  1. So where are all the promo girl shots
  2. Anyone after a cheap *cough* R32 GTR?
  3. I would suggest Motul RBF 660 ~$55/500ml or Elf Lub HTX ~$40/500ml. I tried the Elf stuff last trackday and experienced zero fade throughout the day. I got it from AutoSports on Magill Rd and was given some discount. I've also found Motul at AutoSports, Motorbike shops and Repco (on South Rd St Marys). I doubt that would be the RBF 660. If so that is a great price! I have been told this as well and my own experience with 600 was less than impressive (but I have no idea how long it had been since the brakes were last bled). When I mentioned it to my mechanic he disagreed and cited previous track records at Malllala with ABS equipped cars using RBF 600. For the next trackday I switched to Elf Lub HTX and thought it was excellent and about $15 less than Motul RBF 660 (going on RRP).
  4. I'm not a massive F1 fan but a lot of my close mates are and I get told about it whether I give a shit or not. Unlike most in this thread I support Webber simply because he is Australian and from the little I know of the guy he seems like an ok bloke - unlike other drivers in F1. However 2010 held some interest for me as Lotus was back, Michael Schu was back, Webber might be in a decent car, etc etc. So I watched the race... and it was another typical boring F1 race. I'll stick with WRC. Way more exciting with much more variety in everything bar manufacturers now.
  5. I hate insomnia.
  6. I say this to everyone who is considering buying a R32 GTR but very few agree and even less listen. A 1994 model is 16yo. The ceramic turbos will most likely disintegrate at some time in the future. All RB26 engines have a design fault that can result in spinning bearings. If you have $25k to spend you can get a very good R32 GTR. Personally I would go for one that has had it's engine rebuilt or swapped so that it has forged pistons and conrod bolts. I would want one that had steel wheeled turbos and a better oil pump, larger sump or baffle plate and oil control. I'd also want a long nosed R33 crank. If you don't know about these problems I suggest you do more research in the Forced Induction forum. You can buy modified car that still looks standard but will give you less head/heart/wallet ache in the future. FYI - I have owned 2x R32 GTRs (although I have sold one of them) and owned my current one since April 2005.
  7. Glad you found your niece Ruby and I hope that she is ok and being scared was the worst of what she when through. I am surprised that she didn't have, or didn't use, a mobile phone.
  8. I can't comment on the durability of the KU36s yet but they are not that bad to drive in the wet. I had been doing a spirited hills run when it started to rain and while I started slipping very slightly I was still able to continue at a decent pace. I have also driven in pouring rain with them and took the usual precautions that I take in that kind of weather regardless of the tyres I have ie increase the distance from the car in front, try to avoid heavy acceleration and heavy braking, turn lights on so other cars can see you better etc. PS - I have a 335rwk GTR but usually drive around running 14psi so ~250rwkW.
  9. Actually I give kudos to the girls. They are working all day, usually in heels, with guys all day asking to have photos taken with them which they dutifully do and smile in. Some of these guys would be trying to cop a feel or squeeze something that doesn't belong to them. Andrew, Nick and I did the promo girl cruise about 3pm and you could tell quite a few of them were pretty tired but they were all friendly and all smiled for us. Of course they get paid good $ as well so that helps but it would be a long, hot day with a bunch off strangers touching you all day and leering from a distance.
  10. I agree but she didn't seem all that bright as she kept stuffing up the spiel they had been instructed to tell everyone. Not that I would hold that against her - maybe she was nervous in my presence I quite liked the Norton's girl as well, a better height match too although the Fujitsu girl was wearing FMBs with a lot of heel. I took a photo of Andrew with 3 of the Fujitsu girls that he posted in Facebook that were probably the best trio we encountered all day. There were a couple of promo girls that we bypassed as ... well... they looked a bit... um... skanky.
  11. Thanks Andrew (Nightcrawler) for the ticket to the Clipsal today. Had a great time and thought you guys might appreciate some of the pics. Apparently there were cars there as well...
  12. I will.
  13. Cara I really disagree with your thinking here. I know you feel guilty but hiding from it is not going to solve it. Go and visit your friend. Tell him you are sorry. He will forgive you. He was there and he knows how quickly it all happened. You both need to talk about it and as Krishy said you both will feel better afterwards. The reason that he was in the car is because he was your friend. Be his friend now and go and see him. It won't be as difficult as you have built it up in your mind. He will need you help and support for rehab. You will need his help and support to deal with your guilt. Don't abandon each other now when you need each other the most. That is the true test of friendship.
