Congrats to everyone who entered and on winning the Best Club Attitude trophy. I think that says a lot about the leadership and members of SAU:SA and those of you who contributed in anyway to the display at Autosalon should be proud. Whilst I have never entered a car show I can appreciate the time, effort and money that goes into presenting a car for something like Autosalon. Just getting each car clean enough is something that I respect. Well done guys.

I don't understand all the TPG haters. If you are someone that backs up the internet regularly then TPG plans are second to none. I had Internode for years and whilst they had much better after sales service, their speeds were the same, the drop out rate the same and I don't do any gaming on my PC (I use the PS3). In the end getting 150GB per month with TPG for the same $ as I was getting 20GB with Internode wasn't even comparable. Now I get 200GB for the same $.

History has shown that ladder positions and previous form count for very little in Showdowns and quite often the favourite loses. Overall the Power lead 15-13. Since the 'Ultimate Showdown' semi-final in 2005 the results have gone: 2006 Rd 06: Crows 2006 Rd 21: Power 2007 Rd 03: Crows 2007 Rd 18: Crows 2008 Rd 03: Crows 2008 Rd 16: Power 2009 Rd 06: Power 2009 Rd 17: Crows 2010 Rd 06: Power 2010 Rd 17: Power

Anyone keen to go to the Showdown this Sunday? Game kicks off at 4:10pm. Prices are for adults are $38.85 undercover; $35.85 from 50m arc, along the wing to other 50m arc; or $26.50 behind the goals. Prices for concession are $29.15 undercover; $27.65 50m arc to 50m arc; $20.35 behind the goals. These games are generally tight and the Power won the round 6 game this year. I wouldn't be surprised if the Power turned their fortunes around and squashed the Crows' finals aspirations. Let me know if you want to go as I'd like to book tickets either tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

My rims cost $2200... each. That's $8800 worth of rims + delivery + tyres. Luckily the former owner paid for them and then Shannons when I damaged two of them.

I'll enter this one. Now which car should I bring - the R32 GTR or the R33 GTR? Or the Peugeot...

Actually Pete the Crows beat Richmond in round 7 so they only lost 6 in a row. Crows will also regain Bock, McLeod, Knights, Burton & Mackay in the next couple of weeks. If they can find form and match fitness the Crows have a very slight chance of making the 8 but will more likely shape the ranking of the final 8 but ultimately miss out on September action. IMO Choco was shoved out the door but is getting some payments (although it is rumoured to be less than his full contract). It will be interesting to see how the players respond. Historically clubs win the game immediately after a mid-season change of coach for often than not. However, the game against the WBD in Darwin (I think) will be a tough ask. It's nice to see the Crows above the Power though.

The insurance standard alarms have 3 point immobilisers on them. They are what prevent cars being stolen. Alarms to nothing except wake your neighbours and annoy everyone. Club locks can slow thieves down but I have seen one broken in 10 seconds. Ultimately they act as a visual deterrent to amateurs but will not stop a 'professional' car thief. Sorry to hear about your car Thomas and I hope it turns up undamaged.

Too much phone talk in this thread. Boring.

Did I understand your posts correctly Tangles - you won an auction for a R33 GTR that you didn't want to win and now have to sell immediately?

I was referring to domesticated animals not dingos. But I imagine with the right training this cross would be fine. Show dogs would have presumably had better diets and a good level of training than a mongrel from Davoren Park (although I've never been to the suburb and have no idea what a mongrel from there would be). Therefore genetically the Showdogs would have some advantages. But it is a FACT that in-breeding occurs with lots of showdogs to ensure that certain, aesthetically pleasing traits (as determined by administration boards of Kennel Clubs throughout the world), are continued with each litter. And the dogs that are born without this 'desirable trait' are usually put down even though the are genetically superior because of the variety within their genetic code. This has specifically occurred in the King Charles Spaniel and Rhodesian Ridgebacks breeds as well as many other. Dog temperament is dependent upon where, how, and for how long it is looked after. Simple.

Well I should probably go to bed after another night of watching the World Cup. I was disappointed when I went for a walk at 6am that the sun still hadn't come up. I didn't see it yesterday and probably won't see it again today.

