  1. I guess when you are spending so much money there are sooo many options. Alot of people are talking only about performance. I just sold a 210hp 1200kg car for $6,500 and bought a slow arse r33 skyline for $13,000. Its not all about power. Some of us don't RACE everywhere. Some people ( not me ) kinda need to look impressive as part of their image to help their careers. You aren't going to listen to a consultant who just rocked up in an S12 gazelle who promptly ripped a burnout through the first 3 gears on exit of meeting... well... i would... but yeh...
  2. To add to that... poor tunes add to lighting up rears. I lit up the rears before I had the microtech in the S12 by accident all the time... its a rather light car, with very hard suspension and lots of neg camber, so likes to slide. Used to have a big flat spot due to running rich with stock ecu, this meant it would feel dead then take off like crazy once over 5000rpms... it just felt fast, but really had less power and was less useful. I think accidental loss of traction is a BAD way of determining power.
  3. Its all about a good tune. Get the power happening as soon as you can! 16psi is alot for only 180rwkws
  4. Well I bought a black 96 Series2 in stock condition for $13k a few months ago. So no, if you have cash, you are in a good position to get a bargain in this current market. You can do alot better!
  5. Remember when you tell your ECU its at a different part of the fuel map, its also going to think its at a different part of the ignition map, so you'll be grabbing a little more advance than before. More advance as you get less fuel... just gotta be real careful not to go for too much to quick. I'm probably going to get an SAFC even tho i'm one to say initially NO go. But if you grab one at under 300 second hand, its worth it just as a fuel saver and a little smoother driving... i don't intend to make my car a street racer. When i get keen for any performance at all, or even more boost, i will want ignition timing control also, so full ecu. I see it as either the cheap option ( like only using FPR's and base timing ) , or the "my car is all but stock, just giving it a little tidy up" option.
  6. Tell ya something funny... I'm probably the ONLY person to have actually done this!!!! Cooler pipe kept coming off on my way from Newcastle to QLD. After a while, i went, meh, and left it off. This was possible due to an aftermarket ecu with a map sensor. So the turbo sure did spool... and blew air onto the side of the intercooler somewhere, but not threw it. It was an NA-T so the hi comp meant it was the same as driving a normal SR20. To answer the question tho, this isn't something I would have done on purpose. Its just stupid. Going on a flat road, you won't go above 0psi unless you accelerate. Oh, for those who are wondering, fuel consumption wasn't bad. Only road trip the car has been on, so can't compare to with boost, but it was just over 10L per 100kms.
  7. If it can be complied.... Owners number? So you are not only not the owner, but you can't even explain what is required to purchase the car? How about you just state what the issue was with compliance. Yes looks cheap, but I'm sick of looking into bargain priced cars and wasting time to find out there is something dodgey that could have been posted up in the first place to save our time. So how can a car become un-complied? It either has: Import approval Been Engineered ( with necessary mods for compliance ) Been complied ( under either rule, SEVS or 15yr, depending when it came in under which approval ) Has had blue slip to verify engine number, engineers cert and VIN all match. -- OR -- It hasn't. To make things easy for you at least. I'll make a CLEAR offer. $7000 - with 12 months NSW rego and engine compression tests fine, no oil leaks or other mechanical problems.
  8. how can the car need to be re-registered and complied?? if it was registered ever, it would have been complied, if it were complied, it doesn't need it again. as above, is this manual? *ooops i see it is manual* quite keen if it just needs rego and isn't broken!! if its manual and it only needs to be re-registered, i may be interested. very cheap tho, any catch? such as problems?
  9. I doubt they are. RB20 packs are meant to be same as RB26, but not RB25. I haven't lined them up, but thinking about what my RB26 ones looked like compared to what my RB25 ones look like, they don't look much different...
  10. Beer Bottle Caps as Bungs FTW! Used two for a long time, no dramas. Also if you are smart, you put the question facing outward, then you have a little bit of trivia to keep you company each time you open the bonnet. No, not kidding. Have pics of setup.
  11. Just incase you are serious about selling quickly, I'll offer $250 for safc COD.
  12. I have an idea how he might know that.... not the smartest idea if you are having problem with handling at less speeds... Speed cut isn't set at exactly 180km in all ECU's... I don't know about skylines, but when exploring remaps of ECU, I was forwarded the 300zx data, speed limit was 188... slight variation in wheels or speedo calibration could easily see a few kms either way. I love the old, throw it on a dyno for a tune... still not sure how you expect the "tuner" to alter data in the ecu if its stock, which it probably is otherwise you would probably know about it.
