  1. Only just found this thread its gold!!! Full of rubbish that in no way relates to the original topic!!! As for flow numbers here they are: Rb26 (std) Inlet: 148cfm Ex: 105cfm Rb25 (std) Inlet: 136cfm Ex: 98cfm 2JZ (std) Inlet: 139cfm Ex:121cfm 1JZ (std) Inlet: 134cfm Ex: 115cfm Thats on our own machine with our own testing measures but they are all tested in the exact same way so the data directly corilates to each other. Let the BS stop right here!!!
  2. Foolboost should still only give it around 4.5-4.7L
  3. Pics recieved looks good will contact you!
  4. Do you have anymore pics, can you please send to [email protected], mainly interested in some pics of engine bay, interior front and back etc!! Is all the suspension stock?
  5. Hey mate if you have more pics, mainly interior, engine bay any defects in the body etc... please send to [email protected]. Thanks
  6. overnight parts from japan
  7. haha! Nothing like really!! Your directing the water straight out of the head into the radiator not allowing it to gather and wait around the bottom of the head till water ahead of it is moved. plus this way increases volume and cooling effeciency as the lines can be kept away from the engine again staying cooler!! The standard sytem is ok but it has its limits and drawback the main one it was designed with cold starts and emissions in mind as well as effiecency. As we are all building race cars (haha) we can get rid of 2 parts of the equation and concentrate on the most important thing cooling of the engine in particular common rb or straight 6 problems of the back of the head heating up air bubbles in the cooling system! Cheers
  8. Thats half way there that is what the japs refere to as the gt head cooling kit, basically there is a water chanber that catches the water that circulates around the inlet manifold, there is water around this to help cold start and emmsions control on cold start. This is the highest point of the gtr cooling system and you will see a bleed valve fitted from the factory for this. The chmaber collect at three points the in the example provided they have simply removed the catch chamber and made pickup point that direct the water straight into a catch can this stops air buble ie steam whic is hoter than water building up and causing uneven cooling of the head. I would also loose the chamber on the underside of the plenum that runs forward and lets the water out of the head at the front of the head where the radiator hose connects. Lose this chamber and tap 3 dash 12 fitting in hear that go straight into you radiator in conjunction with the header tank and you will have a bloody good system!!
  9. I am not running my response off guess work, I have actually tested the oils, while our testing procedures are quite rudementary they provide real world and live feedback on how certain oils react. I will have to agree with both of you on the fact that 5-60w is stretching it a bit, and I have found through experince over the years I have never had a problem with a 10-40 in RB series engines regardless of brand this seems to be the optimal weight range for these engines. There are advantages from using slightly thicker oils in older engines as the clearances are stretched out and a thicker oil will help you control oil pressure at op temp and also lubrication qualities- that have been lost due to the ever so small capacity increases in bearing clearances! If you disagree with this why is it when i pull down a rb30 or rb26 or any rb the big ends etc are always past factory specs, will a thicker oil add to this problem or bandaid it??? My ppoint was not that when a motor gets old start using thicker oil, it was that you can get away with it without encountering the problems you might on a new engine and there are the slight advatages that might work that are mentioned above. In no way do I have the tech knowedge you guys have about oil on a chemical level, so I am not here to argue that one, just simply providing what I have learnt through using oils not just the theory behind their composition, its awesome for readers here to have both real world experience and the theory that way they can make informed desicions!! I remember a post on SDU about 6 years ago when i recomended people start using royal purple and everyone thought I was whacked, how things change when people can provide examples and experience with products!! So not having a go! As another note khunjeng you say people should spend the extra, then go longer service intervals. I am not a follower of running oils to their specs as what are these specs based, what styles of driving, what engines, what mods to those engines, half the time you can't even get the climate they are suited to etc. Believe it or not oil in a motor car actually cops the harshest treatment from the camshafts, now imagine im reving my engine 2k higher than standard, have bigger cams with longer duration and lift and much increased spring rates and seat pressure. Surely the oil wont last the same as a standard car, or the time that the specs recommend it for?? Plus oil can give you an insight to if something is wrong inside the motor, it cheap insurance to change at max every 5k in a performance car that cops a hiding as you might find something thaat can save you big dollars if you get to it early!! (metal shavings)
  10. Show me a POE that is cheaper than $90 + for 5 litres!!! Oh thats right they don't exist!!! Yes POA isn't as good but read my post, i said for the price range we have a new winner. 60W isn't to thick on a rb with over 100k on it and thats the common one i get PM'd. Cold start on oil thickness means it will run more pressure, not nessassarily damage bearings etc. People get to carried away with the cold rating, if your strapping your car when its cold then your an idiot anyway, the operational temp is the most important factor don't ever forget this. That being said a 10-40W would seem to be the most suited to the rb series engine, however as mentioned in this post motors with over 100k on them wont have a problem running a 10-50 or 5-60 for that matter. Azzura- stick with what you have it is working and will continue to if you maintain regular and low service intervals.
  11. Good man, good to see Im not the only one with this warped idea!!haha
  12. Delvac is a very good oil and always comes out good when we have tested it. Mobil is a petrol company first and foremost never forget this!!! I would always use a dedicated oil company over a fuel company. Penrite, royal purple, red line will have inconsistancy in their oils as there base oil is supplied and there are very tiny variances in the quality whereas mobil can achieve the same product everytime as they can get rid of oils that perfrom differently to their exact specs- ie sell them to another oil company, so at the very least the big company's have a good consistant product. Getting back to your comparison diff oil would simply sheer off, over heat and not perform anywhere near what some of the other oils did, you cantssay otherwise, so that is a very misleading comment!! Also keep in mind who is doing your large scale testing- their testing their own bloody product then releasing the info of course its going to be a glowing report of themselves you think they would let it be any different! Large companies like mobil shell are driven by operational costs and getting the most they can out of the cheapest products to meet the bare requirements asked of the OEM company's they supply and thats the bottom line!!
