Track Days In And Around Port/newcastle Area
NISMO replied to No Crust Racing's topic in New South Wales
ohhhhhhhh -
disagree - thats Nissan's museum collection. All of its history and a place where they have one of every model produced. Most of the race cars come out for special events, like the NISMO festival each year, but why would you want to ruin the rest? You can go buy an R32 GTR on every second lot on Parammatta Rd, why do you need someone to drive the exact same car, but with virtually 0 k's. The prototypes are exactly that, do you really want some clown with more money than sense writing off the only working MID-4 on the planet?

Aussie Delivered R32 Gtr's
NISMO replied to BoyWhoCriedWolf's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
One of the best posts I've seen on the topic of collectability(spelling) -
+1 8 months is a whole heap of time for a part to go from good/ok to shit, its stuffed.

Can't help, but very keen to see some replies as well. I want to change mine out for the same reasons, but the car is remaining stock so aftermarket guages are not an option for me.

Pics Of Your Car At Or On The Track
NISMO replied to hamiltonau's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
All pretty much stock as, all driven to the track, no tyre changes nothing. Pretty much the slowest out there, but i still love it! I think the most work I've ever done on a car at a track day is trying to set up a bloody GoPro camera. The N1 at Oran Park - man i miss Oran Park!! The V35 at Wakie The boat at Wakie -
Provisional Drivers To Be Banned From Driving On Friday, Saturday Nights?
NISMO replied to Berk's topic in New South Wales
Completely agree. Driving test should be split up into conditions and environments and a pass needed for each to get your liscence. There are countries around the world where you need to pass a course, not just a test, which includes First Aid, night driving rain driving etc etc. Do this and you will quickly weed out a lot of the incompetant drivers on road. Yes it will be a bit more expensive but thats also a bonus and will encourage so/so "not really sure if i want to drive so don't give a crap about learning anyhting" drivers off the road. -
Oh, and when i asked for them to provide the engine number that the car left the factory with, they said "they will only supply engine numbers to Japanese Police, with an official Police request" Seriously you'd think I'm asking them to hand over ownership of the company. Its this kind of documentation that makes the special models "official" and makes them sort after for many years to come. Without their help i think the rare cars will never make it into the mass market collectors
-
The other problem is for some reason Nissan refuse to acknowledge the importance of some of their hero cars. You've got companies all around the world who set up registers etc for any kind of slightly special model yet Nissan have nothing and its left to owners. I contacted both Nissan and NISMO to get more info on my N1, and they sent me back documentation showing specs when it left the factory, but its like they won't officially call it an "N1" (not just my car, but don't want to discuss N1's at all) They're not prepared to provide any info at all on 32 N1's in general. Its why there's so much crap on the web.

basic maintenance? Brake pad change and bleed Coolant flush Plugs change Fuel filter change Fuel pump change Brake master cylinder change yep they're pretty basic but i think a night which covers common consumeables for skylines now that they're getting a bit long on the tooth would be great. Especially for some first time owners??

Years ago before they were everywhere, I've actually been pulled over when i had my 33 to chat about the car
-
I was out there on Saturday, have over 150pics, but need about a week to sort through the crap That supra was unbelievable. Obviously has been sorted out since its days as it used to be a mid-field runner at best. Last race on saturday had the Supra and Terry in the Winfiedl GTR battling it out lap after lap with some awesome drag racing down the straight. Was amazing seeing the supra get better drive out of the last turn, but then the GTR would just keep pulling away down the straight. Can't wait till next year, the best motorposrt event in Sydney each year, well maybe equal with superlap

Your N1 is what my N1 wants to be when it grows up!!! N1's aside, i reckon your 32 is the best that i can remember to come out of Aus. Stunning!!!
-
Nothing new, but found some pics of when my N1 was shot for a Daily Telegraph article

It really all comes down to how you treat the car. you take any mass produced production street car and abuse it the way some GTR's are abused and you get the same end result. Regardless of general perception, they are not an out of the box race prepped track car designed to be bounced off the rev limiter all day every day. I've taken my stock 32 to a fair few track days, but given i know its stock, i don't wait to the red line for every gear change. And it hasn't missed a beat. Spun bearings do tend to be a theme, but again you would be hard pressed to find a GTR that has spun a bearing from just "spirited driving" I also agree with what someone has posted about buying a car with an engine already rebuilt. Especially if you can verify the build. They are so cheap these days you would be nuts buying a mildly modded stocker unless it was something really special.

another +1 for a car from the for sale section here. The biggie for me is usually a quick search on the seller's user name will bring up a bit about the history of the car if he/she has been a member for a while. You can generally find out if they've had any problems, what activites they do in the car, what repairs may have been done, what workshops they go to etc etc. eg if someone is selling their car and you search their name and it comes up with "just blew my 5th clutch in 2 months cause i can't get my 9000rpm launch's right" its probably a car that has had a hard life This place is a goldmine when trying to ascertain the history of a car. Oh, and welcome, SAU (esp NSW)is like the Hotel California, check out anytime you like, but you will never leave!!

brake fluid is a good idea as well as clutch fluid. Both extrememly easy to do, just need a helper to assist with bleeding. If you really want to get into it, depending on condition, getting a rebuild kit for your callipers is not to expensive Also agree with radiator flush. Not too expensive to get done properly. Basically any fluid/filter you can do is a good idea, simply because you don't know the last time it was done.

If it's every weekend then not a big deal. Mine is lucky to be driven once every month or two so keep the tank full. All car storage advice says to keep it full as the tank can rust if sitting empty for long periods and condensation will also build diluting the fuel. Keeping it full prevents both.

R33 Autec Gtr!
NISMO replied to West's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Personally, love the Autech 33 GTR's, and besides ticking all of your other 12 points, it also ticks another one for me, extremely unique and different I love chasers but they're way too docile looking, and i'm not a big bodykit kinda guy. That aside, are 33 Autech's even eligiable for import into Aus? -
There's over $60k in the Bentley's bumper alone!!
