Gay Little Motorised Spoiler
BigDatto replied to 7yphon's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yes, ECR33 S1 had it as a dealer option. Not with the Spec M bar. Nissan called it "GT Spoiler", as someone else posted it can be manually lowered with handbrake applied for cleaning. -
Power Steering Noises......
BigDatto replied to Zebbie's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Turning lock-to-lock is the way to bleed it, but first raise the front of the vehicle on stands. Doing this with tyres on the ground, vehicle stationary is a great way to kill the PS pump. Nigel is spot on check the hose clamps at the base of the reservoir, they tend to come loose on their own, it happenend to me with both skylines. -
I paid $795 inc GST for a GT2530 rebuild april last year, from GCG. Full rebuild inc new CHRA (old wheels though), new seals, testing & adjustment of WG actuator, O/S bearings, new fasteners,VSR balancing, gaskets, machining of turbine inlet, rustproof coating on the steel bits & flash looking coating on the compressor. Probably did a lot more as well. Basically looks newer than a new one, and I'm sure the CHRA balancing is better than Garrett specs. It will cost more if the wheels(s) have contacted the housing(s).

Good news. If you want to setup your friends PS2 the same, just copy the data from your memcard to theirs & it'll work with the same PSX disc. Sweet !! -

So, did you get it going ??? -
Wow ! So many differing opinions. I have always used genuine Ritek media, reported by Alcohol 120% as RITEKG05. I have not had a failure in over 600 burns. As someone else mentioned they rock with game consoles. Hippy has a very valid point: hardware is the key factor. I also have a Pioneer unit (DVR108). I choose Ritek G05 media because Pioneer recommend it, which means they test & develop with Ritek media. As a bonus the Pioneer will burn 8x rated Riteks at 12x with factory firmware. I have never had an issue duplicating any DVDR using UltraISO to make an image then burning the .ISO with Nero/Alcohol/DVDDecrypter. So... use the discs the hardware manufacturer recommends. The best media is the one they test & develop with. Riteks cost me $23 per 50 from MSY. I always use -R for max compatibility with all devices. M'kay ?

Sounds like you're doing everything right. Did you place a dummy file (50-100meg) in the disc image ? Ps2 might not be able to read the disc if the image is too small. I've experienced problems with some media also. $ony CDR's just won't read at all, surprise surprise. I still advise you to get the Ausdigital compiler. It works faultlessly every time. Patience will reward you, Jedi. -

Hey Guys, I have a Blitz TwinSBC boost controller for sale. This is the oldskool blitz unit with the better dual solenoid valve. Very much like the old Profec B - only three adjustments, Low boost, High boost & gain (ramp rate). Works flawlessly with ALL turbo setups, as there's no "fuzzy logic" mullarkey that can't learn how your ultra responsive ceramic turbo behaves. Just rock solid fast ramping boost control. Comes complete with all wiring & vacuum lines, tee piece, solenoid, "brainbox" and easily concealed headunit. Reason for sale: Bought a PowerFC BCK from Steve, so surplus to my needs. (+ don't have a turbo anymore, according to new look SAU) $200 firm, local buyer preferred. Please email or PM. [email protected]

Quick bug report. There's no way I've made 400+ posts, as per my migrated-from-Vbulletin stats, & nobody pinched my turbo overnight (says RB25DE, Where's the T ?) Not that It makes any difference to me, but I'm reporting out of courtesy, FYI. EDIT: looks like everyone lost turbos, will gladly trade excess posts.

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DVD_Decrypter.htm If you're told you need DVD Decrypter, chances are the game in question is dual-layer (DVD9). Just a heads-up, not all burners support dual layer & the media is pricey. Is the image file more than 4.3gB ?

If you want to play the latest games (DX9.0b, DX9.0c) I can personally recommend an ATI 9600XT card. 128mB will perform faster than 256mB, on the other hand I get just as good frame rates from a GeForce 4ti, if you don't care about the latest superbling visual effects. I'm sure you could find some old stock somewhere real cheap. The GeForce 4Ti will walk all over the two cards you mentioned on DX8 & DX7 games, BUT you really do need to spend more if you want decent frame rates with HL2, Doom 3, BIA, FarCry etc. www.msy.com.au seems to be the cheapest in Sydney.

I agree Nick. I have GT4 & Forza & IMHO Forza is the better of the two. GT4 is truly an epic game, but there are so many options & so many choices that it puts me off, whereas Forza is just unputdownable & addictive. I'm 70% thru the game - hanging for the sequel. Biggest challenge so far has been the AC Cobra series event. I just can't drive the bastard on crossply tyres !

If you've got good bandwidth sign up for a good news server & smash Usenet. I get 500-700k in the binary newsgroups. A good server will cost $USD 10-15 per month, but its leech heaven. Bittorrent/Fast Track et al ain't what it used to be, Usenet just gets better...

Jimbo, I would tweak the laser first, if that fails replace it. http://www.i-hacked.com/content/view/79/85/ the HDLoader path works for me, I CBF rummaging thru a bunch of discs to find the game I want. Much easier to select it from a list. I can boot all games that are HDloader incompatible using another mem card app, CogSwap Loader. Works just like SwapMagic (google that one too), plus a bunch of other cool apps rather than just games. All it costs is a network adaptor + HDD. I refuse to pay for HDadvance, I have no issue downloading a hack version - the code was blatantly stolen from the original author to make $$ and all the updated code from enthusiasts in forums like this was FURTHER stolen aka HDAdvance 2.0 & 2.1 On the other hand, a modchip will boot unsigned code & all backups (of course you own the original), so just stick the disc in, away you go. The other modchip benefit is PSX backups & all region DVD support. the criteria to decide which path to take would be: Do I want to play DVD's from all regions & PSX games, how important is this to me ? It's the only thing HDL/HDA + CogSwap won't do that a modchip will. Of course both is best !! Ben, Head on over to the Austech.Info forums, there's an Australia-wide installers directory. Be sure to have a v12 laser mod installed as well as the chip if you want it to last more than a few months. Hope that helps you out, Lads. Cheers for now.

Keep your old one, the slims have issues with the laser burning out prematurely plus no expansion bay for a hard disk. If you HDLoader it as per the HDLoader thread you won't need the laser repaired anyways. The new ps2 is a repeat of what $ony did with the PlayStation when it neared the end of it's life. They released the PSOne (which was a bucket o crud) to inject some life & extra sales to a doomed console by making it smaller & sexier... and less reliable. That's the truth $ony don't want us to know.

alt.binaries.cd.image alt.binaries.games alt.binaries.games.encrypted are some goodies that should keep you busy for a while. Just scroll thru the alt.binaries.*list, look for the ones with lots of posts (10's of 1000's) they're the ones with all the goodness. you will definitely want a program called QuickPar to repair damaged archives. Makes broadband worthwhile eh ?

Beauie is on the right track leeching from Usenet. Get a good leech prog like Newsleecher, sign up for a news server (most are USD $10 or less p/m) & leech some binaries @ 700kB/s. You'll be downloading video faster than you can watch it.
