Hey Lowlux, Check this thread http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...=SERVICE+MANUAL A couple of guys (Carlo & Jamezilla) have posted that they have workshop manuals for R33 chassis. This would surely list torque settings for the cam cap bolts. I'm sure they'd be glad to help. The best way to get TDC is turn the crank 'til the timing mark on the crank pulley matches TDC on the scale. ( where your mechanic points his timing strobe).

Maybe when I win Lotto ?? Awesome decks: 8v pre-out, yes 8 volt. Low impedance balanced AND unbalanced outputs. Can switch the display off completely. ( this makes a difference in SQL). These sort of features are usually reserved for top-shelf Hi-Fi components, particularly the balanced output. Anyone know how much these puppies cost ??? http://www.eclipse-web.com.au/nf_top.html

Thanks eliter, Haven't installed a deck in about 4 yrs, my above post was all from memory recall & well.... you know what THC does to your long term memory, at least I hope you do 'cos I forgot ...

Yeah Qiuktrak rocks. I had an interview at their HO in Lindfield about 3 yrs ago. Their monitoring centre is (was) in an old bank vault and the technology within is very impressive. It was cool to see how it works from the inside. They've gone public since...Damn I wish I'd bought shares ! If your car's nicked, they can trace it to within 2 or 3 metres, & as the fuzz close in they can remotely lock the doors & kill the motor... TRAPPED !! BTW you can't register (or is it insure ?) a new WRX in Sydney unless it's fitted with QuikTrak. What does that tell you ?? The $$ you were considering spending on aftermarket warranty would be much better directed toward security. My two shillings.

I have had a negative experience with extended aftermarket warranty. I won't slander the company - don't need a lawsuit right now, but they're better known for making oil/fuel additives that you buy in servos & auto shops. Many years ago I bought a used EA Falcon - now regarded as one of the greatest lemons of all time...ahhh the wisdom of hindsight. within 3 months blew the head gasket, rooted radiator and stuffed ECU (about $900 just for ECU!). anyway the warranty wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. Realistically it only covered engine internals. RB sixes are super-tough. the biggest cause of engine destruction is detonation & would be evidenced on strip-down - negating your warranty. Aftermarket extended warranties are a cash-cow & a good candidate for A Current Affair. My Tuppence.

I have a s1 R33 factory fitted with "Kenwood Cruising" system (premier dealer option) with a kenwood amp in the boot ( unfinished alloy casting). so I guess it depends on what box was ticked at the dealership as to what goodies may be in the boot.

You need either a multimeter or continuity indicator & pen and paper - this is essential. 8 of the wires in the cars loom are for speakers. don't worry about them for now. From the factory loom, using your meter: you'll need to ID a constant 12v source - connect to (RED wire) on your deck and a 12v ignition switched source (ie 12v only when key turned) connect to (YELLOW wire) ( usually) on your deck for ground, you can use the wire in the loom, or attach it to the vehicles chassis. If you're planning on adding amps at any stage...ground it to the chassis & ground your amp(s) at the same point (star earthing). this helps keep unwanted noise out. connect (BLACK wire) on your deck. Suss the power antenna cable & connect to the app. cable in your deck's loom. So now you've written down what cables go where. Disconnect the (-) terminal from the battery and solder or join these wires. Reconnect the battery, you should have vital signs on the deck. Then you'll have to work out the speaker wiring. this is best achieved with a AA or similar battery. They're generally grouped together & 4 will be black (with individual coloured traces) connect a black wire to the batt(-) and its suspected partner to the (+). if you hear a pop, congrats you've found a speaker. do this for the other 3 speakers, record what goes where & solder or join. Yes, you can use bullet or similar connections, but if you can get hold of a soldering iron you'll never have grief with your installation. It's enough of a pain installing it the first time !! Hope this helps.

Yep, the Kakimoto's a top exhaust if you don't want in cabin drones or resonances - and i agree it looks filth. Perfect Run sell 'em but check the shipping cost.

You could mount one on either side of the rear guards for the ultimate "jet-propelled" rice look. Necks would creak in Chinatown/Cabramatta or wherever Riceville is in melb ;-)

R33 Series 1 (Non-Airbag) Plastic horn button
BigDatto replied to CanberraR33's topic in Wanted to Buy
I am also seeking the white plastic moulding from '33 s1 wheel. They seem to become very brittle over time. ( it's in about 30 pieces !) keen to purchase ASAP. -
a5h, I think I know the place you mean - right next to the vet clinic ? Ironic that his fuel supplier is Caltex, and less than 20 metres away Caltex are charging 5-10c more.. I've seen some nasty acco's at that intersection from ppl queuing in the driveway. If this is the place, you must live REAL close to me. P.S. anyone know Caltex's policy on aromatic HC's or other additives ?

Do we need a Skyline Owners' "Book"?
BigDatto replied to T0nyGTSt's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Go get 'em boys & girls.... the wait is over http://www.jpnz.co.nz/manuals.html BTW, I have a full set of papers and I mean FULL. Things like owners manual (R33), dealer warranty card, RWC, rego papers, Rego label (unpeeled), Puretron manual, service book with all coupons, about 30 or 40 receipts for everything but fuel, stickers (unpeeled), etc, etc all in the original plastic gatefold complete with the Dealers business card & photo ! the dealership was Nissan Prince in ***uoka (Kyushu). I'm led to believe that it's ultra-rare to get all papers with Jap imports - True or False ? Is there anyone in these forums who can translate written nihongo ??? I can scan and email any of this for anyone who can assist. I would be more than happy to share this treasure trove with all who are intersted if we can get it translated.... -
Good timing, WineRed ! W/S manual has just been translated. Here's the link http://www.jpnz.co.nz Also try www.power-integration.com for some cool tech stuff and www.meggala.com of course ! Download the book "The Sky Is The Limit" as well, It gives factory ECU diagnostics, paint/colour codes and other cool as sh1t..
