  1. JUST BUY IT.. looks really nice!!.. good condition.. don't know about the price though..
  2. Got a thumbs up from somone this morning - and returned it - in artarmon @ intersection of Bunnings.. CQ-19** something like that.. think it was a green R33..
  3. JEEPERS adam.. diggin up an OLD thread.. but now that it's back.. lets see what Bass says about the results..
  4. every ~5,000 or 6 months.. depending how i've been driving.. I only do 10k km's a year.. so it's easy!!..
  5. a) get an aftermarket oil pressure gauge.. b) was it after you'd been thrashing it and just stopped suddenly - e.g. @ the lights.. i'd suggest checking the pressure with a new gauge.. I doubt that the oil is a problem.. what type of 4100 did you put in e.g. viscosity.. alot of people here run 300V and 8100 without any issues, including myself..
  6. * goes to get popcorn *.. Sooo.. munch munch.. whats going on here.. Anyways - I believe that the GTR's run the same boost on both turbos, and as they both have an actuator plumbed directly off the compressor - they are both running the same boost which is i'm guessing 10psi each or whatever by default anyways.. with this heat, I would have thought it's probably good to keep the temps down anyways so maybe run 12psi.. spend a bit of money getting the cam's tuned.. and you should have a good summer.. Out of interest will the ambient air temp make much of a diff on the turbo's life?
  7. I would suggest getting a cat.. if you back fire and someone sees you.. could be big $$$$'s.. your choice though.. Sounds like you fixed the misfire though which is good..
  8. I can't believe it.. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,20545896-1702,00.html Sad to hear that i'ts happened.. I remember when Peter Brock died, the head of V8 supercars came on and said all about circuit racing being safe and all rally should be restricted.. unfortunately today shows that noone is safe.. RIP.. http://www.smh.com.au/news/motorsport/japa...0246009207.html Another death down in Vic on a raceway 2..
  9. Dezz - which way do you have it plumbed in.. from the sounds of it you've put it in line with the solenoid.. once you hit 4,5000 it shouldn't make any difference if you've got the solenoid T-piece pulled out.. Take a photo of how you've got it plugged in and we'll take a looky.
  10. OK.. so I lied.. it was more of a whoooosh!!.. but still impressive.. abo and me were up the top watching it when suddenly this mushroom cloud flame erupted into the sky!!.. How was the rest of the arvo everyone, what did the weather end up doing.. headed off just as it was picking up the wind.. Who got the quickest laptime from the skylines??
  11. Was a white RX-7, the guy got out alright, car is obviously completely gone.. He did about 2/3rds of a lap with the fuel tank on fire - they tried to flag him down to put it out but he kept crawling along, maybe thought he'd make to pits.. Than he pulled over.. and 20secs later the fuel tank went up..
  12. Just left the track and got home.. Wow.. hot day.. till the wind came through.. Also - for anyone that didn't go.. look at what you missed out.. I'll let one of the other guys fill in what happened.. but looks like a fuel or oil fire on an RX-7 SIII caused the following.. this was just after the car went BOOOMM!!! always heard rotaries weren't too relaible .. sorry to see this happen though.. This is what was left.. although everyone tried to put it out (ando and a couple of other guys) there was little they could do as the fuel tank went up while they were standing 2m away using a fire extinguisher on it..
  13. Been sidetracked playing GTR2.. best I managed was a 0'56.00 with the R34 GTR M-Spec.. Might have to see what else I can do..
  14. Just warming up the cars now!!
  15. Hmm.. gonna have to see what I can do.. might bust some out later.. Anyone using a steering wheel?? Throttle control will def be a huge factor of trying not to break traction out of corners..
  16. That's the problem, they all go on about the fact that they have a chip in them.. but.. they don't.. Some places have a electronic sensor that they put the key in and it'll light up if it's chipped.. most places just won't cut it..
  17. Was posted a month ago in NSW TGIF thread.. amusing though..
  18. We changed the oil in the gearbox 3 times, - didn't find any a) ball bearings and b) metal shavings each time.. personally - I don't think they changed anything, I think they just gave my mechanic some old bearings from somewhere and said "put this oil in after 1000kms".. Steve, how long do you believe it would take to change the countershaft bearings? i'd believe you might as well replace the synchros that are worn at the same time..
  19. Try when cold working out what RPM will allow it to move from 1st to 2nd easily.. for me it's 2,500 rpm.. anything else and I have to just hold it there till it slots in.. remember, just because your engine is running doesn't mean your gearbox oil will warm up.. takes atleast 5 mins of constant driving before it'll start to warm up.. I also agree with Dezz... let the oil get through.. if after a couple 100km's.. think about rebuilding..
  20. Ahhh.. that's a very good question.. The result was a) supposedly the guy changed the input shaft bearing + 3/4th bearing (main bearing).. Also cleaned up the 2nd gear synchro.. Now.. notice I said "supposedly".. Well.. how's it driving.. still the same.. sounds the same, 2nd gear synchro def needs replacing it's difficult to get in when cold.. once warmed fine.. Noise levels are the same, i've just gotten used to it.. i'm saving to go on a holiday - and nothing has changed in almost 4 months - so i'm just leaving it be.. 2 choices are to get a 2nd hand gearbox or get this rebuilt.. right now.. i'm just being nice too it and not really smashing it, something is probably worn or out of line, currently not getting worse so not worth me trying.. Mechanic agrees it's the gearbox, however we have just left it due to a couple of things (such as the front of my car getting bashed by a ute there) - I've been recommended a couple of places to go - maybe when I get back in Jan.. wouldn't mind a PFC though.. NOTE: Reason why I didn't update is because nothing was f**kin fixed.. so I was pissed off for approx a month.. and didn't feel like revisting it
  21. I reckon live for speed would support it.. ALso - GTR 2 will support it..
  22. Nice work.. will be interested to see how it all goes after your tune!!!
  23. Sorry people only just saw this had been updated.. There is 2 x plastic pieces covering all 6 bolts.. there is 1 x plastic screw towards the back of the sunroof.. unscrew it carefully.. than pull both off.. Make sure if you unscrew the bolts and take the glass out you don't lose the spacers.. I'm going to give it to someone some time and get it fixed..
  24. Hmmm.. interesting leadfoot.. what's the cost of a push type clutch + slave + gearbox you reckon?? about $2,000 all up?? I'm currently weighin up what to do with mine.. I think your correct in what you said about it depends on who rebuilds it..
  25. Indy is meant to be pretty good with cars from what i've heard and has some good experience from O/S which he has brought with him.. I believe he has a skyline as well? is that correct.. completely diverging here.. however I know some people who swear by him.. Does seem low - maybe ask him to retune it to be "less conservative".. got a Dyno graph we can have a peak at?
