How Much Does Your Skyline Cost You A Year?
Freeman replied to Freeman's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Lol yeah thinking that might happen. If i can stop myself from buying the car soon i could possibly save for a mod or two first, because as soon as i buy it i know im gunna be broke for a while. Just an idea How come you had to pay when she hit you? wouldnt her insurance cover that? BLK180 - howd you get that job? Did you have to go to uni? Thats sick money for first year but i suppose it depends what you are doing -
Put a pod filter on it, with plastic piping running from a gap in your front bar to the filter. its called cold air intake. or do what blinky said. You'll get a gtreat induction noise, and if the CAI is attached anfd located properly you won't be sucking in hot air. A blowoff valve is a slightly dfferent noise, and goes off at a different time, e.g when you put your foot on the clutch or back off the accelerator, whereas the filter will only suck when you are accelerating or revving the car.

Um no actually if you read it properly i got the springs fixed, and the problems i had i only found out about every time i got a service. And she got an NRMA inspection before she bought a car. And i took the rubbers out. And dont say its unroadworthy because of the height, how many cars sell while being too low?

How Much Does Your Skyline Cost You A Year?
Freeman replied to Freeman's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I can while I'm at home! I've been living on $50, saving the rest for the car. And that includes petrol in the $50. $450 was my lowest, sometimes it goes up to about $600 depending how much i get called in to work. So my main problem is the loan repayments. I'll think about trying to save for half of the loan as well, that will halve the repayments. Thanks for your advice everybody keep it coming -
Totally agree Ozzy tyres are knobheads. I went there to get new springs in because the previous owner had chopped them and I got defected for it. I told them that I had to clear a defect, drove from Newcastle to Sydney, buggered around all day getting them fitted, got back home, went to a workshop to get it cleared and I was still 2cm under height. Ended up buying 12 rubber blocks, jacking up the car and jamming three in each spring coil, drove VERY carefully back to the workshop, got it cleared and sold the car 3 weeks later. Everything was falling apart from having such a harsh ride for so long. Long story short dont go to Ozzy

How Much Does Your Skyline Cost You A Year?

Thanks for the info guys, where do i find one of these racv inspection places, ive never heard of them before? *Rego*greenslip *Insurance *Servicing (how often, and how much for the 100k service) *Tyres *petrol *Antyhing else I've missed These are fairly obvious and the same with any car you buy. I would be looking at what has had to be replaced as in repairs due to wear and tear. My self.. I've almost clocked 190,000km's (bought at 67,000) and had to replace the following. Clutch master cylinder x 2 ($63 each) Clutch Slave cylinder x 1 ($40 each) Radiator top tank x 1 ($90 inc labour) Clutch Fan ($~50 second hand) Genuine Nissan Cam belt ($90) Did the water pump at this time also, that was $83. I have replaced a clutch twice, purely for power reasons. The stock gave out due to age. So not really because it 'broke'. With the RB20DET I changed oil and a filter every 10,000km's with at first Penrite HPR10 then I moved on to the cheap Motul mineral oil. The RB30DET gets castrol 10w60 and a K&N Oil filter now. I do all the work on my car myself. I can't afford to waste money getting some one else to do it. Rating 1 insurance is just over $600 per year, 18k agreed value. I had a 1996 VS Exec Commodore prior that was a V8, 5 speed, FE2, IRS, SRS, ABS bilstein suspension all round, hd swaybars, 3.5" exhaust etc etc. and that was costing me $600 even. The VS at the time was valued at 20k. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It might be just me but that seems like a pretty small repair bill for 123000kms worth of driving, correct me if im wrong. Im guessing youve got a 32, so wouldnt that be good? Yeah ive heard that unicorn poo is pretty rare. $18000 for the year? Were you 3rd party and wrote the car off? What did it take to rack up a bill that big? Ok one honest question. Does anybody think its viable to own an R34 and maintain it on $450pw after tax, taking into account a $20000 loan repayments (saved the other $10000 or so towards the car)? -
thats an excellent price, who are you with? Whats your age if you dont mind me asking?
-
do you mean wait for the oil to dry after you put it on? if you do, it doesnt dry, it stays like that and grabs hold of dust and crap and stops it from going in your engine.

Hey everybody, I'm considering buying either a 33Gt-st or 34Gt-t in a few months and I just want to make sure about how much these things cost to run, like average dollars per year, not including modifications. If anyone wants to comment on what it will set me back, or how much they currently spend (dont be embarrased folks) please do. Stuff like: *Rego *greenslip *Insurance *Servicing (how often, and how much for the 100k service) *Tyres *petrol *Antyhing else I've missed I'm just looking for a safe figure to save per year to be covered for everything I've done my own research into most of this too, so please dont tell me to go to google, but i just want peoples point of view who own one. Will it cost any more to get a 34gt-t serviced over a 33gtst? Also, I'm leaning towards a 33gtst, simply because i can have it sooner and mods are more common and cheaper. Plus i think for 30 grand you can have a 33 with 12 grand put into it or a stock 34, but also i know that 34's are way less common, have less kms and are a bit better engineered and refined in all aspects. So if anyones got any ideas, opinions or if i have missed anything feel free to comment. Cheers

Weight Difference Between Carbon Fibre And Steel?
Freeman replied to Freeman's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I don't think it would really matter if it was fibreglass on the inside, as long as there was a a good weight advantage over stock. Hmm yeah i remember that thread about the CF bonnet flying off looked nasty. How quick was it going though? I thought it was doing a top speed run and was highly modified, lol i dont think that will be a problem for me -

thanks for that, sounds like an awesome price. Why arent there more gt-ts instead of 33gtsts getting around, for that price? Well not many in Newcastle anyway -

At what boost does your ceramic wheel crap itself?
Freeman replied to Freeman's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Excellent information thanks guys. Shows how much i know i thought hi-flow was when you cut back the fins on the turbine. Doh. So same amount of lag but more power? iS that more power freed up or more power because you can up the boost more? If its more power, how much are we talking about? Thanks again -
Hi ive heard if you put the boost up too high the ceramic turbine wheel gets spat in pieces either into your engine or into your cat. This doesnt sound good. What boost level can your 33gtst be put up to without this happening? And is it possible to upgrade to a steel wheel, because this *sounds* like a better idea. If not why not?

Ah ok thanks for that. Yeah they have all been going for about 45 bucks might be a good investment
