  1. Car: Full respray in Gun Metal Grey so it looks pretty again & a Nismo Lighter. Me: A chair to sit at my computer and search SAU.
  2. Can you provide any suggestions of other places I can have a look at? A link would be most appreciated. Cheers
  3. I realise this but combined shipping prices increase when separating the orders and the AUD$1000 customs threshold includes the shipping amount. I'm yet to hear back from tirerack for separate quotes for pairs of tyres.
  4. Hey Martin, I have been doing a fair bit of research on tyres lately as I'll need some as soon as I get my GTR back... if I ever do! I've decided to get the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric. These are the latest versions of the F1s and have only been in Aust for a short time but have been OS for a few years now. I know they were used in the Motor comparison but the car they used was a 197 Cliosport which is a lot lighter and a lot less powerful than our GTRs and they still performed well. I think/hope the F1 Asymmetric will be more suitable for our cars. A lot of my research has come from here: http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/ and here: http://www.1010tires.com/tirereviews.asp As for pricing they are expensive. Asking for 265/35/18 I called Tyrepower in town (8410 1312) and was quoted $707 per tyre. The Goodyear Autocare at Hampstead Gardens (8261 2811) quoted me $640 each. Both these prices included fitting and balancing but not a wheel alignment. Taleb Tyres (Ali) - a business trader on SAU - quoted me $580 for the 265/35/18 and interestingly $505 for 275/35/18. These do include delivery to my door but not fitting and balancing nor wheel alignment. I also emailed http://www.tirerack.com/ in the US and was quoted USD$1241.19 for 4x 265/35/18 delivered. At an exchange rate of 0.68 this works out to AUD$1826 or $456.50 each. BUT may (should) incur Australian duty which would put the price up another 10% (I believe) to AUD$2008 or $502 each. Naturally the exchange rate will vary and this may push the prices up again. I still have to suss out if I can get the tyres from the USA without the extra taxes. As you can see there is a fair bit of difference in pricing and that was only from 4 sources that I tried. Most likely I am going to go with Taleb Tyres (Ali) and order the 275/35/18 as my rims are 18x10 and these will fit easily. I'm just waiting on the official 'OK' from my insurance company that they will replace two of my BBS LM rims as they cost $2040 each! I hope this helped a little. It may be above your price range but I have provide some links that people may find useful. As I side note I recently had the Bridgestone Adrenalins fitted to the front of my Peugeot 205 GTI and I have been very impressed with them so far. I did this before the Motor test came out and chose them based on a fair bit of research. I just have doubts as to how well they will perform on a heavier car putting 350kW to the ground but have no way of knowing unless someone else buys them and we can do some testing...
  5. I just looked at the teaser and realised (was told actually) that I took one of those photos. Was my name mentioned on the back of the calender? I think copyright infringements will total about... 25 cents. You'll be hearing from my lawyers
  6. The following points came from an article by Martin Donnon in HPI magazine #90. - Only fill the petrol tank to 0.25 full (half way for R32 GTRs). - Take out all unnecessary stuff like the spare tyre, jack, car mats and any shit you have in the boot, glove box, centre bin, back seat etc. - Put 22psi in all the tyres. - Warm up the tyres properly (granted this is more difficult in a R33/R34 GTR without a torque split controller). - Sit on the rev limiter for 5 seconds and then dump the clutch... - But avoid hitting the rev limiter as you change through the gears so be ready to grab 2nd! - Keep you right foot planted until you are across the line ie don't back off when you see the line approaching. Some extra tips if you i) have the parts, ii) can be bothered changing them & iii) have the $ and time: - Remove the passenger & rears seats, speakers, door trim etc - Use smaller rims - the stock R32 GTR rims are good or even 15" - Use the stock GTR suspension. - Use specifically designed drag radials eg Mickey Thompson (if you can afford them). Good luck and lets us know how you go. PS - I have never done any of the above as AIR has been closed since I've owned my R32 GTR
  7. Dogs - I had my first shift at the RSPCA yesterday. My football teams (Socceroos, Adelaide United, Barcalona, Crows & Glenelg) kicking goals and winning matches. The gas the dentist gives me. Driving on German autobahns. Having a German wheat beer with mates. When my GTR is actually running and coming on boost.
