  1. Ignitor wiring on my GT4 was dodgy when I had it, and it would sometimes turn off... well not sometimes, I found the problem straight away and fixed it. For things to happen suddenly, you gotta be thinking ignition...
  2. I have a REALLY cheap 89 GTR, in IMMACULATE cond... wait wait, no, in TERRIBLE condition! I still think its a good way to go though. I had it on the road with 12months rego for $17,000. $1000 will go into exhaust and springs(got defected). $1,500 into rims. so for under $20,000 the car is in pretty good shape and looking pretty good. If you can be bothered putting some effort into these cars, they are a good buy. Put a few more K's into the body work and other minor issues and I will have a good reliable car with plenty of power and handling. I think its an excellent under $25k option, you get a great looking and great performing ride... you just have to understand that you need to pick it up for about $6k less than what you want to spend.
  3. I love the mad max home mad super sonic go cart dash look!!!! The more info the better! Mine will look something like that eventually, except a little less styled and no reduntant gauges... and when people say, errrr thats sh#t, I'll say, race me b$tch!
  4. Don't think its a fault... cause I have taken some corners pretty hard at higher than 80kms and feel firm all the way through... Sisters are both taken... soz
  5. Ok, my source for all car info, who always seems to be right... said GearBOX.... oh no! So does that sound right to some GTR owners who have had gearboxes die in the past? A yukkie howling noise? If that is the case, I am looking into some PAR straight cut gears as replacement, say they are good up to 750hp, which I will never have. Any recommendations for where to go and what to get for gearbox work?
  6. So you think it would be some sort of bearing? not syncro type stuff at all? It just concerns me that it makes it sometimes when I am actually shifting the stick with foot flat on clutch... then again http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/au/st...sp?StockID=2977 I guess its probably all of the above with this car hey...
  7. Thrust bearing went on my supra. Was told that its got nothing to do with driving hard, its just a bearing, sometimes they go, but its just a noise so don't worry a great deal... Also, I was told when the thrust bearing goes, putting your foot on the clutch shuts up that noise all together, because there is pressure on the bearing so its stops making the noise, which is exactly how the supra acted and the opposite to how this is acting. The difference is, when that happened, the noise was always there, this has stopped again this morning... I would be happy to know it is just the thrust bearing though, cause then it would be a $20 - $30 fix + a few hours on the weekend... I'm just a little concerned it has something to do with some other drivetrain components, when my mate had a listen the other night, he said it seemed to be coming from further back... he may have been mistaken though, doesn't know much about cars, he thinks skylines are lines in the sky....
  8. Hey thanx for the speedy reply I was fearing it may have been the case... although there doesn't seem to be any slip. Also from other cars I have burnt the clutch out in, they don't make such a crazy spinning noise, they simply rev alot and go no where... Is there something in this? or do GTR's act differently in this way? Say it is the clutch? where and how much for new one?
  9. Just got my GTR a few days ago. Been going really well for a few hundred kms. Tonight, while in some traffic so I was on the clutch alot, I heard this disgusting winding/screeching noise as I came of the clutch to accelerate. I noticed this a fair few more times. Also as I was slowing into corners and shifting down, with clutch right in, just shifting was making the drive train engage such noises... Could it have something to do with the clutch? or the gearbox? I'm very nervous at this point.... HELP
  10. When I put a new dump pipe on my GT4 I got MASSIVE power gains and sounded heaps better... then again, the standard one on them with the yukkie cat was disgusting. I'm about to get new piping on the GTR, will be interesting to see how that goes, even more power would be awesome :headspin:
  11. "just quickly, are you smoking glue by any chance? i've never heard another owner of a 32 gtr refer to their car as shitty.. maybe you need to look into some kind of drug rehab or something. but good luck with that " Not smoking glue. Two points: a) I don't talk my car up when there is no need. It has some shitty paint work and a hole in the exhaust, I consider that shitty. You might accept a f#&k off hole in your exhaust as cool, but I have some sort of standards with such things. B) I did say I was happy with my car, but whether I am happy or unhappy with it, doesn't really make me a crack head does it? I was just saying this guys car looks nicer than mine and is probably in better mechanical condition. Thanx for your positive feedback... :bs!:
  12. I like more Skylines with GTR kits, makes people think my GTR is just a ricer car, then KABOOM, smash em hehe I only got my skyline three days ago. I was looking to get a nice R33 like yours, but got a shitty R32 GTR instead, for $17,000. I'm happier with the performance than the low kms and nice looks that yours has over mine, depends what you after I guess. Nice looks indeed , good buy.
  13. Hi I'm really new, only got my R32 GTR two days ago, but have been looking into S-AFC's for a while and used to have a Microtech LT8 on a GT4. One question I have about an interceptor ECU argument is... Wouldn't an 89 model ECU have a lessor processor than a 2005 ECU? I have never really looked at the specs on such things, but surely with home PC's having 100x processing power of 15year old ones, it would be similar to car ECU's and wouldn't the speed that the ECU reacts to events aid in better engine management? To further this how much processing is done in the intercepting ECU before the output to the standard ECU for processing? No one seems to talk about this, is that because this isn't an issue to worry about at all? ps - S-AFC still looks cheaper and sexier, I still want one, hehe
