kaige replied to kaige's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
thanks for that! ill give it a go. -
Try'd to start my engine for first time after being built last night but had no luck... Ive got fuel and spark, so everything is pointing to the pfc. How can i reset to factory settings seeing as i dont have a stock R33 ecu to use?

GT Auto Garage in Newmarket and Option 1 Garage in Hamilton are the only two workshops I would ever touch. Ive been to a fair few workshops in Brissie and these are my pick for imports. They both have alot of time for their customers, wont steer you in the wrong direction and have great advice. I have heard good things about East Coast Customs but havent been there.

Also selling with it a Neo turbo in perfect condition from a r34 skyline. Its exhuast housing has been flared out and ported. Its got bugger all shaft play and all fins on exhuast and inlet sides are perfect. Asking $400 for the turbo. Located in Brissie Mobile: 0413715944

Ive had abit of a play and persisted with it but i managed to get good tension with only a pifteenth of advance on the cam wheels... The engine is on a stand so im looking at it directly front on. I just spoke to my tuner/mechanic and he said serlong as its a fraction advanced and not retarted it should be fine. I'm happy with where the belt is sitting now after talking to him and dont think i need an adjustable cam gear at this stage see how it go's once its running!

Hey guys Ive bought the belt T306 and it fits fine with the second tensioner in the standard position and leaves safe amount of room between the gap. Although i cant line up both cams in their exact position where marked on the backing plate while having the crank at TDC. One of the cam gears has to sit 3/4 of a tooth advanced/retarded. Or you could just have them both out a little bit. Looks like you have to have at least one adjustable cam gear to use this belt to have perfect timming alignment on the engine. Anyone else have the same issue when fitting this belt? Oh, and because its an audi belt repco try'd to sting me $190 big ones... still $115 at trade price is prety deer!

I sent an e-mail to twinvl who made this site: http://www.users.bigpond.com/allanreynolds...enewtwinvl.html He's now using the same belt p/n T306 due to the gates not fitting properly so should be all fine!

ill just buy one on tuesday, ill let you's know how it fits!
-
dude your a ledgend! just rang repco picking it up on tuesday. Hope the pitch in the teeth are the same and it sits on the cam/crank gears nice Have to use two tensioners either way you go about fitting the belt, there is plenty of room using the stock position there is just no way the timming belt could foul. Although the two inner sides of the belt are close, the belt is at its tightest point with least movement.
-
yeah thanks for that, would make it easier!
-
ill let you's know if i have any luck finding a belt in next weeks as buisnesess open up after the break.

Ive spoken to john, he cant get a timing belt to suit stock position either... its looking like im going to have to drill a hole
-
guys i need some help with find a bloody timming belt, ive try'd just about every place in australia. Ive put my second tensioner in stock position, motor is together so i dont want to drill and tap holes. All i need is a timming belt: 1200 long, 150 Teeth with a 8 mm pitch 25 mm wide to fit on the rb cam / crank gear. Sound symple? well its not! The gates powergrip 1200 8mgt belt is an industrial belt and does not fit on the cam and crank gears. All automotive belts have a tooth number but no length and no pitch information... so how the F$@* do you find a belt? P.S Both the bosch and Dayco belts on the SAU PDF are 152 tooth for use with relocated tensioner

Hey guys about this timming belt issue, Ive been trying to chase up a " gates powergrip gt2/gt3 1200 8MGT 30 " To suit the 25/30 I try'd heaps of places and only one that came through was CBC bearings. I orderd the belt, had it cut down to 25 mm wide, took it home and the pitch in the teeth was for INDUSTRIAL applications. Although the part numbers are exactly the same " 1200 8MGT 30 " on the belt. Industrial teeth are more round on the edges but thats the only differance. Has anyone ever found this belt somwere to suit an automotive style pitch?