  14. Is this a fact? I'm asking because I have no idea and have never seen a vinyl wrapped car in the flesh. I have considered doing this to my own car but have always wondered how durable a vinyl wrap would be in the harsh Australian sun over time. Can anyone provide pictures of a vinyl wrapped car and then show it 1-2 years later and 5 years later if possible? A car that actually gets driven too, and not just rolled out for display at car shows.
  15. I'm sorry to hear about your friend Cara and hope the surgery went well. I understand you feeling guilt, it is only natural. I once sat in the car with a lady, kept her calm and phoned her husband for her to inform him of the accident that she had just been in - an accident that I caused - while waiting for an ambulance to arrive. Later I mailed her all the drivers' details as 4 cars were involved and wished her a rapid, painless and full recovery. Of course I know how long neck injuries take to heal and know that she probably endured a lot a pain, and may have limited mobility as a result. Some time later she called me and thanked me for the letter and for sitting with her in the car until the paramedics could load her into an ambulance. Unfortunately these things happen. They are called accidents for a reason as there is no intent to harm. Don't be too harsh on yourself and just try to be supportive for your friend, because he will need it and only the two of you know what happened and shared the experience. Make sure that you have someone to support you too. For the record the accident I caused was as a result of using a mobile phone. I was working for a pharmaceutical company and was trying to call a restaurant in Victor Habor to book a dinner. I was using a car kit with microphone and speaker and had pressed the call button while stationary waiting for a green light. The lights changed to green and whilst accelerating the number came back as engaged and I looked at the phone to press the red button and disconnect the call. In that time frame the 3rd car in front of me stopped. To this day I don't know why as the lights were still green. Anyway the result of travelling downhill, accelerating and looking at the phone for a split second meant that I reacted too slowly and hit the car in front causing a chain collision into 3 other cars. The lady was in the front one. PS - I was driving a company car - a new 2002 VX Commodore that I had complained about twice to the dealership about its poor brakes and suspension under braking. PPS - I never use my phone when driving. All calls can be returned. All messages can be read and answered later. I exacerbated injuries to my own spine and cause injuries to others whilst using the phone in the correct, legal manner. Never take anything for granted when driving.
  16. I wouldn't make a judgement on a GTR by its price tag. I would check all cars that I was seriously considering and take them to a GTR specialist (ask other members on here for places to go to interstate) and get the car checked out, compression tested, dyno tested etc whether they were $13k or $125k. GTRs eat $. More so if you can't work on them yourself. But they are a lot of fun
  17. Are you ok Cara? Any updates on your friend? Sorry to hear about the cars involved but your health and your friend's health are way more important. I hope everything works out ok.
  18. Both response ignore the issue of time which was my main point. You can't meditate for 24 hours a day let alone continuously for a decade.
  19. Then please enlighten me what the exact correct way to read 'Pain is an illusion of the body'. And I understand about electrical signals being sent to the brain and interpreted as pain and how these signals can misfire after trauma to the body. FYI I got up on the same side of my bed as I always do, but my body does ache more today than... yesterday. I have heard similar comments from doctors and counsellors for years and I have often asked them what real physical pain have they experienced and how long did it last for. If the duration is less than 2 years they don't know shit. If the duration is approaching 5 years then they have a clue. If the duration is greater than 10 years then they might actually know. Mine has been 15 years now and still counting. I believe Tangles would know where I am coming from.
  20. Rubbish. Pick SAU:SA up, place us in the baby Recaro driver's seat and let us drive! We can learn how to crawl, walk and run when we need to fill up with gas.
  21. My response to this thought: F__k your illusions. My pain is real. Let's see how disillusioned you are when being rammed by 1.7 tonnes of 1993 Ford Falcon at 60+kmph. Then do it again at 80+kmph with a 1968 Ford Cortina. Then again at 40kmph with a 1990s Nissan Pulsar. Then again with a 1960s VW Beetle. Then three more times for good measure, just to disillusion your mind. And I'm one of the lucky ones. People that write that shit don't know what pain and despair are.
  22. Don't sell the wheels as you may need to move it and unless you have some spare ones it is a real pain in the arse.
  23. Hi all, Some of you sports fans may be aware of the AFL Dream Team & Super Coach competitions. They are free to enter and generally have decent weekly & overall prizes - Last year DT was a choice of a new Toyota & SC was $50,000. I have started leagues in both for SAU-SA members but response has been limited so if you are keen to play join up. League codes are as follows: DT league name: SAU-SA. Code: 876845 SC league name: SAUSA. Code: 158158 My team is called Oranges@Halftime. Good luck. PS - I can change the league name as it will no longer be just people from SA.
  24. That sucks Jeremy! F__king scum messing with SAU cars this week - Dion x3 & now Jeremy. PS - feel like playing indoor on Monday night Jeremy?
  25. Princes Hwy, Rockdale.
