Just had a quick look at some prologue results...for what they are worth.....have a bit of an interest in classic.... Broadbent getting his old RS porkchop around in the same time as Richards GT2RS. That thing of Broadbents must go ok.... 5th outright on the prologue.... Also something about Hendy stopping on Kayena. Was hanging my hat on him for EM victory.... Be gutted if he cops a snot time so early in the piece. -

He runs the full MoTeC (M1??) ECU too I think that ignores all the warnings and safety measures the factory computer has that would normally save components of the car as illustrated in the power skid -

I guess this type of driveshaft failure is normal on 35 GTRs? I guess he is glad it happened at the media day and not day 1 of competition. -

I think thats the game Bris. Make it look period from the outside at a glance, and shove as much go fast stuff under the skin as you can. -

Well fellas, not sure if you are interested as it has the wrong badge on it, but am finally making some progress with the chook cooker. Some pics below if interested. Basically have finished the engineering of the equal length 4 link rear with coilover conversion. Now its off to get caged. -

^^^^ There ya go Anthony. One of the GTST gurus I had in mind. I am sure if ask any of your questions here the guys that have actually built and raced GTST's will have some great info for you. My personal view on brakes is get the best you can afford. I tend to sway towards bigger brakes as my view is they give you better feel and a better ability to modulate on the threshold of locking up. Added benefit is the resistance to fade and more stopping power, Some of the intense targa stages can really give your brakes a workout so they need to be decent. Have been down the path of upgrading standard brakes with braided lines, ducting, trick rotors and pads etc, but still got a better result out of ditching it all and putting 6 pot alcons on. No doubt there are upgrades like bolting later model brembos on to the earlier stuff that would be a good budget upgrade. I sadly am not a nissan guy (would love a 34GTR but cant afford to race one) and am an imposter here, so take everything I say with a pinch of salt. edit.... oh and re suspension, this is one area I learnt the hard way in that you can never spend enough on the right coilovers. Once you have had a taste of tarmac rally and see how hard your suspension works over the less than perfect roads, you can see why the fast guys spend big on the suspenders. Makes a big difference to feeling comfortable at high speed over the bumps, which will naturally lead to you being more comfortable to push harder. Again i am sure the guys here will be able to lay out the variously priced options. At the end of the day we are all on budgets. You just try to build the best toy you can with the money you have. -

Hey Anthony, best bet is to get in touch with the Targa tech people. Previously it was Stuart Benson however as per posts above he is now running the show I would imagine there are details on the website. Re the rules, i think you have to consider what it is being entered as. If you are entering it as a R32 GTST, then your assumptions on modifications need to be based around that car and not the 32 GTR. so on the wheels you are spot on. +2" in each direction over standard. (18x8.5 based on your info provided) Re the front bar, I woudl expect it has to be GTST parts not GTR. But there are some far more experienced datsun campaigners on here that can shine more light on it for you.......that exact car in fact. -

Commiserations on the early mishap. Sucks to be out of the picture so early on from a minor gremlin. Pisser on the race within the race. That incar you posted up was mental!! Had me on the edge of my seat. You weren't half having a crack. And the response after the little moment was priceless. Watching that was a bit like when you are track side and you see cars whipping around and think "there is no way i am going to go out and go that fast. Thats crazy!! " But sure enough you go out and set similar times so you must be. From the outside looking in, its madness, but from the inside it feels just right. Really got me fired up to get back out there. You just cant beat it. Good news on the school mate. Bit of brain food and self improvement can never hurt.....and glad to hear you haven't hung up the gloves/boots. -

Ditto here. Top work Capn. Your comment on the highlights really resonated. Heaps of homework done jointly on other platforms but you are on your own with the TTRS. Team Close doing a tops job. I think the GTR guys are waiting on the Electronic Talent 5.1 update to be released to bridge the gap back to your car. edit.... PS: Woo, so you are saying people are now just generally sharing their rally info and experiences on bookface now rather than hit forums or is there a particular tarmac rally discussion area. Bit sad really. Some good info and minds in this thread. -

Bahahaha. Feeling the love. Too far gone with the chook cooker to back out now. Got IRS envy after seeing that though... not excited about live rear axle. Will be nice to be in something different though.....even if it means all I get is a really good vantage point on the side of the road early in the event. But if I had a clean slate, prob wouldnt be a bad starting point.....at a slightly lesser price of course given what you can buy a fully finished tarmac car for these days.... As snowy previously shared.... -

Yeah sorry, didnt mean to insinuate that. To be honest with the very open rules in classic, I am not sure that you can But must have been a surprise to some of the more established crews. have definitely raised the bar. I am guessing just a new crew that have really taken to it. There must be a heap of undiscovered talent out there.
