have been so quiet lately!! Unfortunatly alot and nothing has happened with the build. I was looking to ditching the FP Black in favour of a HTA3586, or GTX3582 or a custom forward facing EFR8374. But circumstances have changed and It looks like Ill be keeping my FP black for a while longer. I just dont have the time nor money to be sorting out a new turbo kit at this stage, as I would much prefer to spend the money on driveline. The FP Black should be good for 400kw+ at all fours, so I think it will be sufficent for now! The engine build has been progressing slowly, with all the parts now with the engine builder, We have decided to ditch the old L19 headstuds, ARP main bolts, and replace all bolts with ARP Custom Aged 625+ Bolts as the engine will be taking alot of boost (34-36psi). By the looks of things, It will be comming together shortly (next 3-4 weeks) which means I should have alot more photos to show. In regards to the car itself, My AME TM02 Tracers in 18*10.5" have arrived, and we are just deciding on the colours of the car. Before any prep work can happen, we have a 6 week wait for the custom fender flares to be made and shipped, from there it will take approx 1-3 weeks to modfiy and prep the body for paint. So at a guess, 9-12 weeks and It should be out of the body shop ready for the engine to be dropped in. In that time, I need to source some new head + tail lights, and organise a retrimmer to make me some custom carpets, trim my dash top, and re-trim my steering wheel. It has been a LONG road so far, but it will be worth it in the end. Cant wait to get some more photos to show you all!!

I agree on that. Remember not a drag car. These time attack cars cop a thrashing. Hell, even Sierra Sierra evo only ran 32psi. I believe the HTA's would have seen more power if pushed harder too. Go to the US and these turbos are pushing 40psi+. Oh, I also belive that the reason for 30psi is running in a new gearbox / suspension setup, and wanted to get used to the setup before turning up the wick. -

Tonba replied to abr33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Im happy to see more results, and more then happy to be wrong. One of the time attack racers that I know just Changed his turbo to an EFR8374... HTA3582 - 450kW @ 35psi EFR8374 - 400kW @ 30psi HTA3586 - 500kW @ 35psi. I dont have any dynographs unfortunatly (these time attack guys dont want to tell anyone about power / etc), but these are results I have got so far. As Far as I know the EFR8374 nailed them both on transient response and matched the HTA3582 for spool. And I also know very well that there is more then a top figure to judge a turbos worth. -

^ Agree scott, but I STILL have not seen an EFR8374 make HTA3586 power. Only a little more then the HTA3582 (so little its not really worth mentioning... 10kW maybe?). Does this mean that Forced Performance make a superior billet wheel?? Perhaps?
