Anyone Able To Help Me Get A Car Back From Interstate ?
writeoff replied to DamageInc's topic in South Australia
Mitch - you car hire a car trailer for about $70 per day + $20 deposit. If you have a decent car to tow the trailer and able to drive over, spend the night and then drive back you could get your Skyline here for $140 plus fuel. $70 if you were really keen to drive over and back within 24 hours (although I wouldn't recommend this if you don't have someone to take turns at driving). Just a suggestion. -
Still waiting to find out if you have to have a fire extinguisher for this track day? Also can people suggest places to buy a helmet from? I've been to a couple of places but struggling to find one that fits properly (small skinny head but has to clear my prescription sunglasses & normal glasses). I live down south so would prefer not to travel up north but will if necessary.

I've sent in my form, paid and received the confirmation email. I'm just hoping that I get the GTR back in time.

Unfortunately the answer is really dependant upon how much you want (or have) to spend. These cars can be brilliant fun but they also rip your heart out as quickly as any female. When my big end bearing spun I went the forged internals route. It cost a lot and the car was off the road for a long time but I didn't want it to happen again. Going with stock internals can again you always run that risk. After a lot of research and asking advice on SAU I decided upon the following formula: CP pistons & rings Tomei conrod bolts Tomei 1.2mm metal head gasket Tomei oil restrictor Tomei sump baffle kit Tomei poncams 260 9.15 lift + pulley set R33 GTR gasket set R33 GTR long nose crank R33 GTR harmonic balancer ARP head studs SARD 700cc injectors Nismo fuel pump Nismo AFMs Nismo timing belt N1 oil pump (if I had the $ I would get either a JUN or Tomei pump) N1 water pump HKS GT-SS turbos HKS dumps (I think most on SAU rate the Trust ones more now) Splitfire ignition coils Apexi PFC + HC I can't recall what brand of valves & springs I used right now but you get the picture anyway. It costs a lot! A cheaper alternative could be to look through the for sale section and see if someone is selling a rebuilt motor that has forged internals. I sem to recall seeing one for $8k a while ago and there are a few people abandoning big hp projects or wrecking GTRs atm. Good luck.

That hurts Dave. Thanks Ben. I dropped the 205 off today to get new bushes, pads, fluids, brake bleed, Recaro race seat fitted (so long as the frame isn't too expensive) and a tune. My 62fwkW of power to chase down these barge-arsed Jap-crap Skylines [edit: and 200sx].

Do we need a fire extinguisher for this? I was going to suggest that we hire 1 shed between us to leave all our tools, jerry cans etc. At $25 it will only cost a litre of petrol per person.

Bloody hell Luke. That was hella quick. I would still be sulking and my thumb wouldn't have left my mouth yet to even pick up a spanner (or a phone in my case). Good luck. I hope you get through 1st time.

Steve - you're not suppose to tell them about the pain until after they join. I gave too much away already at the dinner by mentioning the paddle. And my coilovers the one before that. But really I'm just holding a grudge against every one on SAU that drove past me after the bearing spun and stranded my GTR on a SAU cruise. I still remember people. Revenge will be mine! Muuhahhahahahhhaabababhaahba *drool*

Strippers. But car related events: Grip track days Motorkhana Drag events (I know there is no track in SA) which leads me onto my next point: Combined events with our SAU interstate brethren (probably the Vics because they are close enough to drive to) that could incorporate a SAU dinner, track day and cruise. I think one dyno day a year is enough. I think 2 car show a year is enough. I think 2 big cruises a year is enough.

Dave - just get Heslo to email you the link from his torrent site. I do it quite often for a mate of mine in the UK. I haven't figured out if it effects my ratio or not but I imagine it does. Sucks that Demoniod is down.

+1 to all the above stories. My grey GTR rear spoiler had a little bit of paint flake off due to the high pressure hose. Every time I washed the car from then on a little bit more would flake away whether I used a sponge, the brush or hose. Remember that Japan's climate is harsher on paint than ours (snow, cyclones etc) and both my cars sat on the docks for extended periods before they could be brought into Australia. I still use the high pressure hose but I take a bucket and sponge and use Soft Wash Gel rather than the brushes - just means that I always have to wash the car at night.

Double post. So for your viewing pleasure:

True but the exhaust system wasn't fitted correctly back then and your car was fully loaded with food, drinks, fishing equipment and ~260kgs of man-flesh. Speed humps just need to be taken slowly and at an angle. Same with driveways. Personally I think your Bilsteins are fine and you could save your $ but I haven't driven the car in a long time and never did as a daily.

Scandy - following on from our conversation at dinner tonight why did you pick that particular chick for your avatar? Don't get me wrong - she's gorgeous and I guess most of the photos from that site wouldn't be approved on SAU, but you've had her smiling at us for a while now. If you can post others... well... post away. PS - I'm glad that Heslo & yourself avoided the yellow stickers tonight. 1 defect a night should be a limit for SAU-SA.

I wanted to keep that paddle. I had... ahem... plans for it. Pity the Ale House chick didn't let me. It would have been handy as part of an initiation ritual for all new SAU-SA members (and all non-members).

Nice R Jarred but you do realise that when you own an import you are forbidden to park any closer than 30cm to the curb so you never risk scratching your rims. I will forgive this 1st offence but please be mindful of your proximity next time you park your car.

Name and shame. Nothing like a bit of peer pressure or online humiliation to get stuff returned. Who borrowed the spanner?
-
No you didn't. Lex ate your chips as well as Vu's schnitty on top of his own that was hanging off of the plate! I predict Lex will suffer stomach cramps tomorrow followed by some liquid poo.

I might come to this. I'm sure there will be enough no-shows for me to fit. I'd be more likely if I could get a lift in with someone from down south - Happy Valley area.

Seriously Dave.... just watch a porno or hire a hooker like the rest of us.

Just received my brand new LaCie 500GB portable HDD (Samsung) that I paid $3.96 for.

When: June 2006 Where: Nurburgring, Germany With who: A great mate who is also called David The Car: 2006 Porsche Cayman S Any pre-setup involved: It was an adventure just to get the Cayman that started with a booking for a 911 S, went to options of a Boxter or a Mustang, 6 hours later looked like having to be a Smart car before being saved by a gorgeous German blond driving a Hummer off the clock (ie beyond the range of the speedo gauge) and culminating with Cayman S. And then a 4 hour drive on the Autobahn after being awake for 30+ hours. Favourite memory of the day: That I had ticked off one item on my 'Things to do before I die' list. Things you learnt about the car: Gearbox whine was annoying at constant speeds above 100kmph but the mid-engine sounded brilliant above 4000rpm. The weight distribution was really good. Things you learnt about yourself: I was poorly skilled and needed training. Things you learnt about the track: It was daunting at first but as I did more laps my confidence grew. GT4 is not anything like the real thing. How much fun you had: Counted among the best days of my life. I wrote a thread about my adventures at the Ring on SAU for those who want more info and pics: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Nu...ing++world++cup

I like them but I wouldn't pay $2000 for them. Maybe they need some other mods to set them off like this car at Willall. I wouldn't mind if this car flashed me BB.

Hi all, My car is getting some work done and the repairer contacted me to say I need a new hose. I took some pics but don't know the exact name to order from Nissan (or find a decent 2nd hand one). Can you help me out? Cheers.