  13. Oh and as another note I have lost 2 friends at once in a car accident that involved excessive speed and it wasn't either of their fault. I have also been the recepient of a t-bone at a green light when a driver ran a red, and I have been in a serious accident where the car flipped 3 times casue my idiot mate thought he could take a 35km bend at 90km's so its not as if I don't have the experience of what can happen when people act the idiot on the road. But again drawing on an earlier point, even if excessive speed etc is involved accidents are still accidents the driver never intended the outcome!!! And the guy cleary states he learnt his lesson that all you can hope for, he doesnt need more of an ear bashing!!
  14. fat32- Not sure where you stand after that, am I to assume that casue you quoted me, you are having a go, not having a go back I just don't understand if your just saying it in regard to the original poster, thats exactly right!haha ECR033- Mate not having a go at you directly not a personal attack, im just sick of everytime there is a street racing, or raced off the lights or any speeding post people start having a go thinking they are so perfect and that they will look so cool if they denounce this behavior and all their peers will join the bandwagon and they will the popular kid cause they downcasted someone for something they have, with 99% certainty, done themselves. People don't kid yourselves no one cares what is said on an internet forum about laws except the people that have posted on it; and this is in regards to laws, infringments etc, not useful information. Your retarded if you think police constantly monitor forums to try and find hoons etc its simply not the case they dont have the resources. They might check were large gatherings are happening through the forum but not try and hunt down individuals who brag or talk about illegal car activity after the fact!!! I just feel it's not our responsibility either to look out for the kids that get on here and might read something and go and do it and something might happen- again the What IF theory, what if I was stolen by aliens???? Who really thinks that a kid is going to get on the net read a post about someone doing 140 in their line then go and do it casue some other idiot did it? If he does then there is no need to worry cause no amount of "keep it for the track "" your an idiot you don't do that on a public road" was going to deter the behavior. My point was and remains I am sick of these threads were everyone chimes in and says "you idiot you give us bad names etc" you give yourselves that- if your not doing anything you don't get in trouble and if you do get pulled over for nothing you can easily fight it!!! people getting all righteous and pretending they haven't done the exact same thing just gives me the sh..ts!! This isn't directed at anyone person in particular just commenting on the general contents of threads like this one and others like it, not personal attacks!!! Let the Flaming commence!
  15. Gary read my mind, low high boost is a waste of time in my mind just excersice control and leave the car tuned for 1 boost pressure all of the time!
  16. Oh look at me I will proove myself as such a mature and responsible adult if i get on an internet forum and tell someone else how much they wont receive anyone's sympathy and how you should leave it for the track, and I never speed or break any laws. GEZZ I am suprised some of you can see us lonely common folk all the way down in the valleys cause your perched so damn high up!!! The guy doesn't want sympathy it was just an expression on an internet forum, all you wanabe priests that never sin and never speed in your car are talkign rubbish, you own a skyline or any turbo car for that matter and you can't tell me most of the appeal of the car isn't the performance, and youve never experinced that on a road!!?? As if you guys haven't all done 40 over no matter where or when on a public road at some point... whats that you have never seen redline in 2nd on a residential public road??? Thats speeding right there, so stop all trying to give out the life lessons and trying to look so good damn righteous!!! END RANT PS I don't condone speeding, but at the same time I dont try to flame people who have made mistakes, becasue I know I have done it before and know everyone here has they are just lucky enough not to have been caught!!
  17. Also your in america I would be talking to some of the other obscure rod manufacturers like the indy car guys etc. depends on budget? guys that come to mind are oliver, manley, BME!!??
  18. Read a post I put up on the page before, I have also tested the new SIN range from penrite and it is the bomb, especially considering the price, it outperfromed Repsoil, Amsoil, royal purple, redline, fuschs, titan in our test some of these oils are the same price for 1ltr as the SIN is for 5, it is thicker though. I read that street commodores test with interest and was glad to see there results replicated our exactly and our testing is pretty agricultural in comparsion but it is testing nonetheless. Both motuls are good oils but in the comparison beef was after i didnt consider the cost as he didnt seem to care so i stand by the fact 300v is still much better than turbolite, which used to be the best oil you could get for the price, we now have a new winner!!
  19. I know all those oils I have tested them all. 300V is that different from the other 2 you have selected it leads me to believe you still need to read a little more but nonetheless it leaves the other 2 for dead!!
  20. Why are you considering Mobil have you read this thread?
  21. Crower.com I am sure you can track down eagle rods in america. Also www.hioctane.com.au or something like that they are guys based in Sydney they sell various brands, talk to Ian if you ring them. pauter.com
  22. So many high horses so little swords!!!
  23. Geez this is an old thread good to see it revived. We have conducted a heap of testing more recently again, testing in particular the SIn Penrite range and let me tell you don't overlook this stuff it shi.ts all over anything they have ever offered and competes better than some oild that were priced at double and tripple the SIN cost. Really recommend this oil its really good stuff!!
  24. We have got a PPG here straight cut except 4th and 5th which are the upgraded helicut gears. It has 400km on the box, selling for around 6.5k, paid 8.8k. Just thought i would chuck this up there incase someone was interested. As a side I don't have any problems with the OS product, I have had experience with 2 only but both had issues, this sint to say someone in AUS has had the the exact same experience with PPG, its just soemthing I have mentioned!! Cheers, Dan
  25. i'll buy your 4.3's if you want to get rid of it once youve converted!!
