  1. Thanx sooo much for writing back. I was hoping the same thing. Two things that back our theory up #no sh#t loads of smoke #drives really well with no strange noises... just plain doesn't get over zero on boost gauge and feels like this is the case. doesn't reset after turning car off tho... maybe i have to fix power steer first... how would it achieve such a limit? just like a rev limit, but using the air passing thru the AFM to say stop right there buster
  2. ok... a few drinks are down... still very sad. Please help... why the no spool? is it possible? Its like there are no turbos.
  3. 210RWKW on 12psi on stock turbo... did you achieve this some serious timing advance? Sounds like its getting way hot. Yeah, bubbles means exhaust gas getting thru head gasket, should get a chemical test done on the fluid in the radiator, they can tell whether there are any exhaust gases in there or not. NRMA dude can do it.
  4. R32 GTR... HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!! Power stearing GONE. Driving along, heard some funny missing noise, sounded like i was in a WRX for a second, then it was all good again. Pull up, realise there is no power stearing. Remove the shattered belt remains. Keep driving for a bit without power steering, suddenly, no more spool! AT ALL!!!!! Nothing, turbos are NOT spooling! Engine sounds fine, cooler pipes seem in tact. Just got car off defect, now this... You guys go right ahead and write back, I'm going to go cry somewhere... :Bang: F#@KING PIECE OF S#&T NISSAN F#@KING SKY_F#@kING_LINE... I hate it! I hate it!!!!
  5. Thats an awesome price and the car looks hot! Plenty of little extras, I was after something just like this before I got my car. Put the price up, people must not realise how good this car is! Put it for $18,000ono!
  6. Show me an R33 GTR for $29K... PLEASE Or really, because my R32 was 15k does that mean you can show me an R33 for $26K??? Its def at least $15K difference. I know they are older, but its gotta be at least 15K difference realistically.
  7. $20,000 vs $40,000 I think the convincing is right there!
  8. BOV does not control boost. External waste gate has less creep because of above mentioned reasons. Top mount is easier to get at.
  9. Actually even tempe tyres couldn't help me with that. So thanx for that post, I'll be able to order some mags now. Infact tempe tyres couldn't understand what I was asking for as they weren't sure what a Skyline GTR was, they kept asking if it was a GTS-t GTR or a GTT GTR and all sorts of crap, they really had no idea what the car was, let alone rim sizes.
  10. Air Flow Meter. On my GT4, once the AFM came off when the Microtech went in, it sounded amazing. One of the loudest flutters I have heard yet... As for the pod, just get a cheapie, you are only after the noise, so you'll luv it.
  11. The noise as the throttle is shut is from the pressure inside your pipes being greater than that outside and it can't go thru the throttle body anymore, so it goes back through the turbo blades... OR the vacuum lines assists the BOV to open up and vent the gas back into the atmosphere. So if you use a BOV obviously its louder as more air escapes more quickly and you can make it do all sorts of crazy noises BUT... I think you are after the awesome sound of no blow me valve, just the air chopping back through the blades. The answer to this is, POD filter, you will hear it better, also get rid of AFM's to hear it even better... although that requires the use of after market ECU, which would be an interesting thing to purchase just to hear the chopping air noise... So ignore all above crap... get pod filter. don't get BOV
  12. Thanx for that guys, I certainly will post up my results. Might go pop it on a dyno first to let you know how much power it has (doesn't feel like much at the moment).
  13. I know you don't wanna hear about GTR's, but really, if you are going to compare stock, as is fair... the stock GTR's go under 13s 1/4 and you saying the fastest HSV is 0.6 seconds slower... thats alot of distance when you are going that fast. From the lights however, its going to come down to traction and lag. We win on traction, you win with less lag(in a big way). at the end of the day... you DEFINATLY win on sound!!! and thats what the crowd wants. :jump:
  14. Thanx for that man. I think I better get down for a few runs before hand. How hard is it to adjust the suspension? do u just take the wheel off then screw something? I haven't played with it yet. Should I also drop the tire pressure? If so, to what?
