  1. Two40, Just out of curiosity, does your Famous policy cover you as a daily driver, or is it "weekend only" like Shannon's ? I'm in Sydney, rating 1 (70% NCB), low-risk postcode, over 30 & my best quote has been $2100 from Suncorp-Metway - and the car is totally stock !! Also do they have the "10yr old" clause - where if your car is more than 10yo whilst under the policy, said policy then becomes null & void ? (beware of this trap !). Forgive my interrogative style, but usually when something appears too good to be true it often is. Cheers.

    Jeeps are gay

Worst thing 'bout cherokees is their retained value - or lack of it. You'd be nuts to buy a new one - a lot of ppl lease them. As for 4wd'ers. I saw a Lotus Exige on the road the other day - one of the most desirable vehicles to see in the flesh & this tosspot in a ford exploder saw this guy in his rearview winding it up & at the last minute changed lanes & cut him off. I flipped him off & he gave that "what what I'm innocent " look... Yeah right, Bud. Didn't like it when I mentioned "Exploder" hahaha. Performance Car owners & 4wd'ers - can't see eye to eye when they sit 5 feet off the road !
  3. Like the guy in the movie says: "Gojira....Goojira" Fuel consumption ? Depends on you right foot. You can get reasonable economy...but you'll be robbing y'self of fun. WRX is not in the same league. go the GTR !!
  4. Soldering Iron ? Cable ? Imagination ? On 2nd thought maybe I should be the first kid on the block to have one...
  5. Hey INASNT, Why don't you go full sick & build it into the sun visor ? (or make a new visor & flush mount it). That way it's concealed when parked ( thieves just lurrrrve rice) & sooooo trick..flip it down, flip it up. You'd be the first kid on the block to have it. Just an Idea....
  6. Do a search for "Z32". this has been posted about many times before. Unless you're going for big, big power, (400hp+) spend your dosh elsewhere. IMHO you should check out rev210's sticky threads in the performance section if you want to get the most from your Skyline.
  7. Short answer: all of the above. O2 sensor provides data to the ECU which then makes corrections to theair/fuel ratio based on that data - essential to keep the vehicle in tune. You should be pleasantly surprised !
  8. Hippy, Bit off topic, but the jack is std scissor type. Get from ANY wrecker. If they want more than 5 bucks, go elsewhere !!
  9. Hey Hotsky, Not many progz will decode Quicktime. Acid Pro4.0 has an mpeg decoder that will do it. big download (around 40 meg from hosed out memory). does the job easy but can take ages on slower hardware.
  10. WazR, check this thread - could lead to the answer you're looking for. Good luck. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...workshop+manual
  11. check the link. Sorry I don't have the answer you're looking for, but someone here or at SDU must know what's at the other end of the mysterious wire 53... http://www.powerlink.co.nz/~graeme/faq/index.html
  12. Hi Jet, Can you help with these two items ? 1. Relay box cover 2. toolbag (pref.complete). Cheers bud.
  13. Hi Vendetta, I'm seeking two simple items 1. Relay box cover 2. toolbag (pref. complete). Can you help with these ? Ta.
  14. Hey MotoX, Expanders are easy. Just one wire to connect to +12v(red), plug antenna in one end & connect the other end to your radio. Done ! Any good car radio joint should have these. See pic.

  16. Hi Y'all, Just saw an ad on the telly for "Today Tonight" (ch.7). One item mentioned was a device which claims fuel savings of 27% and looked very much like a fuel cat. I'll be watching this tonight with interest !!
  17. Good point , Steve From my experience the correction in A/F ratios is subtle compared to a say a programmable ECU or interceptor tuned for a few more herbs, and only if it's required. As for highly tuned vehicles I couldn't tell you. When I enquired about an appropriate unit for the BigDatto, they posted back this of particular interest: sounds good to me, but then I plan to keep the stock turbo...
  18. Correct. Tin, being a soft metal like lead will prevent VSR in "old tech-valve & seat" engines without the toxicity of lead. A Very Good Thing. The classic & collector crowd have been using fuel cats for yonks - fit & forget. They work just as well on modern hi-tech donks. My old man had a Morgan +8, a tarmac rally Mini & a concours Cooper S... and fitted fuel cats to all of them. Thay made more power on ULP than leaded with no engine mods + reduced fuel consumption. How many performance mods actually pay you back ???
  19. Enrico, I've had fuel catalysts installed on two different cars - yes they work, just as claimed. They lean out mixtures, as tested on a dyno with EGO probe, decoke the engine, as evidenced by oil that goes black as sh1t after 700-1000k's after fitting, better throttle response and economy + reduced emmissions. Fuelstar's website now has links to before/after dyno charts, and the tuner had the sensibility to measure intake temps to compensate for any associated power gains/losses. Of particular interest is the XR6 ute, due to the timeline of runs and esp. the 180SX which has the same dip in the power curve that we've ALL seen on Skylines - right as the cams "come on" in kicks the knock sensor. Fuel catalysts fix this without ECU adjustment. Powdered tin was issued to GI's in WWII, so they could use contaminated or very poor fuel in practically any internal combustion engine - so yeah they work and it's nothing new... Sorry to rave - a fuel cat will pay for itself in petrol savings within a year if you drive regularly - you even be able to use lower octane fuel. I will soon fit one to the BigDatto and publish the results over a 10,000k period. http://www.fuelstar.com/whatsnew.html again, NOT a gimmick. Hope this adds, etc.
  20. There is a similar thread going round these forums... Someone posted that a toyota dash pocket fits a1 - about $5 from a toyota wrecker. Failing that, the pocket from a pulsar fits a1 as well. Should be able to get one from just about any wrecker. don't get stung on a new part !!
  21. The link you provided also supply the infamous "Surbo" a known fraud. There's no evidence of any research or studies on how this spark thing actually works & it would appear a good name associated with carburettors is being used in a thinly veiled attempt to establish credibility for a product that has no sound basis - or even explanation - as to how & why it should work... ???? If you want something easy, cost effective that will improve performance and economy, try a tin-based fuel catalyst. these things most definitely work as claimed, regardless of whether you have any other mods. I'm surprised the motor show organisers let these people in !!
  22. No ricey/SikHabib bonnet vents for me !! There's a 3" super-smooth-interior flexible duct that that feeds from the spotlight hole in the bar, then seals in the box. Only one wide radius bend. Much better top end & esp. throttle response and quieter than the factory box. - stealthy, not ricey.
  23. go to http://mobile.box.sk/utilities.php3 Links to firmware upgrades & hacking utils if you're game to do it yourself.
  24. Oh, BTW are the KEF's High passed ?? This can make a substantial difference - otherwise your amp will be sending low frequency signals to speakers that simply can't reproduce them - robbing you of headroom and SPL. it's just a thought.......'cos 100w should be able to shift air even if they're 86 - 87dB @1w@1m.
  25. More powerful amps or more efficient speakers ? Sounds like a smart plan...