  8. Wow! A lot happened on the SAU-SA soap opera today. I knew I should have set my video before going to indoor soccer. So let me get this straight: Cruises have finished? SAU gangs have formed? Police are to be notified everytime we start our cars? And everybody here has sand in their...body? You all make me LOL! Thankyou. Peace.
  9. PM sent re COD4.
  10. How much do you want for the BOVs, what year are they & how many kms? Cheers.
  11. I'm trying to decide between the HKS EVC V and the Blitz SBC i-D SPEC-R. I can get both for around $600 new. I currently have a HKS EVC III that has died for no apparent reason (my mechanic spent 4 hours with Martin Donnon trying to get it to work with no success). Are there any advantages/disadvantages between the 2 products? HKS EVC V http://www.nengun.com/hks/evc-v Blitz SBC i-D Spec-R http://www.nengun.com/blitz/sbc-i-d-spec-r Cheers.
  12. Having read most of this thread I can understand why the editing rules exist. Perhaps a more permanent editing function could only became active for users with 200+ posts. I know that won't remove the risk altogether and that some people who don't post very regularly could be disadvantaged but surely it will remove scammers who join, post items for sale, take peoples money and then bail. Just a suggestion (I hope it wasn't made in the thread already).
  13. WTD: A genuine R32 GTR Front Bar preferably with N1 slots. 2x 18"x10" + 20 BBS LM Rims with gold centre piece (as per pic) PM me please.
  14. You have been given all the right advice here. I would listen to Beer Baron's post for what to do without removing the engine. As someone who HAS blown an R32 GTR RB26, and personally know 4 other people who have done the same, ALL of us did it above 8000rpm! The best advice I can offer (and many have stated it already) is don't go above 7200rpm. Simple really. I wish I had been advised of this 2 years ago. Learn from other peoples' mistakes.
  15. Thanks for the update. I too would like to see pictures. Congrats to Haltech for finding the limits (I know that's a weird thing to say but that's how we find out the limits of all engines - by blowing them up) and I hope they learnt heaps from it that will advance future development of the VR38DETT. I feel for them in terms of how long it will take to do the rebuild and the $ involved. Hopefully the research was worth it.
  16. Could you post some pics please and give some dimensions & kgs.
  17. That sux man. I've had people do hit'n-runs 3 times on my Peugeot 205 GTI. At least all panels on your car can be replaced. Peugeot stopped making the rear red reflector strip about 10 years ago. They can go for $1000 now-a-days for one that says Peugeot 205 GTI.
  18. After switching some cables and disconnecting the second phone line.
  19. 3-0 in the first leg of the semi-final of the Asian Champions League. Their opposition - Uzbekistan's Kuruvchi (Bunyodkor) - have almost limitless funding to buy players. Rivaldo is earning US$7 million a year with them, whereas Adelaide United have a salary cap of AUD$1.9 million + whatever money is being wasted on Paul Agostino. A pretty good effort and Hindmarsh stadium was rocking.
  20. U-NI-TED!!! GO YOU REDS!
  21. When I had my RB26 rebuild designed at Willall Racing, Peter Hall recommended CPs over the other brands (although he hadn't tried Mahle but believed they were very good) because he said the rings were better. He said the actual pistons all the major Japanese brands (Tomei, HKS, Trust etc) were good and very similar but in his experience of building drag GTRs as well as numerous other high performance GTRs the rings failed. I chose 86.5mm CP.
  22. My dual Blitz atmo venting BOVs are damaged and I need new ones. I was going to get stock GTR BOVs and reconnect the BOV return pipe (I'd need to get a collector 'Y' piece). My question is are R34 GTR V-Spec BOVs interchangable with an R32 GTR? My mechanic is not sure if the R34 valves use the same mixing tube as the 32 /33. Thanks.
  23. Simple - crime. Theft, muggings, car jacking etc. Just remember to pay the standard 30% to the locals. Try a Post Office. You'd be surprised how much cash the have with relatively little security, but remember that it's a federal offence so your jail time will be greater if you get caught. And if that does happen remember Bubba likes the newbies to shave first.
  24. Is that at Willall? Did Keir buy another toy?