Congrats! Looks like a beautiful puppy. Please make sure you train and exercise it properly and love it dearly. Sorry Steve but I'm going to call bullshit on that statement. I have volunteered at the Lonsdale RSPCA in the boarding section for over 18 months now where we have a minimum of 70 dogs every day and up to 120/130 dogs per day on long weekends. After looking after, walking, playing with, feeding and grooming 1000s of dogs I can tell you that temperament problems have nothing to do with cross breeding. Dogs are the most loving and loyal creatures (to humans) on the planet. Temperament problems that can occur will usually be due to the humans that come in contact with the dog, its surroundings and everyday life, if the dog has been attacked before, or in some cases mental illness (just like humans have). As someone who studied genetics I can tell you that 'pure bred' dogs have suffered from generations of in-breeding, usually grandfather & granddaughter mating, and IIRC in some breeds there are less than 50 variances in their genetic code, ie they are closer to extinction than the Panda Bear. I will need to search to provide a reference for that statement though. Cross breeds vary the genetics of the dog and are therefore likely to live longer and suffer less illness. I had all this info on my old C: drive which died so I'll have to search for the books again to elaborate further.

Am I the only one who realises that your joke is wrong! You already have an A and an I listed. Sorry but you F__L. You put that on your FB status as well Andrew.

Brum? Is that meant to be a sound effect?

Now I'm confused...weren't they racing when the incident occurred?

If those 4 are the only wheels you are considering then I would rank them like this: Panasport F1 Work Meisters --------------------------- Work Euroline/VIP style --------------------------- SSR Mesh

Congrats Kellie! Some things for you to consider: A lot of people choose not to inform people about a pregnancy within the first 12 weeks. You could based your decision not to inform a potential employer on this principle alone. If it is a large national company then the paperwork will most likely contain a question along the lines of 'Do you have any medical condition that may impair or prevent you from fulfilling your designated role?' You will have to sign the paperwork. I imagine that you will be put on a probationary period of 3 months after which you will be about 5 months pregnant and presumably displaying your baby bump vividly. A large national/multinational company will have policies in place for dealing with a pregnant employee and a new parent. You could always ring the Human Resources department for the company and say (without giving your name) that you are considering applying for a position with the company and want to enquire about their policy for pregnant employees and new parents. FWIW morally I would feel more compelled to inform a small private business than a large national or multinational company. It appears you share the same morals from your earlier actions. Nowhere near the same scenario but the last two companies that I worked for, both large multinational companies, I informed them in the first interview (one job had 4 interviews and the other had 6) that I had planned, booked and paid for a holiday within the first few months of the starting date. In both cases it was not a problem as I had given them plenty of notice. I was told in later interviews that they were pleased that I had informed them straight up in the first interview and they would have been less happy had I obtained the position and then informed them. Good luck!

I so nearly picked Richmond for the AFL Gauntlet tipping comp (you have to pick one winner from round 7 to 22 but can only pick each team once). The hardest part in this comp is tipping when the crap sides (like Richmond, Adelaide, Hawthorn, West Coast etc) will win. The rule of thumb is tip whoever is playing Richmond. This week I thought the Tigers were a chance to win as the Power were coming back from Darwin. If the game had been played in Melbourne I would have tipped the Tigers. If I had paid more attention to the weather predictions I would have tipped the Tigers as well. Instead I went for the safest bet and picked Geelong to beat Melbourne, who were also coming back from Darwin, and had rested their newest gun midfielders Scully & Trengove.

Vettel was clearly at fault and was a twat in the first place for attempting such a move. Webber moved over and then held his line, Vettel had the speed to get just ahead but appeared to lose control for a fraction and turned into Webber's car. In the end it cost Vettel more than anyone else expect for Reb Bull Racing.

I received mine weeks ago but mine are numbered 138 & 139. I guess they've sold a few more tickets since then. Have just been sorting out how to get to Eastern Creek. Looks like 2 trains and a cab.
-
ok. Just checking the info on cityrail but it's not the most user friendly site. Think I have it sorted get on the Eastern Suburbs/Illawarra Line at Rockdale. Get off at Redfern (or Central) and then catch the North Shore/Western Line to Rooty Hill. Get off and catch a cab. Sweet. That would be awesome but there will be 2 of us so I'm not expecting anything. Would like to meet some of you guys out there though, the only NSW member I've met before is Jess (Sinful) and she'll be working in the control tower.
-
Hi guys, I'm flying in from Adelaide to watch this. I'll be staying in Rockdale on the Princes Hwy, what's the best way to get to Eastern Creek via public transport? Cheers

Troy what are those cars you posted above? Specifically the one you labelled 'True Car Porn' (it looks like a modified Porsche Carrera GT) & the 'Family Truckster' which is obviously a Porsche Panamera but modified by which workshop? Both look awesome - which is some effort for the Panamera which looks shite in standard form.
