  1. Beware - the R34 turbo has a nylon compressor wheel & is more prone to overboosting damage than the 33 turbo. GCG rebuilt an HKS BB turbo for me for $800 with new o/s bearings & seals plus VSR balancing to better than Garrett specs. You get what you pay for !
  2. Hi Beefy, "welcome to the desert of the real". Panel beaters are not to be trusted. cubed. I too have had a similar experience, it's very difficult to prove anything. I know that doesn't help you much...I can only offer advice to others who need to leave their cars at the panelbeaters/tinters/tyre joint etc. If you have a powerFC, set the rev limit REAL low & pull the handset. Guaranteed spoiler for would be joyriders. I feel your pain man !
  3. PITA rating = 10 unless you have a 2 or 4 post hoist, bigass trolley jack(s), solid lengths of hardwood, torque wrench & clutch alignment tool. I think (?) rev210 did an ECR33 clutch (being a keen DIYer like myself) and in hindsight would have much rather paid someone else to do it. Absolute bastard job without proper workshop equipment. If you value your sanity cough up the $300, if you're a true masochist - go for it :headspin:
  4. Check my thread in DIY section, Bear. You should be able to scam the plugs for nuttin'.
  5. Just don't preload it. ie no tension. Remove strut top nuts, locate bar, tighten nuts, done. The easiest mod you will ever perform & great bang4buck.
  6. A friend of mine (Barry) watched his beloved Zed burn to the ground on the roadside just south of Byron Bay (drove from Syd). So, yes - they are well & truly prone to overheating issues. Having said that, Boosted Zed regularly flogs his on NSW tracks & records some very impressive times. He also knows Skylines inside out. I would suggest you chat with him & determine your best & worst case scenarios before drawing any conclusions. Ummmkay ?
  7. Engineering supplies such as Blackwoods, Purple Pig etc. No digital camera = no photos, hence the sketch.
  8. Cool. All good in the 'hood. I work mental hours so 2am is a good time 4 me. Thx for the explanation.
  9. Thanks Jimbo, A steel Mason jar (which typically would have had coffee in it) or a shellite fuel canister (from camping & disposal stores) can also be used for an even simpler & cheaper solution. I forgot to mention: a wise man would have a bead rolled into both pipe ends as a security measure. Happy constructing DIYers. Stay tuned for "Save $$$ on custom mandrel bent tubing"
  10. Well, it all works in theory, ie I get the "thank you for posting, you will now be directed...." message but I'm not. I am returned to the DIY section, & my thread doesn't show as a new post. The only confirmation I get is in UserCP where an uploaded attachment is registered. that was 2am yesterday. This morning the new thread is up. So it would appear the bug is more a delay than anything. Does that shed some light ?
  11. Jim do yourself a favour, check my thread in the DIY section with pinouts etc for the AFM. You will know straight up whether it's the meter or loom/ecu. Must have been music to your ears to at least hear it turn over !
  12. Yeah, what's the spring rate, my man ?? If it's a .9 bar actuator, I'm keen
  13. Yes I have had issues with the two threads I've started in DIY/FAQ section, as stated above. Makes no difference whether I use IE or Opera (preferred). Ummmkay ?
  14. Hi Guys, As I posted in another thread, I have yet to see a commercial PCV type oil/air seperator that is functionally or financially superior to the design outlined below. If you can operate a drill, know someone who can weld & have an irrigation supply shop nearby you can build this for around a quarter of the cost of commercial units. Plus it looks just as good & is far more satisfying. Enjoy.
  15. Hi Paul, SkylineGeoff has HICAS lock bars for ECR33 for $100. How could you go wrong ?
  16. Hi guys, I am yet to see a commercially produced oil/air seperator as functionally or financially viable as the one outlined below. Very easy for the keen DIYer provided you can operate a drill & know someone who can weld. I think I'll post my design in the DIY section. Enjoy, & spend your hard earned dosh elsewhere Please excuse my lame-ass sketching.
  17. News from South Korea: Daewoo Heavy Industries passenger vehicle division expressed its intention to further bolster it's positioning in the Australian marketplace with the announcement of a new high performance sedan targeted directly at HSV. Daewoo CEO, Kim Joong Park stated in a press conference earlier today "Daewoo recognizes the achievements of Holden over the last few years to enter markets traditionally dominated by European and Japanese manufacturers, such as the American & Saudi markets." " To this end, Daewoo as a global player will take HSV on at their own game in their own country." Bold words indeed from a company with a history in ship & industrial machinery manufacture. Mr Kim was also heard to mutter "Kimchi is good, but I really drop my bundle for some Bulgogi". See the attached press release picture for details.

  19. Hi Jezza, it depends on your car. If your car needs a PUSH type clutch, they're good. If your car needs a PULL type clutch, they're a bastard. I have a GDpro which is push type (BNR32 & ECR33) & I love it. They are economical to rebuild compared to most others. Greenline sell the rebuild kits for about $500. If you decide to purchase I strongly recommend you have the flywheel balanced before fitting to eliminate any nasty harmonics. hope that helps ya Bud !
  20. Hi Jim, Are you using a stock ECU or aftermarket ? Are you using a stock AFM or Z32 ? Have you performed an ECU diagnostic test for error codes ? I have a Z32 AFM on the RB25 & it won't start with stock ECU due to it's lower voltage output. So i run an A'pexi PowerFC, which allows the user to select different AFM's in the "airflow" menu. Also are you running a stock fuel pump ? I need to prime my GTR pump (without anti-drain valve) 3 times before I have enough pressure to turn it over. Otherwise it just won't play the game. As stated above, I would definitely drain the tank & refill. You can buy 100 octane gasoline Stateside, right ? If everything else is OK, it should at least turn over. Good luck with it.
  21. 1. Fuel consumption ( a given in any perf. car) 2. Inadequacy of stock injectors plus total biatch to change them. 3. Rattly/loose windows (affects all skylines, so I'm told). 4. Problematic stock AFM 5. That latex shit on dash fascia & drivers door insert (peels on sight) 6. Propensity for un-insulated exhaust to melt aircon drain tube resulting in coolant saturated interior. 7. Ridiculous number of P platers with FulsikIswearOnMySimCardBro 20" chrome wheels & white leather interiors who think they own the streets, giving true enthusiasts a bad rep. 8. Ubiquitous, Ubiquitous, Ubiquitous. 9. Acres of bland grey plastic confronting the passenger. 10. Huge C pillars don't give the best rear view. 11. Glove box capacity is lame. But I love it just the same.
  22. Kakimoto N-GT 17" x 9" Gunmetal ??
  23. Matey do they have any other cars that need return-to-stock compliancing ? Sign me up !!:headspin:
  24. Hi Carlo, couple of Q's please... What vehicle are you doing this work to ? What width & diameter of wheel do you wish to fit ? Reason I ask is I would love to fit 17"x 9" wheels f&r to an ECR33. But they well & truly protrude beyond the front guards. is rolling/reshaping an option, or do I need GTR/aftermarket guards ??? good thread, very interesting. Thanks for your help
  25. BARGAIN ! Grab that gear with both hands NOW. Even if you never fit it, you could flog the gear & double your dosh. Good used suspension alone will net you $1000-1500, as for the rest - it's fairly desirable kit. Ummmkay ?
