OH, like electrical tape.

To answer the thread. Ofcourse a mod can loose performance. Lots of mods could and do, do this. Cams: change the curve, so at some points, its not going to be as good as without. Turbo, bigger, laggier. Obviously if you do a stupid thing, like, put a massive turbo on a car and leave the exhaust and ecu and cams stock, it won't work very well at all. Or take it to extremes, modify your car by putting a smaller engine in and it may well lose power. So mods aren't always going to equal power, you gotta be a little educated about it. I'd say alot of stock cars are getting around that have good compression and are in a healthy running order which will outway a few kws gained by having an exhaust and a pod.

(r32gtr) No Boost, And Vacume Cleaner Noise.
psybic replied to GTR_NUTZ's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The fact there is a howling noise suggests the turbos are doing SOMETHING, so maybe a leak. When my cat got hungry and started eating exhaust wheels, there was no difference between when the turbos should and should not have been making boost, cause it was just plain NA the whole time. Really gotta check the cooler pipes and stuff for a leak somewhere. Then again, besides the bit where you said makes a noise when should be on boost... everything else says the cat probably does have something in its belly.... Good luck with the new turbos... -
It is a GTR.

Are you a twat? You sound like a twat. It is also missing a GTR rear wing. Guess you are right Albert. Its not a GTR. Never mind the GTR engine, VIN, Body shape, front bar, gearbox, turbos, seats. It is missing the standard centre cluster so I guess its no longer a GTR. No wonder I couldn't sell it. Thanx buddy! What I might do, is buy a couple of those center clusters and put them in VN commodores, then they will magically become GTRs! You are onto something here. This changing what are car is by modifying it thing could really take off...
-
oh so THATS how you change the price in the subject. Should get some more offers now!
-
Just a normal one. I'm pretty sure the gases don't know what you adjusted it with.
-
Did alot of exhaust work on first turbo car as it had issues. Two things, DUMP and Muffler. Both of those were changed by themselves on seperate occasions with no other changes and they make MASSIVE differences to change in sound. If you just want sound, just change the muffler.
-
I'll take that as a you aren't interested. Anyone else with a cash offer?

Neo Rb25's Have Rb26 Rods, What About The Pistons?
psybic replied to maximajim's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah thats tiny LOL  I'd luv to see a big one. Maybe you'd need to source a boeing one to get a decent size. -
The reason for sale is dead set genuine. I live in Wickham, about two blocks down from a rehab place. The amount of below par looking citizens walking past my house is amazing. A nice car on the street is not what I need right now, I need to pay off my debts and wait till I have a garage so I can sleep at night. Only way I'll swap is if I get enough cash adjustment so I KNOW I can sell it with in the next few months and come out with over $17,500 in the bank. So anyone wanting a swap, send pics and accurate details of your rig as well as offer. Already have a reasonably solid swap for an Outback, which should be easy to sell, if nothing good comes along, he's getting it by Wednesday and I'll losing a crap load from what I have spent.

OK, BIG price drop. $17,500 Guy came to look yesterday with Mechanic mate. They don't like the look of the engine too much but have put down an offer. Didn't try ignitor, so I still say it is missing after warms up due to that. Has blow by, which is clearly visible cause I have no catch can yet, well I have it, which comes with car, but isn't installed. Also has leak in back welsh plug. We are going to try and fix that up today. - Blow-by - Ignitor - Welsh plug That in mind. Taking any cash offers. $17,500.

I must be a search spastic. I searched for lpg* and it returned nothing. I think cars and car forums all hate me... anyone selling a horse I can get around on? Just an unmodified number that eats cheap grain would be great.

I am almost positive this question has been raised before, but I couldn't find anything about it with the search. My question is, can you and should you, convert a GTR to gas? Petrol prices are ridiculous!! was trying to sell the skyline because I didn't want to park it on the street near my house, but seems hard to sell these rigs unless they are perfect (which 89 ones aren't). So now I'm thinking, I'd prefer to spend a little money and keep it, have it insured incase some Wickham druggo's decide to take it off my hands and have it on gas, so its happy... I mean, so fuel prices don't destroy me from the hip inwards. So what would be the go with converting to gas?

Thank F#CK its sold. I was loosing so much sleep for the last view days. Fighting the urge to sell everything I own and get a loan and buy that sucker! Amazing looking car, with an awesome setup. What a happy buyer somewhere!

B U M P ps - I don't give a rats how much GTR's that need repair in other states are going for This one is 21K. Offers are welcome, hanging sh1t on my car isn't. No likey, no buyie Hint for punters, anything over 20 will probably be accepted.
-
Yeah, I knew you would say that... it was still a good point.
-
Maybe the two char string 'N1' didn't suit the search criteria of 4 chars...
-
Already been offered $17.5K without the current rims. You can pick it up tomorrow if you can beat that.
-
Motec.... Expensive way to go about fixing boost cut. You really should have an aftermarket ecu but... sheesh... powerFC might do for your mods...
-
You can use RB20 with RB26, but not RB25, I'm pretty sure anyway.

'89 Gtrs - Are There Any That Have Not Blown Up?
psybic replied to Ronin 09's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'd say most kms are not genuine. Unless you get logs and stuff. Mine says 170,000kms. So that probably is, cause you would wind it back further than that. But its not much older looking, (infact the body is really straight) than others with "60,000" written on it. My NA Supra had 90,000, but on the timing belt cover, said it had been replaced 18months ago at 102,000kms... hmmmmm. My GTR. Was as they said, drove really well. That doesn't mean one turbo wasn't screwed tho. Even 1 and a half turbos made it the fastest car I'd ever been in. So yeah, new turbos + Had all the cooling lines flush = $2000. Was too low before, hence damaged exhaust piping, replaced that $600. New front bushes and stuff $600. New windscreen that wasn't mention before, could have happened in transit I guess. $300. Clutch, GearBox and engine haven't thrown any curly ones at me though. Thats on a 170,000kms engine... so I don't think they are too bad. Its not like this one was babied either, it has alot of suspension work, so it would have seen some driving I reckon. -
Please don't get an emulator. You have a GTR man. A REAL twin turbo monster. People who don't have turbos pretend they have stuff.. you don't need to pretend anything. I heard that sound clip of someone that said they had some brotech system, sound disgusting, maybe just recording quality.... And while we are at it, please don't put a bonnet scoop on it either! Or HUB CAPS!!!!!

I think $21K for a GTR is pretty reasonable. No one from Newcastle interested? ps- Had a lot of inquiries, so let me remind potential inquirers of a few things. The car REALLY is at parents house in the shed, its not just a colourful reason for selling. The reason is genuine. This means, if you want to see it, you will have to make your way to Raymond Terrace. www.whereis.com will show you where this is. Contact me and organise a time where one of my parents can be home to open the shed for you.

I'm having same issue. EVERYONE loves to say coils. Not only that, they don't seem to take any other idea as an option, but coils would normally break down when cold, rather than hot. You really do need to check coils as well as ignitor, but my money is on ignitor.... when my ignitor finally arrives in the mail, we'll see. To check coils, check resistance with a multi meter. Pin on Left to Pin in center, should read as little resistance as possible. Around 0.7 From the Pin on the right, to the spring which attaches to top of plug, resistance should be infinite.
