In Car Footage: Calsonic R32 Gtr (18min Long)
NISMO replied to lang's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
If you can get your hands on the Japan GT or the old JGTC DVD's. The ones I have covered 2 rounds each from a few years back, and you get heaps of extras like incar footage from several cars doing flying laps while racing with no commentary. The R34 GTR's are insane! Sound awesome and look extremely violent to drive. -
V35 350gt Coupe Compliance
NISMO replied to NISMO's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
The only must have at this stage is 6sp manual, and Brembo's. Colour, for now is first Black, then white. But I'm too impatient so might have to settle for Silver. Auction grade of at least 4.5 I originally wanted a Premium for the Bose, and Sat Nav, but I've heard that the Bose is not the best, and know that Sat Nav does jack all here, so not too fussed there. Yeah, I've been on G35 Driver for over a year now. Those yanks make me laugh some times. :-) Love how they refer to beating someone in a traffic light drag as "Kill Stories" -

V35 350gt Coupe Compliance
NISMO replied to NISMO's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Thanks DRIFT, I think I may take that route, and sign the stat dec. Makes no sense to hand over perfectly usable tires. I'll see how I go with the compliance workshop I end up choosing and take it from there. I've got no issue with paying $150-$200 if that allows me to keep the Xenons. Much cheeper than any other option. I may be in touch once the car is here to get more info on the mod to H1 if I have any probs. Cheers Bobby -
V35 350gt Coupe Compliance
NISMO replied to NISMO's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
i'm gonna pop into a few complaince places on the weekend to have a chat and see what my options are. At the end of the day, would love to keep them and as said will do anything I can to do so, but I'm not about to spend thousands to do so. I think the money will be better spent on other parts of the car. -
V35 350gt Coupe Compliance
NISMO replied to NISMO's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Mate, I'll be doing everything in my power to keep them. If I can't get around it, I'll probably go down the road of custom fiting halogens before the car goes to complaince and then popping the xenons in once I get teh car home. I've seen a few headlights on Yahoo Auctions Japan, so I'll see what they go for, and if i get the car for cheaper then what I'm expecting this may be an option. Do you think dealers that sell V35's will let me borrow the headlights for a fee? May be worth a try? -
V35 350gt Coupe Compliance
NISMO replied to NISMO's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Spoke to SSPI and price and service seem excellent, but as part of complaince they destroy the Xenons. If I find an already converted pair I can put them on for complaince and then swap back I suppose, but don't think finding V35 Coupe headlights is gonna be easy. :-( -

I Thought Vq Engines Were Hard To Turbo?
NISMO replied to lingeringsoul's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
deleted - pointless :-) -
I've been looking for an exhaust for a V35 Coupe, and came across the HKS Hi Power Ti. Absouletly awesome sound. I suspect it will be quite different on an RB compared to a VQ, but if the same basic sound is there go for it. It's got this awesome high pitched growl that you'd expect from a supercar. Jump on You Tube and type in G35 Coupe HKS Exhaust, you'll get a few recording of yanks jumping on the loud pedal. Haven't checked but I think I heard HKS may have sound files on their website.

Chris, why would the AC controls need to be changed? Non Nav 350GT's have exactly the same AC controls and the screen used is higher up where the smaller elongated screen is. I've seen pics of 350GT's and I'm sure the pics of what the AC is doing is up on this small screen and not the Sat-Nav screen. Very interested as I'm sourcing a 350 right now in Japan. I'm yet to speak to nissan, but was also thinking of the Patrol unit. Other than that, is there any aftermarket DVD/TV/SAT combos that can be used? If the SAT NAV screen has nothing to do with the AC, I was thinking of putting in a new all in one system which can sit in the glove box, and display on the factory screen? No idea though, just thinking. **EDIT** just looked at some pics, and I can't seem to see any with the Sat Nav that has AC display on the smaller higher up display I was talking about. SOOO, could you not hook up the Ac to the display up top like in the non SAT NAV cars, and then custom fit a new SAT NAV into the pop up screen section? Again no idea, just typing as I think :-) Cheers Bobby

Has anyone looked into if you can use components out of the current Aus patrol to get the Navi/Screen working in the V35?
-
I've got someone currently looking for a V35 Coupe for me in Japan, if it arrives in time might be interested. Hopefully if the price is right should have the Ing+1 kit on it as well. (fingers crossed)

If it was a 6spd, I'd be banging you door down right now :-) By the looks of it, that a 70th anniversary edition, correct?

Good point. I went down the house road 4 years ago, sold the skyline and put everything into it. Lived this way for a few years and thought wasn't worth it, so sold up, took the profits, am now building a smaller house, looking for my GTR :-), and planning a nice long holiday. With the benefit of hindsight, doing it tough for a few years was worth it my case. Personally I think property can work short term in the right area at the right time. A friend did the same a year after me, and beacuse the bottom has fallen out here in sydney, his house is now valued at over 100k less than what he paid for it. If your looking for security, a way to go may be defence housing. You buy the place and the defence department rents it back, guranteeing rent for set period you agree on. They even have 10yr agreements where regardless if it's being used, you get your rent every single week for 10 yrs. They also do all the maintenance as well. check prices in the area though cause i'm guessing they probably inflate them a little.

Man, haven't been this excited since i first heard my car go psssssshhhhewww! (blow off valve in case i spelt it wrong :-) as a Skyline fan, I enjoyed the fact that previous GTR's could hold their own against much more expensive exotics, and the fact that so far the idications are that the GTR will do this again, has put a big smile on my face.
-
Doubt they'll use it in a pursiut, stritcly a community liason thing. Weatherill Park police have rex (could be an sti), that they use and you'd be suprised at the amount of "hoons" who go up and have a chat to cops when they park the thing where "hoons" gather. Pretty good idea i think. And, the police force definately don't pay for the cars, they're loaners. I know of one case, where Mazda, gave a station a brand new 6 MPS, and it was t-boned in a week :-)

Posted this in the next Skyline section but fits in here as well. The new GTR around Laguna Seca, up against 911TT, and the guys filming hand timed the GTR going around quicker. Also seen a shot from the same people, but couldn't see it in the article which shows a twin turbo engine with paddle shift gearbox. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Gener...rticleId=119632
-
Well, looks like the debate is over. Engine and interior pics suggest twin turbo, paddle shift. Enjoy http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Gener...rticleId=119632

Keep an eye on the below link, can't wait for the pics The GTR spotted at Laguna Seca raceway, handing a 911 turbo it's arse! "My buddy works for Skip Barber and they were all blown away with this thing on the track! He couldn't believe how quick it was going around the track! It looked fast to me, but they see exotics out there all the time and they have a lot of respect for the Porsche....But he said "It was spanking the Porsche TT!!!" http://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140228
