  1. drill slow and with lots of grease to catch the filings...and same with tapping the hole. or if the head isnt on yet...get a vacuum cleaner sucking from the water gallery that your going to drill into and hopefully pick up all the filings.

Yeah i see what you are saying, but if this method works and is safe i still cant see why not to do it this way...

Timing belts move bugger all as it is but i thought with two tensioners it would be ok.

has anyone heard of the belts clashing before?

Just dont want to do drill and tap holes into a perfactly good motor.

  2. Hey guys, I'm just about to bolt my rb30 / 25 together and the only thing left for me to buy is the timming belt.

I've decided to use the existing hole in the rb30e block and add a second tensioner because the block im using is all in one peice and i dont want to go drilling anything.

Just want to check before I go down this road if anyone has had any problems taking this option and if the size of the timing belt this guy recomends fits ok.

    Timing belt details are - Gates POWERGRIP GT2 p/n 1200 8MGT 30

it measures 1200mm long, 8mm pitch on teeth, 150 teeth, and 25mm wide but it was cut down from 30mm in the factory! Cost $80 as it's a heavier belt.

Any comments or help would be really helpfull!

  3. I just dropped my head off to get all tested cleaned up and the reconditioner claims $170 odd just for the valve stem seals!!!

Is this correct? or am i getting ripped blind?

last time i did a head on an rb30e the complete vrs kit was $180!

was goping to buy exhuast inlet sepperatly off this site and get engineer to suplly cam seal and valve stem seals, thought it would be cheaper see'ing as no VRS kit comes with cometic head gaskit.

  4. Hey guys I'm building up a rb30det, I'm ready to start bolting it together just need a head gasket and an oil pump.

What head gasket do you guys recomend, How much and where can i get it? I was looking at a Cometic 1.2 mm metal on this site on a traders forum but now i cant find it again

And whats the diferance between the GTR and GTR N1 oil pumps? Is it worth spending a little extra on the N1 pump and why? Also where can i buy one i been told $410 from this site?

  6. Hey guys, Sunday night i left my R31 coupe outside the girls place at clayfield. come down to goto work and eveything was a mess, seats down and ash tray open. They took over 1500 with of all my tools for work, amp, speakers, sunnies ect...

Just want to remind everyone after it having happend to me and being told by the cops how often this does happen in brisbane to not leave any stuff in the car overnight. If they dont get caught in the act there's bugger all chance they will be caught.

Has anyone else had any problems with theft recently?

    Cheers, Kev

  7. Hey guys hope somone can help me with my flat spot problem...

Have a red top rb20 and just put r33 turbo, elec boost control running 11 psi

It was fluttering and missing up top from 5 - 7k rpm after i ran more boost so i changed the plugs. Told the gaps are too big for the boost.

put some NGK R iridium number 7 plugs in and car is heaps smoother and responsive but flat spots in power from 4500 to 6000 rpms.

After 6000 it pulls real nice and smooth to 7000 rpm

Never had any probs on stock setup

    any help would be great

  8. just wondering if anyone has been to GT auto at newmarket before... there service and quotes have been great so fare but want to hear from somone who has spent some money there.

  9. Car will not start. and the the battery go's flat is whats happening

interior lights still work, alarm and everything is running. and no its not the alarm!

Thanks for that translation mate and acording to that it's the Electrics Fuse.

odviously then its somthing to do with the elecrics of the car... so this eliminates anything else with a fuse and whats left?

And after inspecting the rear strut tower brace, the nut has been cross threaded and used before... so previous owner has odviously had battery out before afew times as well.

maybe i should give supercheap's head office a call and hassle bob, see if he knew what the problem was.
