  1. Firstly massive kudos and thanks to Cara, Ruby, John Keen, Shane and anyone else involved in putting the day on. Was a great turnout, a good variety of cars, no car died (I hope the R31 wagon was ok), some good dyno numbers and most importantly was a well run event. Congrats to Andrew (Blue32) for taking out the Dyno Queen trophy with 390.x rwkW! I would have liked to have seen how close to that I could've come but alas the new Blitz EBC didn't want to release more than 11psi.
  2. Just spotted a tough looking black Stagea at Graham West's on Marion Road with R34 GTR rims. Nice!
  3. Looks like my car will be stuck in RWD with no ABS so I'll be the guy facing the wrong way each corner and having everyone take evasive action around me. The new G sensor which my car needs costs about $3000. F**ken GTRs!
  4. I went to that - it was on my 21st birthday. Bludged uni and spent the day lining up to get a spot right up front. Only problem was that friends came and gave me presents so I had all this stuff to look after. I was in the second row with one of my female friends directly in front of me and I had my arms either side of her, holding the fence to try and prevent her from being crushed. I withstood the Meanies set and about 10 songs by Pearl Jam before exhaustion & dehydration meant I had to leave and get a drink & rest. Had a great night though, not a typical 21st party.
  5. My car definitely won't be ready - sorry. One of the reserves can have the 2:45pm time slot. I actually ran my car on HiTech's dyno last week as I felt it was severely underpowered. This proved to be true as the dyno sheet below indicates. Also shows that my boost controller is not working at all.
  6. Hey George, are you taking your Supra to this? Have you finished all the mods (turbo, manifolds etc) on your car now?
  7. I dropped off my car at Manta on Monday with a LONG list of things to get fixed before this event. I dread the bill I am going to receive but I need my 4WD, ABS, PFC, intercooler, brake ducts and engine working properly plus a stack of other things. The rest can wait until after the big day. Hopefully the GTR will be ready and I won't have to take the Pug.
  8. My car most likely won't be ready. I will know for sure in the next couple of days but most likely the 2:45pm slot will be open for one of the reserves.
  9. This was parked across the road from my house all day today. I walked past it shaking my head thinking that the owner would actually believe that his/her car looks good... Pretty sure I spotted DAYZ's yellow Stagea turning right from South Road to go down Chandlers Hill Road on Tuesday about 3:15pm.
  10. That is the best bit of advice for using a clutch in a GTR. I had to alter my driving style that I had developed in my Peugeot 205 GTI. I leave the heal on the floor to the side of the clutch pedal, similar to how you heel-toe with your right foot, and lift my foot by the ankle rather than moving the entire leg. I only do this for first. When I first bought my GTR it had a Nismo twin plate which I found very difficult to drive slowly in traffic or for parking. It had less than 2cm of difference between on & off and I stalled it a lot to begin with. I have since replaced it with a Jim Berry Full Monte single plate which is just as strong and much easier to drive with in the daily grind and to parallel park. My GTR puts out ~350rwkW and it is well up to the task.
  11. What a shit day! I woke up with a headache. Did some housework. Watched the Crows lose after getting reamed by the umpires in the first half. Decide to go and wash my car and get done by a red light/speed camera on the way to the car wash. I was doing exactly 80kmph in an 80 zone and was well into the intersection before the light went red. F**king $300 odd dollar car wash! How can you contest the bloody tickets without risking an even greater fine? I should have stayed in bed.
  12. I have my own question regarding tyre pressures so thought I'd add it to this thread. I recently had Kumho KU36 Ecsta XS 275/35/18 fitted all around my R32 GTR ~1500kg, ~350rwkW. I had always previously used 34psi on my GTR but are these tyres considered semi-slicks and should the pressure be around 22psi? I seem to recall that was the pressure that Wheels or Motor magazine used on their semi-slicks in a tyre comparison last year. http://kumhotyres.businesscatalyst.com/pcrku36.htm My question is what psi should I use for daily driving? I am also going on a track day on August 25 at Mallala, what should the tyre pressures be for that day?
  13. I had 2 of my 18 x 10" BBS LM rims repaired at Extensive Wheel & Rim Services for $200 per rim although mine had a clear layer on them that cost more. They took a week to fix them. In regards to getting $ from the council you will need to take photos of the pothole including measurements of its depth, length & width. You should report it to them prior to making a claim as well. Ironically Fifth Gear did a segment on this just last month (s16e05). In the UK they have over 40 million pounds set aside to pay out victims of potholes so you may be in with a chance. Over there the pothole had to be at least 40mm deep. It would be worth enquiring about it.
  14. Those carts are too uneven for a proper contest. The first cart Anthony & I were in had about an inch of movement in the steering column (up & down) which made it very difficult to steer. Not surprisingly the steering cable snapped and put Anthony under the railing causing us to be lapped 3 times and forcing a cart change. The 2nd cart was significantly underpowered and cost us an extra 2 seconds per lap. Plus Anthony was injured when the cable snapped and I'm not even sure who drove the last leg of the race for us. Kudos to Krishy for organising a great event. I had a lot of fun until getting pummelled twice with only 2 laps to go. Back is sore today after the Showdown but at least the Crows won. And Scandy, the 2nd cart I drove had a much wider seat and I was sliding in it when cornering. Like I said, the carts are too uneven for a proper contest.

Same. I was close to the Friday night margin too which had me in the running for $2000 until Richmond won. At least the Crows pantsed the Flower and gained some valuable %.
  16. I'm also trying to decide what gear to wear.
  17. I've got a Pentium 60 with 16MB RAM, 15" colour monitor, keyboard, mouse etc still.
  18. Faxed mine in yesterday. Now I just have to get the GTR back and running properly or else my little Pug is going to look pretty funny surrounded by Supras and Skylines.
  19. I just want to say that my mum tells me of Skylines that she spots whilst driving around. She is pretty good at picking the GTRs and knows the difference in shape of the 32s & 33s by referring to them as like my car (R32 GTR) or Chris' car (he has a R33 GTR that's been at my house for a while). Kudos Mum - you are way cool.
  20. Hi Mark, I hope this thread has been of help. I should have mentioned that you should keep a copy of all the paperwork you fill out and of all correspondence and reports. You are entitled to get a copy of the police accident report too. I would also ask for a copy of your GPs notes too (assuming you had to see a GP to get a certificate for the week off of work). And it would be to your advantage if you could file everything so that you can find it later. I am still dealing with insurance companies for accidents that occurred in 2002, 2003, 2007 & 2008. It is a long process and insurance companies will delay paying you for as long as possible. You may be asked to produce documents that are generated at the time of the accident. For me that is nearly 7 years ago and counting!
  21. I have 18x10 +20 rims on my R32 GTR with 275/35/18 tyres and had to get the guards rolled to fit the tyres. These rims came with the car but I personally wouldn't go wider than 9.5" if I was buying rims for the car. My rims sit inside the guards at the top but not at the bottom. I wouldn't even try for 10.5".

  23. I was the first person to do so. Are we just paying John Keen on the day or do we pay you beforehand Cara?
  24. Cheers. How are we going to determine teams and starting grid positions?

The next Showdown will be a Crows' home game. Carlton wore a yellow guernsey against Freo yesterday in support of cancer research by the Cancer Foundation. Is that the top you are referring to? Is was pretty awful but it was for a good cause (all the players signed their tops and they were/will be sold as a fund raiser. And as a Crows' supporter we never give away an automatic win. Adelaide has never won less than 8 games in a season. It is the equivalent of Liverpool or Man United but on a much smaller scale and within the confines of the AFL (salary cap, drafts etc to equalise the clubs). It is an AFL superclub.