  13. Was about to comment on how good that photo was, then noticed the water mark... bike is hot!! Fuel Injected is the bomb!
  14. Well, you've already heard my offer, lol. Still stands, $2,500 + my black R33 S2.
  15. You smell Holbrook! No seriously, shower more often man. Others... you have no idea. I have owned a white car, a blue car, a nother blue car, a dark gun metal gtr, a lighter gun metal supra, another white car, and... a black car, don't bother arguing... black is worst. Just had a dent removed from the door, the detailer dude even agreed, black cars need to be treated right. They look so hot when clean and shiney, but I'm not the show car type, so I want a white one. Holbrook knows what I'm talking about, think of that GTR you made on that xbox game... you know with the black bonnet... HOT! I want that... except not R32 GTR. Maybe interested in silver, post pics!!!! I am prepared to offer some cash if it has some tastful mods!
  16. I bought a 15k GTR once... didn't last long. I wouldn't touch one without a compression test, leak down test and rebuilt turbos if not aftermarket ones. CV boots and other undercar pieces are aging and need replacing, as well as bushes and what not all around the car.
  17. 1996 S2 GTST 5spd - 92,000kms Aug07 Rego Black - Stock except: Cat back exhaust Pod Dual Stage Boost control - not hooked up. Only bought it in Aug. I like white ones better. Looking to trade for a white one. Prefer full body kit, full exhaust, front mount and rims ( not chrome! ). So will throw more cash depending whats on it. 15,000ono if someone has cash, but mostly just thinking this could be the best way to get a white one, cause I reckon they look better. Comp tested this car when I got it, no dramas at all, very reliable and comfortable... but its black and I hate having to wash it all the time. yeah its a bit dirty in the pics... I might clean it and take some more... stupid black.
  18. Its threads like these that make me just a little glad I have wasted so much on cars over the years. Its kinda fun to rattle off this list... ready. Honda Accord Toyota Celica - then modified wih GT4 engine, still FWD Toyota Supra (non turbo) R32 GTR Charade 3cyl non turbo S12 Gazelle ( 158rwkw SR20 ) R33 GTST S2 NOW... you'll note I build up to the GTR then quickly backward. Its simple, if you don't listen to the advice that they can cost you big $$$, then you'll end up like me, back in a charade before you know it. If you get a $15k import like I did, you'll be proud as punch for 3weeks while you smash everything else in a straight line and around corners if you have balls to push it... then suddenly, you'll break something, cause they are old and have been driven. The ultimate drive, even a 16yo thrashed out one was the best car I have ever driven and felt amazing to drive. Make sure you get one taken care of though even then, you'll need a solid budget JUST IN CASE!
  19. There are some cheap ones on ebay, I wonder how they would go... surely the straight pipe that bolts in (ie, no cat) would only do good things. They are about $80 on ebay. If you are running a stock one at the moment, its probably very old and blocked, so you'd notice the difference removing it.
  20. Ahhh ya cheeky bugger, knew it was too good to be true. Still good buy with nice rims and good turbo's.
  21. I remember my 3SGTE was so shit, in stock form, it just got worse and worse, till finally, I wondered if it would even make it the short drive to the workshop where I was having an aftermarket ECU installed. I never thought about it much again because the car was alive and double the power of ever before after the tune. I was half expecting to be told the engine was dead. I am amazed how many people have problems related to running rich, as I did and don't just get an aftermarket ecu of some sort. SAFC if you have a low budget. One thing leads to another when you run rich, you'll use more fuel, you'll block up your cat, etc. Just get an safc and a tune, if not one better and get a full aftermarket ecu, make sure you have NO boost leaks. get rid of you bleed valve if you have it shut.
  22. I don't see single as being unreliable. I don't see it as that expensive. Its a simpler concept than two turbos. OFCOURSE you'd have a re-tune. I am not happy running stock ecu with a catback exhaust and a pod. After market ecu's when tuned properly make the car a whole new driving package. I just like the idea of one turbo instead of two. Easier to see whats going on and understand the process of air movement at a glance. Easier to change the one turbo when it blows. Less amounts of pipes running around. Easier to upgrade when you want. I dunno about everyone else, but having been defected in a few cars and pulled over alot ( cause cops around here are ruthless ) cops rarely know how many, if any, turbos should be on your car. They look for BOV's and pod filters as they are easy to spot.
  23. hahaha, focus boys focus! we are talking about something that will be good on the street/track. yeah external is tough, but you didn't budget for externals in the twin setup.