  15. Powercruise in August is coming up and I'm really keen to get down there and have a crack on the drag strip, BUT... I know nothing about what to do and stuff. Is it scary knowing what to do and stuff? Do you just rock um and line up, then wait for the green, then go, then what? Its all so scary. The other thing is setup, I have adjustable suspension, should I have it low all around with lots of movement so it can rock back (Its jacked up like a monster truck at the moment until the Defect is cleared) I need some advice, I really wanna get some good times, in a stock R32 GTR
  16. Yeah, the XR6T is a monster. My point was more about the original question of which car to get. I feel that the Australian cars don't do as much with their engines as they could. eg. SR20DET makes about 180kw+ in the S15. twice the capacity you might hope for somewhere around twice the power in the XR6T, but only gets another 80kw's. Its more, just not as much more as I think it could be if Ford tried harder... I guess they didn't want it to over power the XR8...
  17. My point was the figures were low... similar aged vehicles and the Jap car held higher numbers than the good old tough Ozzie V8. I certanly wasn't suggesting a VS is new or some sort of bench mark. Ofcourse I'm not saying XR6T's aren't awesome, I reckon they are the best Australian car ever. Jap cars still seem to do more with the engine size for fuel economy and price IMO. We'll see what happens at Powercruise. The GTR will be there, stock as a rock. We'll see what the 14 years newer, more powerful, more expensive stock XR's can do. :aroused:
  18. I suspected it was something like this. Did you say blow off valve(s).. are there two? If yes, why is there one pipe that then feeds into both turbos. So I could really do away with this pipework then? I really want to clean up the pipework around that area, its very messy!
  19. So what are those pipes running to? Someone must know what they are for...
  20. Fair enuff... Does anyone know what the XR6T's do come up with tho? I wonder if they would be over 200kws... I just doubt alot of Ozzie power figures... Have seen results for a VS V8 which should have 168kw at fly come up with under 130 at wheels after exhaust work. And wouldn't be surprised if the big power battle holden and ford have been having latley see their power figures a little optimistic... especially the way they actually drive on the road... they aren't as quick as you would expect...
  21. Nice work on the decision... Just a point I would like to make. I am sooo sick of people looking at the specs of Jap cars and going, hmmm only 206kws.... You know they have a documentation limit of 280ps over there right? Ofcourse everyone does. Thats why GTR's have 208kw* twin turbo supras 208kw* 300zx 208kw*. we all know this power figure is wrong, so why use it in a comparison? I don't know for sure, but I reckon you would find the R34 GTT would not be as far behind a XR6T on a dyno as the figures mentioned would suggest.
  22. Was having a look at the intake pipework today as I wanted to look at the turbo shafts for shaft play, as I'm sure I'm down on power... I noticed from the pods back to the inlet of the turbo, on each turbo there is another air hose joining in. Looks like when the air box was there it would have gone into the air box. Coming from next to the intercooler pipe. Where does that pick up from and what is it? I'm really keen to get the whole intake pipework alot more simple.
  23. I doubt anyone got one as cheap mine... which was $14,700 landed. Even then, its $17,000 on the road, and when you add other stuff, its going to add up to $20k, I don't think you should ever think of getting a GTR for a $20K budget... just my opinion, which I think is valid after scoring the cheapest GTR I have ever seen for $14,700 landed of Prestige and nothing was really wrong with it... there will always be little things though... $25k would be a better budget (if you import yourself )
  24. And more defense to us 89 GTR boyz... are we expected to follow the Mum attitude that a car should only be measured by how old it is... should I therefore be driving a 2004 lancer? Looks/Performance/Ride/Resell are all in my favour in the GTR. I think they are tops.
  25. I think its more than 1% dude... alot of us so far are in it. I'd prefer an R32 GTR than any other car for under $30K and indeed than most cars on the road.
