Creating A Dedicated Track Gtr
Fitzpatrick Speed Works replied to Duncan's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Okay on the weekend I hooked in a bit on my GTR, this is going to be a drag car but I have some interesting figures. Standard wiring loom inclusive of all computers everything= 42kg's thats massive I dont need half of that. Standard heater/blower/ climate control = 13kgs, not as much as i hoped for but when combined with aircon stuff makes a difference. HICAS system= 27kg's Standard fuel cell with pump= 12kg's Thats all I can remember off the top of my head. Duncan a dry sump system will weigh more, you have the pump which are heavy, the bracketry, the lines and fitting and the resevior. I would work on the doors and boot, and remove the rear bar reo and front as well. -
Creating A Dedicated Track Gtr

Geoff, well constructed post as per usual, nice to see intelligent conversation on an internet forum for a change. I am in no way anti r33, and stock for stock when I have driven the cars, you are right the R33 inspires more confidence when pushing the limit thus probably most drivers can get a little more out of them. However I remain loyal to the fact that a r32 will still be a better dedicated track car (thats what this thread is about) due to weight, every modification you make to either model down the line the r32 in my opinion will come out on top as it is a lighter motor vehicle, which ultimately must result in better track times. Now every here agrees that the problem with gtr's is the weight so why then are we argueing that the r33 is better if its heavier? I agree that Nissan engineers would have learnt things from the r32 and the r33 would be a more highly evolved chassis than the r32, (why would they go backwards?), but I still stand buy the comments that putting in chassis stiffening measures such as brackets no matter how strategically placed they are, to try to stiffen a chassis is not the best form from an engineering point of view...Get it that stiff in the first place without brackets. IF we start doing some serious engineering work, strategically placing brackets and stiffners on a r32 is going to result in a really good chassis then??? But as you said they are not designed as dedicated race cars in the first place. So in closing you are right Geoff I am not anti r33, sorry to come across that way, in reality I would prefere to own a r33 but when I first bought my GTR they where well beyond my price range at around $60g. However I was answering the original post, creating a dedicated track car I would always start with a lighter car especially if there is such a close comparison between the models! -
R32gtr Diff Ratio?

4.11, you can get 4.3's in gts4's. -

Roy chuck your head under a r33 GTR then chuck your head under a r33 gtst and have a look at all the feeble attempts at chassis stiffining nissan have done, you can't tell me this isn't becasue they knew that the r33 chassis was a little sloppy. I have no doubt that when you attend tracks you might see r33's going quicker but I have little doubt that this has anything to with the chassis or suspension of the different models. People in GTR's generally are weekend hero's and spend money on engine mods and making sure it has 700hp instead of tyres, wheels and suspension mods and setup thats the main problem you will encounter and this is due to the r32 gtr being so accessible to the young wannabe as compared to the more expensive 33's and 34's. Just my 2c -

Dunc, there is so much weight in the doors and the factory glass, if rules allow or whatever if you can at least save up for carbon doors and get the glass made out of lexan it will help, you can get the weight out of them. Although unrelated because its drag racing Reece mcgegors r32 is 1210KG without driver, now that is light for a GTR!!! -

put a r33 4wd computer in the r32 if thats your concern, the r33 chassis is rubbish its way softer and less rigid than the r32, from memory the r33 pulls .91g on a skid pan and the r32 pulls .95, and thats factory!!! Remember in some classes you have to run a standard computer so that rules of PFC!! Plus you can never get the r33 as light as the r32 so they are always going to be a disadvantage against a r32 set up the same. -

Nedi_ it still has six throttle bodies, and is controlled via an apexi d-jetro. -

Dont do a rb30 for NA cause you simply wont be able to rev it high enough. They are only really good to 7.5k which is heaps for a turbo but not for NA. I was talking to a guy the other day that had put a na 2j in a sprint car, it was fully worked made around 350kw and he reved the thing to 10.5k with around 13:1 comp, now this thing is mega dollars cause the valvetrain in this thing is super exotic to handle the rpm. If you are dead set on a nissan route, i would grab a rb26 whack in a 2.7 or 2.8 stocker full counterweight crank, some head work, around 12.5:1 comp and it should push out around 280kw in theory i would think! you should be able to rev an engine like that to 9.5k safely without damaging the big and and mains from harmonics!! -
My car has been broken into there and all they took was chewing gum and my parking ticket so I got a fine, bastards, they also manged to ruin my locks but I guess it could of been much worse once they realised I didnt have cd's or even a stereo they could have keyed the car etc but they were probably interupted!!! Junkies from braddon are always seen around that area and what do you think they are doing there? Trying to steal from cars. Kill them all and let god sort them out!!!haha

rb30 bottom end with a t04z, just built one for a friend it reaches full boost by 3100rpm and revs all the way to 7600 with standard cams and makes a tidy 370kw atw on only 18psi yet is very tackable and has huge amounts of low down torque. I would run a dry sump setup also and try to get 285+ size tires under the thing. Along with the other stuff people have mentioned in terms of weight and cage etc etc. That would make a killer track car!! -
Oh and as a note Jake doesnt have the software yet!
-
Jakes a really good mate of mine, but Ed will be able to achieve the results your after possibly easier and cheaper. Jake is very good but is so busy that in all honesty he doesnt take on many simple tunes anymore as he has too much work. Plus Ed has a great rep with the boys on here.

Rb25det Murder Mystery
Fitzpatrick Speed Works replied to phee's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
basic rebuild with stock stuff around $3g, it goes up from there depending on the parts you use. But my initial figure includes labor. -
The main problem you had with you excel is that it was a korean car and you failed to expect such things from such cars...excels are great until they reach 100k then its downhill from there and fast....

Rb25det Murder Mystery
Fitzpatrick Speed Works replied to phee's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Big end doesnt explain the oil smoke, nor the fact it was a little intermittent, and it wouldn't casue crank case pressure. Are you sure the dipstick was in properly from the onset of the trip. you could have not put it in properly and the oil blew everywhere then a fueling problem started as mentioned you had poor fuel in the car, and due to the coincidence you have blamed the wrong thing!!!??? -
Rb25det Murder Mystery
Fitzpatrick Speed Works replied to phee's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I dont think its nessessarily a blown piston, but it could be as the piston is letting the crank case fill with air but this isnt how it usually works. The smoke could just be oil getting onto the exhaust and burning off??? I dont think its the oil pump easy to check whind it over on a mechanical gauge and see if it build pressure?? Over filled, i doubt that too. I would be pulling the head off and checking the pistons and bore especially once you discounted things like oil surge, overfilled, turbo seals etc... Also this will check the head at the same time in a very unlikely circumstance you could have dropped a valve and this has casue pressue to casue other problems, but as mentioned I would look to having a look inside the motor!! -
Nice ride you have there, welcome to the wasteland

3.1 Ltr 1971 Gtr!
Fitzpatrick Speed Works replied to 88silhouette's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Its not a GTR. GTR's came out with the s20 twin cam engine this is simply a replica based of a gtx or similar with an l28 bored and stroked if it is indeed a 3.1l.
